I'm making a "25 favorite Radiohead songs" CD for my dad and my sister and while I love this song, I wasn't sure I was going to include it.
Then I watched this video and was so moved by Thom's performance that I realized I HAVE to include this song, it's brilliant. What an incredible performance. Seeing Thom moved to tears by this song---I'll never listen to it again in the same way.
"Sometimes I get over charged / That's when you see you sparks"
seriously, people seem to spend more time worrying about how many viewers disliked the video rather than enjoying the content for themselves, what is that? some kind of inferiority complex or something? FFS just stop it already
Radiohead always ends its albums with fucking masterpieces: Blow Out, Street Spirit (Fade Out), The Tourist, Motion Picture Soundtrack, Life In A Glass House, A Wolf At The Door, Videotape, Separator. Always making it a satisfying album listening at the end.
i remember driving back from the party which ruined my life at 12:00am and listening to this song as i drifted through the yellow glow of the city at night time. before the party i played the earlier tracks and when i go bak into the car, having realised that i had just made the worst decision of my life-i turned up the volume and drifted emotionless through the night life. this song will always hold a special place in my heart for it represented the end of my life-and the beginning of a new one
I was driving home from work listening to this and when he was saying "slow down", I kinda started to feel light headed and slowed my car down. As i approached the top of the hill I daydreamed about hitting a kid with my car, and just as i was cresting the hill, sure enough a kid ran right across the road. I would have hit him
great song, but he has butchered it here at the end. I think he is failing to get power into his voice on the last couplet.. possibly because he's been singing for two hours, and it's just not possible outside of the studio..
i asked the question "they ask me where the hell i'm going, at a thousand feet per second" on yahoo answers, and NO ONE knew what i was talking about. they're all like "get off meth". can't some true radiohead fans join yahoo answers?
Yeah, Jonny Greenwood wrote it after seeing a group of American Tourists outside the Louvre in Paris, running around like idiots, trying to see all the great art & sites, in like, 5 minutes! Wondering why they just dont slow down a bit & appreciate whats on offer I guess.
Like all great art & songs, can have multiple meanings but I have quoted what Jonny Greenwood told Q Magazine on the songs origins. Checked it out as was curious myself as one of my favourite Radiohead songs.
This is one of the few songs that manages to encapsulate whatever I'm feeling right that minute when I'm listening to it, whether I'm happy, melancholy, angry, whatever. I don't know how they do it.
Ok Computer is absolutely incredible, but I've been listening to the band for a long time and I have to say a couple of their other albums exceed it, these being Kid A, Amnesiac, and Hail To The Thief, because these albums were the albums where Radiohead went places that NOBODY has gone before.
@kinversoni ..You slow down, idiot!
Jonny Greenwood's dreamy guitar playing, Phillip Selway's occasional drumming, with Thom Yorke's relaxing high voice, and his slow singing create a beautiful relaxing ending to a great album.
Why does people compare Coldplay and Radiohead? Chris Martin has said that one of his biggest influences is Radiohead, and that he will never make something as genious as OK Computer. Wikipedia Chris Martin and you'll see. Dumbfucks.
@andyrawsyou i read somewhere that they said it sounded so different to what Radiohead actually was, so they didn't play it often, it was just a short change from the sound of OK Computer
