@thatamazinggeek are you serious or do you just know nothing about wrestling? they get injured all the time. Talk about rip off's talk about the NFL inventing a "tuck rule" to put the patriots in the superbowl after 9/11.
Sometimes wwf characters remind me of other characters like corporal kircher as rambo, steamboat as chen zhen, superfly as tarzan, the bushwackers as two popeyes and hulk hogan vs warrior remind me of superman vs the incredable hulk.
@Stabesy That was kind of the point of him being the figurehead president of the promotion, and it worked a helluva lot better than the tired and worn out evil promoter them we've seen done to death in the last ten years now.
@Stabesy I think they wanted him to have the same response that referees usually get (you love him when he does something for the face but you hate him when he does something for the heel.) That dynamic changed significantly when Gorilla Monsoon took over in 1995. Fans loved Monsoon in that spot, and he did seem to be a much better person for that job.
Hogan was a sore loser in this match ...in real life ..not like any other....as for looking like UW..youll need to eat small meals 5 or 6 times a day including free veges,,,,eat tons of blackyed peas..and find a good physical therapist one that prescribes "medicine for injured limbs" you got to admit he did take a beating with chairs so....also start with small weights and slowly go up ..just untill it heats the muscle and recovers..from pain not to sore..
Im just a beer drinking truck driving dad from the mid south. I dont care about all the drama back stage. All I care about is what my kids reaction was when the music started. To see them so happy Mr. Helwig has definantly earned every penny he ever got from our tickets. No I wouldnt be suprised if a bunch of pompus millionares hate each other back stage. But thats just "off stage" entertainment much of it staged also:) My kids never cared anything about that. Nor did I....
no I don't. WWE uses production themes from a group of different places like Extreme Music, NonStopMusic etc.. I knew someone at the time who had a massive amount of production themes and inquired about this specific piece (they used some cool tunes in that Warrior dvd hehe) and he sent it along.
only thing i knew about him was kids who bought his tshirts. i was more into videogames. t hen i played WWF wrestlefest and became a fan of the ultimate warrior. he is awesome! too bad the real one died of steroid overdose. now we have a fake masquerading as the original.
So what I don't understand is why Hogan would want the IC championship. I mean that's a step down. It could have easily been, if Warrior lost he would be stripped of his title.

@Deeky74 dude no one like him i read the history of the wwe book and it said that no one liked him and they all fought that he did not deserve to be champion
you know if you watch the count closly Hogan kicked out just at three. but anyway that was it for Warrior there was nothing else Hulk Hogan or anybody could do for him, he was on his own after that.
Ultimate Warrior sucked, he was too hard to work with and all the other wrestlers hated him. Far from the best, just was given a good gimmick, but wasn't a good wrestler. Rick Rude should've been given the push, he was an awesome heel.
Rick Rude was an awesome heel, one of the top performers and very under utilized as well as Mr. Perfect and Million Dollar Man, they definitely all should have been given the push that they deserved
Mr.Perfect was kinda understandable because his fitness was always unpredictable, he picked up way too many injuries. If he hadn't got injured think he would've had atleast 3 runs as champion. However Ted Dibiase and Rick Rude not getting the push was just unforgiveable on WWF's part.
i agree.. Mr Perfect would make a great wwf champion.. he's doing well with the IC title under his belt.. and its sad, that we lost one of the greatest entertainer in sports entertainment.. RIP Curt Hennig..
the promo was great but the warrior wasnt ready to become world champion yet, when hogan passed him the ball that was the highlight of his career and he couldnt handle the reponseibility he wasnt ready. hogan should have won

