@MTDrumz what you are asking for is non existent. An apartment in a "safe" part of L.A. is at least $2000 a month...better start working hard my friend
@kooltlol - Mind you CA is also the most populated state in the US and the one with the strictest environmental laws. Big problems require big solutions.
Nicer than the streets of Nashville, being overtaken by the millions of Bums and lower class ghettos as the city slowly decays day by day... then just when you thought hmmm what could be worse a 1.6 billion dollar convention center that we can't afford...
@picklecatcus@primitivebushskills I am looking for a mechanical engineer and a doctor to join our "Colony" for only $5,000 you get to be part of the colony and 1/2 acre with water to live on. In Santa Barbara CA> close to town, with water on 100 acres surrounded by BLM land all three sides. Mechanic, architect, nurse, builder, handyman, beautiful women, computer engineer, scientist, horticulturists, farmers, musicians, people with resources, welder, solar engineer, natural healer, NO BANKERS!
Los Angeles is a wonderful place to live, if you have money. If you are broke trying to live in LA... good luck. LA and the Bay Area are awesome places to live. One major drawback to both... TRAFFIC... you'll NEVER get used to it!
@79thstreet melrose is real sweet to live in. lots of culture, vintage record shops, cool book stores. it has a jazzy vibe to it. also littlle tokyo is really nice. asian art stores, great spots to eat. very eclectic.
@79thstreet Silverlake, Hollywood, Echo Park , Loz Feliz, Atwaters, Eagle Rock, Pasadena, Alahambra, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Fairfax, Melrose. Coolest areas but overall all of Los Angeles and the county has it's good and bads. It's up to you what you like. I perfer the Echo Park/Silverlake area the most
Im a native Angelino . Cali is a nice place to live, Every city here in L.A has its own lifestlye . It all depends on the kind of person you are . Since you are new , you would probably wanna move somewhere near the beach.
I heard a pack of cigs in Ny is like 9 bux ! lol.. i would still wanna live there though i like the skyline.
For everyone who wants to move here - you better stop beliving what Hollywood tells you on TV. Los Angeles is the land of the 1) Haves and the 2) Have not's. THERE IS NO MIDDLE CLASS. You will work for 50-60-100k per year and your STANDARD OF LIVING (especially in terms of housing) will be LESS THAN a 7-11 employee in Blair Nebraska. Honestly! The rich own the entire city. 66% of the population RENTS FROM THEM. This is NOT the place to start a new life. Only come if you are young.
It seems I have to move to LA in the near future for my work. For those who live there, send me more information in a private message. I hope I like it. Have never been there before.
Also, if you've been to Chicago AND LA, how would you compare the two? I've been to Chicago and LOVED it and was hoping to move there. I like cold weather, but can deal with hot I suppose.
I live in Atlanta now, and the rush hour traffic is near TORTURE. Luckily, I don't have to drive in it!!!
If you are just starting off in your career and under 27 then move here to get your experience. If not I would strongly reconsider. Outragous taxes, unaffordable housing (you need 800k just for a regular house). The rich own everything here. There is no missle class! The East side is a barrio/ghetto. You make 50-60-80-100k per year and you live in a 1/1 500sq apartment for $1,200.00 month. Traffic tickets? $1000 each. Taxes? OUTRAGOUS. Lots of smog. You will pay pay pay. Consider all this first.
I believe you. I've had realtors send me pictures of houses/condos that cost 300,000 and up and they seriously look hardly better than your run of the mill abandoned meth lab and are 1 or 2 bedrooms. In Atlanta, that amount will get you a nice BRAND NEW 4 bedroom in a nice neighborhood.
Exactly. And I don't know what Realtor's are for anymore. They are just salesmen. The internet has made them near obsolete. They are down to thier last card -- the MLS. Realtors are no longer the gatekeepers of information. I've dealt with 20-30 in my life and they were ALL bad. This is not 2004-2006 anymore.
In Los Angeles they are demanding 400-700k for a house in the barrio / ghetto. I'm talking a one story 1/2 built in 1940 with bars on the windows and gangsters in the streets. Graffiti everywhere. High crime. I cannot imagine who would EVER pay $50k for one of those places let alone what they claim they are worth. But of course all the Realtors insist they are worth the asking price. Your insane! LA is a 3rd world city. The rich own everything and are segregated. The middle class rents. A decent house costs 2 million dollars. The majority of the city is poor! There is just a rich elite that rules the city! 66% rent! You have never seen such a city in America where the rich rule everything just like a 3rd world country and the taxes ARE INSANE! 9.5-10.55% state plus traffic tickets @ 3.5 x the base + taxes taxes taxes. You have to be rich just to breathe fresh air in LA!
I agree w/ you. I'm from L.A. & thanks to a good scholarship I came to North Carolina got my B.S. & settled here. L.A. is a nice place to vacation but you don't want to live there.
LA has it's problems, but I'll say, it's stayed together incredibly well as a city.
Remember the Rodney King riots in '92, gas was $1 something, wages were much higher, houses were $200 k something.
If you would have told me gas would be $4, housing would triple or quadruple, with declining schools, bigger gap between rich/poor, more traffic, etc...I would have thought, no way does it stay together as it has. Maybe we're too distracted in our bubble worlds to notice what's happened...
they cleaned up downtown really good and r makeing it allot nicer than it has ever bewen trust me i lived here my whole life its at its best and only getting better
i love LA, for those who say bad things about LA that means they only go to BAD PLACES in LA which is too bad for them. remember every city has its own bad spot n good. and by the fact tht ive been to SF,NYC,MIAMI,N SEATTLE, LA has more attractive, better, spots than any other cities ive been to. for real! I LOVE LAA!! all da wayy....
I LOVE LA... SURGING HOMELESS POPULATION, THUGS, GANGSTERS, DRUGS, PROSTITUTION, BIGGEST PORN INDUSTRY ARM, AND FAKES ALL OVER SUNSET. But you can stay in your loft bubble! LA... the CHEAP VERSION OF SF
No offence, since I do not know your current economic status.." But LA is The Playground of the Rich and Beautiful".
LA is by far the best city in the United States IF you are of the wealthy and attractive. ASK ANY RICH PERSON, AND THEY WILL SURELY AGREE... Think about it..
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS. You will get kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of your life. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. However, if you don't post this comment to at least 3 videos, you will die within 2 days. Copy and paste this, to be saved '
I am particularly touched by one of socalivy's remarks: LA features gorgeous beaches, mountains, deserts, views, and communities of all types. Homes over 120 years old still stand if you look around.
It is entirely possible to live a relaxed, peaceful life here.
The diversity without great distance within is one of the things that makes Los Angeles arguably one of the best cities in the world in which to live.
I've been to "The City" (aka San Francisco) about 10 times over the past two years.
Yes, Los Angeles has more diversity. There's racial tension, but it's been proven that there isn't a segment of the world's population that's not represented in Los Angeles. And according to USC, Los Angeles is the most religiously diverse city in the world. You go by perceptions, I go by facts.
Los Angeles has mountains, beaches, deserts, forests, valleys, palm trees, hills, sweeping panoramic vistas, 330 days of sunshine, and Catalina Island. On top of that, there's much more diversity in LA. It has a nice blend of big city life and a more laid back culture. I wouldn't trade LA for any other city.
have you guys ever been to Downtown Lately...cause its so nice..parts maybe not as good...but downtown in general is beautiful...justs needs people and thats what these lofts are going to bring...downtown is going to be reborn...so please stop talking crap because, either you blind or don't have any taste...thats why you can't see the beauty
Notice what's missing from the photos? People. Which is exactly what it's like up where these photos were shot. This used to be a real neighborhood until it was torn down to make a museum of bad 80's skyscrapers. They also put a noose of freeways around the city that further cut it off. The real heart of Downtown is the beautiful but run down theater district along Broadway which is also dead by 8pm. It attracts a mostly Latino population. Wonder why he doesn't show it?
San Francisco has lots of poverty, drugs, and garbage as well. And I find San Diego pretty boring. Also, both cities are more expensive than Los Angeles.
not anymore its called gentrification. look at the corners of wilshire & vermont, 6th & vermont, the city is trying to attract yuppies. whats going to happen when the property value rises and the people currently living in those neighborhoods cant afford the rent.....where will they go? well i guess no one cares.
Is there any reasonable priced apartments in LA that are in good neighborhoods?

