Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez, actrice américaine qui chante aussi... Mais comme on est loin dans "Diva" de la perfection de cette même aria quand elle est interprétée par Maria Callas, ou, mieux encore, par la divine Tébaldi !...
@77hodag p.s. If you haven't seen the film, Jules meets Alba when she is shoplifting some records from his friend's store by slipping the records inside her model portfolio (which is filled with nudes).
Je n'aime pas de Beethoven. LOL! This film puts me right back into the 80s, in a dirty little art film theatre in Bloomington, IN. I have both the DVD & VHS,
I saw this film in a ragged nameless small film theatre in a backstreet of Tokyo Shinjuku in 1983. This has actually enticed me into the world of operas. A few years later, Richard Bohringer appeared in a TV commercial, singing "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing".
The scotter chase scene was fantastic, but really too hard to have a favorite scene. Siskel and Ebert loved this film and lead american audiences to it.
@MowgliX Thuy An Luu made a dozen movies in minor roles (some of them from the same who directed Diva), and was even a singer for only two 45s, "Lolita Hiroshima" in 1983 and "Pourquoi tu me fous plus des coups?" in 1988.
in 2004 He produced a movie called "sinistres souris", but never been released, and at last 3rd movie called "par suite d'un arret de travail" with Timsit (comedian)
I have been trying to find Diva on DVD ... I love it. I love this scene, but my favourite is the end in the theatre when Jules admits it was he who made the recording, and the scene at Cynthia's hotel, when she sings Ave Maria while he's taking a bath.
When it came out in 1981, it was a very cool movie. It is maybe a little dated now, but its almost impossible to capture contemporary culture without dating it to some extent. In 1981, not many UK people really picked up on this film, but it seems to finally getting through to an Anglo Saxon audience - I loved it and still do.

This is a really great movie, but it could never be a hit nowadays. It's too unusual (not weird, just hard to define the genre).

What happened to Cythia Hawkins? Was like her character and never wanted to record?

@PHDROD Yes, but in reality that's Wilhamina Wiggins, and she only has 2 records, both against her permission.