Dude if you don't like Ultimate Warrior then thats you opinion, just don't go around saying it to his fans' faces, cause they really won't change how they feel about him.
Promos back then were much better than they are today- say what you will about them, but the large majority of the wrestling fans always remember fondly of the promos back then than they do now.
Promos like this did their job well- It was designed to generate as much interest and anticipation as it could garner for WrestleMania VI- and it worked to a great degree.
ur missing one major point about then and now. The majority of wrestling fans didnt know how much of wreslting was fake then, as opposed to now, when everyone has seen how much of it is scripted. Its a different era. Back then the promos were like boxing promos because of the sense of reality.
The business back then was so closed and secretive, compared to what it is now. In a sense, I do think that kind of takes away the excitement of the matches- admittedly, Wrestling back then was exciting as it is now.
But yeah, I agree; different eras back then. Everything changes and evolves as life goes on- and professional wrestling is no different I guess.
he loved dragging his words didn't he? =) When I first saw that as a kid (and subsequently when I bought it on DVD) I didn't even know he said "Reality" hahaha
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
what the fuck was that noise that Warrior made at the end? "Ultimate Re-al-i-ty...kkkk"
Fuckin stupid ass promo and a match that was only saved by a hot crowd full of kids, WWF back in the day was NOT better than it is now in ANY aspect, promos, matches, nothing.
I think you need to get into reality my friend. If you think today's promos, matches, or any aspect is better than the past- then you need to see a shrink.
O rly? So you'd take 5 squash matches and Hogan vs Earthquake over Raw? In the 80's there were maybe 10 good-great matches on WWF programming. Their promos were entertaining, and those might beat out today, but the matches, hell no. Watch wrestlemania 4 and get bored to tears, it's like watching 15 Chris Masters vs Chris Masters matches (muscular clones) and then you get Dibiase vs Savage.
I'll take the squash matches. PPV's back then meant something. Now they don't mean jack. I loved how there were at most 4 PPV's per year (5 in 1991 with Tuesday in Texas) and the rest being SNME's, Prime Time Wrestling, etc. The muscle men back then had charisma & personalities. The flaw with what you say about WM4 is that it doesn't include the weeks of TV buildup around it, which is much easier to find for the newer stuff today than something old from 1988.
If you have the TV buildup and then watch WM4, you'll get a different perspective of it. Just my opinion. I'll take the old WWF from the 80's up through 1992 than dumb angles such as Vince's illegimitate kid, Vince "dying" in an explosion, Vince vs. God, etc. Something tells me a 60 min program of back then had more wrestling than 2 hours of Raw which is full of wrestlers bs'ing about crap.
Fraid not, WWF was never the "wrestling" company, if you said "NWA" then you have an argument, but two muscle freaks stumbling around the ring, doing pose moves isn't exactly something I wanna see.
Also, a good show is good whether you know the backstories or not, it's called show versatility.
When you say muscle-bound freaks, I mainly think of the Powers of Pain. I liked their matches against Demolition. POP did pose during their matches, but that's not all they did. But besides these guys, there were plenty of guys who weren't musclebound freaks who did a lot of poses like Piper, Snuka, Martel, Santana, Koko B Ware, Jake Roberts, Savage, Mr. Perfect, Hart Foundation, Rockers, Dibiase, etc. Rude did pose, but he was a great wrestler too.
Koko was not fat back then. He was in great shape. Jake Roberts did not have a beer belly back then. He was slim and in good wrestling shape. These guys gained weight later on in the mid-90's. Jake was in good shape in WCW too (1992).
Either way, I thought the old style WWF type wrestling or NWA/WCW type wrestling was far more interesting than the stuff they show today. Especially tag team wrestling. The 80's had the best tag team wrestling (even WWF) that I ever saw: British Bulldogs, Horsemen, Doom, Steiners, Road Warriors, Valentine/Beefcake, Killer Bees, Hart Foundation, Rockers, etc. They didn't just slap 2 singles wrestlers & call them a team. Just my opinion.
yes, I agree about hte tag teams. My question is, if you don't like WWE, why don't you watch ROH? Forget TNA, that's just a poor man's WWE, basically Trump > Pacman and Stone Cold/Foley/Rock > New age outlaws and Outsiders, So why don't you watch ROH or Japanese stuff?
Well, I don't have cable or satellite. So the only program that's on is without those is Smackdown. In late 2001, one of the UHF channels turned into AIN for a few months and I had NWA Wildside on. I loved that organization, but the channel soon became a Spanish channel & all that stuff was gone.
If it was galavision, you can watch AAA and CMLL on weekends in the afternoon and late (really late) at night.
ROH you can order DVDs, get Final Battle '06, Man Up, Driven, or Glory By Honor V Night 2, those are the best shows of theirs that I can reccomend to a guy just starting out.
Promos nowadays are way better than they were back then. And I was watching that wrestlemania match on wwe 24/7 and it was one of the worst matches I have ever seen. Neither one of them had any skills inside the ring.
see those were promos and I havnt even even watched wrestling back then. That's how promos today should be in the wwe and tna or maybe im not payin attention much
I've seen Hogan wrestle in Japan before and it's like he's a different guy. He has tremendous wrestling skills. However I can honestly say that this match was bot he and the Warrior's best worked match ever.
jack tennay was commectioner and it was a commatintaor lord alford hase not sure of spellings though lotf alford hays did mainly play by play on home vids and promos

All hate aside and i'm not trying to be disrespectful....
But if you look at the time list for WWE titles held, the top 2 names are Triple H & Chris Jericho....

Well no one even gets chances to really cut promos anymore. WWE seems intent on building 3 charachters and screw anyone elses individual story.
Wanna watch Raw? Mic time goes to Cena Orton and HHH only....

Promos back then were much better than they are today- say what you will about them, but the large majority of the wrestling fans always remember fondly of the promos back then than they do now.
Promos like this did their job well- It was designed to generate as much interest and anticipation as it could garner for WrestleMania VI- and it worked to a great degree.
straightcheese 4 years ago
ur missing one major point about then and now. The majority of wrestling fans didnt know how much of wreslting was fake then, as opposed to now, when everyone has seen how much of it is scripted. Its a different era. Back then the promos were like boxing promos because of the sense of reality.
smk2652468 4 years ago
Well that's true. Good point.