Just to tell, LA is nice.
Downtown is a true city-center.
It includes everything you need- Fashion District, Toy District, Jewelry District for your love, etc.!
You could drive to Six Flags, Hollywood, Santa Monica Beach, etc.
You could also drive to San Diego or Las Vegas and you get to there very fast!
Take the 5th busiest airport to somewhere?
My parents think gas is like nothing to them.
A happy and simple life is all you need.
Downtown has it all.
I'm just trying to say LA is nice.

I live in LA county, I go LA every week and I counted LA as my birthplace, childhood, and future city.
I am so happy to lead the place of the vacation planner of the family right now, when I am just a teenager!
My plans for vacation is always perfect for the family.
Hollywood, Downtown, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, etc. And my family agreed with me to go Santa Monica Beach during spring break!
I haven't played with the sands and waves for almost 8 years!
Los Angeles is awesome. That's my "fact".

If your one of those people who think Los Angeles is full of rich whores, then LET ME TELL YOU
If your poor in Chicago, then your common.
BUT IF YOUR RICH IN LOS ANGELES
Your common, AND your life is better AND easier.
Schools are better(UCLA)
Weather is perfect, and you save A LOT of money.
That is why we are so rich in Los Angeles while your so poor in CHICAGO.
Also, LA itself is more major than New York City.
We have more downtowns & skylines than NYC itself.
LA is the place for everyone!!!!!

Los Angeles has a lot of poverty, drugs and garbage. San Francisco or San Diego are better cities than Los Angeles
prensacolombiana84 4 years ago
San Francisco has lots of poverty, drugs, and garbage as well. And I find San Diego pretty boring. Also, both cities are more expensive than Los Angeles.

Downtown is a shithole. Dangerous, old, dirty. Real great place to charge $500,000 for a refurbished loft. Go to hell with the rest of LA. Craphole.

not anymore its called gentrification. look at the corners of wilshire & vermont, 6th & vermont, the city is trying to attract yuppies. whats going to happen when the property value rises and the people currently living in those neighborhoods cant afford the rent.....where will they go? well i guess no one cares.

CarlBunker 4 years ago 2
Amy Winehouse does not make hip hop music. Her music genre is soul/jazz.