Can you or someone translate what Warrior says at the end. Sometimes he's harder to understand than Sheik or Snuka.
Nevermind, he says Ultimate Re-al-i-ty.
keithbarbaro 4 years ago
he loved dragging his words didn't he? =) When I first saw that as a kid (and subsequently when I bought it on DVD) I didn't even know he said "Reality" hahaha
straightcheese 4 years ago
I loved this promo...as a kid, I was a huge Ultimate Warrior fan, and man..did this ever hype me up for WrestleMania VI!!!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
what the fuck was that noise that Warrior made at the end? "Ultimate Re-al-i-ty...kkkk"
Fuckin stupid ass promo and a match that was only saved by a hot crowd full of kids, WWF back in the day was NOT better than it is now in ANY aspect, promos, matches, nothing.
Anglefan12 4 years ago
I think you need to get into reality my friend. If you think today's promos, matches, or any aspect is better than the past- then you need to see a shrink.
brethart82 4 years ago
Anglefan12 4 years ago
I'll take the squash matches. PPV's back then meant something. Now they don't mean jack. I loved how there were at most 4 PPV's per year (5 in 1991 with Tuesday in Texas) and the rest being SNME's, Prime Time Wrestling, etc. The muscle men back then had charisma & personalities. The flaw with what you say about WM4 is that it doesn't include the weeks of TV buildup around it, which is much easier to find for the newer stuff today than something old from 1988.
wtcvidman 4 years ago
If you have the TV buildup and then watch WM4, you'll get a different perspective of it. Just my opinion. I'll take the old WWF from the 80's up through 1992 than dumb angles such as Vince's illegimitate kid, Vince "dying" in an explosion, Vince vs. God, etc. Something tells me a 60 min program of back then had more wrestling than 2 hours of Raw which is full of wrestlers bs'ing about crap.
wtcvidman 4 years ago
Fraid not, WWF was never the "wrestling" company, if you said "NWA" then you have an argument, but two muscle freaks stumbling around the ring, doing pose moves isn't exactly something I wanna see.
Also, a good show is good whether you know the backstories or not, it's called show versatility.
Anglefan12 4 years ago
When you say muscle-bound freaks, I mainly think of the Powers of Pain. I liked their matches against Demolition. POP did pose during their matches, but that's not all they did. But besides these guys, there were plenty of guys who weren't musclebound freaks who did a lot of poses like Piper, Snuka, Martel, Santana, Koko B Ware, Jake Roberts, Savage, Mr. Perfect, Hart Foundation, Rockers, Dibiase, etc. Rude did pose, but he was a great wrestler too.
wtcvidman 4 years ago
The tag teams of today aren't the worst they've ever been though, I love Londrick and Murdoch/Cade, too bad they don't focus on the division.
Anglefan12 4 years ago
Koko was a big fat black guy, Jake Roberts was tall with a beer belly, while Snuka and Santana went out there to actually wrestle.
Dlenehan56 4 years ago
Koko was not fat back then. He was in great shape. Jake Roberts did not have a beer belly back then. He was slim and in good wrestling shape. These guys gained weight later on in the mid-90's. Jake was in good shape in WCW too (1992).
wtcvidman 4 years ago
Either way, I thought the old style WWF type wrestling or NWA/WCW type wrestling was far more interesting than the stuff they show today. Especially tag team wrestling. The 80's had the best tag team wrestling (even WWF) that I ever saw: British Bulldogs, Horsemen, Doom, Steiners, Road Warriors, Valentine/Beefcake, Killer Bees, Hart Foundation, Rockers, etc. They didn't just slap 2 singles wrestlers & call them a team. Just my opinion.
wtcvidman 4 years ago
yes, I agree about hte tag teams.
Anglefan12 4 years ago
Well, I don't have cable or satellite. So the only program that's on is without those is Smackdown. In late 2001, one of the UHF channels turned into AIN for a few months and I had NWA Wildside on. I loved that organization, but the channel soon became a Spanish channel & all that stuff was gone.
wtcvidman 4 years ago
If it was galavision, you can watch AAA and CMLL on weekends in the afternoon and late (really late) at night.
ROH you can order DVDs, get Final Battle '06, Man Up, Driven, or Glory By Honor V Night 2, those are the best shows of theirs that I can reccomend to a guy just starting out.
Anglefan12 4 years ago
Promos nowadays are way better than they were back then. And I was watching that wrestlemania match on wwe 24/7 and it was one of the worst matches I have ever seen. Neither one of them had any skills inside the ring.
Mctaw585 4 years ago
see those were promos and I havnt even even watched wrestling back then. That's how promos today should be in the wwe and tna or maybe im not payin attention much
abSOULuteD 4 years ago
Damn..that was a tight promo..greatest match ever at WrestleMania
Heatster33 4 years ago
Great match. Much better than it had any right to be.
Truthenigma 4 years ago
I've seen Hogan wrestle in Japan before and it's like he's a different guy. He has tremendous wrestling skills. However I can honestly say that this match was bot he and the Warrior's best worked match ever.
xpander2k 4 years ago
Hmm, makes me wonder why people want "the good ol' days of WWF" surely they mean NWA, or AJPW perhaps?
