  • This is all faked and acted. The vehicles intentionally swerve out of control in tests 1,2 & 5. Also the driver without stability control (left) drives faster than the other. Also you may note this crazy drive doesn't bother to take his foot off the pedal while driving in snow around cones at about 25-30 km hr. A fair test lads?

  • The dumbass on the left needs to learn how to control his vehicles .

  • просто слева водитель - лох)))

  • man they are fooling soo many people with shit like these ...

  • You don't need esp if you don't drive like a retarded squirrel.

  • ESP on is not fun!!! It boring...

  • All of the people saying that ESP is stupid must not understand it. ESP can brake on individual wheels rather than all 4. Yes you can countersteer but this corrects for over steering.

  • ive owned older jeeps, and now have a 2010 wrangler. i can honestly say that the new esp program is very helpfull in emergency situations. that being said, its nice to be able to fully disable it when its time to have fun. my question to the haters is, why wouldnt you want help avoiding an accident?

  • maybe they hate it because it does'nt let them too have enough fun like you said

  • you only spin out like that cuz ur staying on the gas and what moron would do that cept the test driver in this vid. esp is only for ppl who dont know how to drive and dont know the limitations of their car and need a computer to do the calculations for them. alot of ppl need esp, not to brag but i dont need that bcuz computers make errors too and also have glitches cuz its man made. if my car had esp id have it off 99% of the time =p

  • @Flipster1325 You sir are a complete fucking idiot. The chance of the the cars computer making a mistake as compared to you making a mistake is minimal...

  • @makmegs Something the ESP doesnt have is eyes and doesnt know what is really going on besides the car losing control, many times this winter the ABS which I cant turn off nearly caused me to crash. Not because its malfunctioning, I have driven several different cars and they all behave the same. I know what I have to do to make it safely through, the ABS or ESP just knows how to keep the car in control. Tell me why there is an off button if the manufacturer knew ESP should be on at all times?

  • @Flipster1325 You turn it off if you're rocking the car out of snow (traction control function) or have a compact spare on.

Since you can brake each wheel independently and adjust the pressure 100 times a second while adjusting throttle, you clearly can drive better than ESP. Just go pull the ABS fuse next winter and tell us how much better you're driving.

  • @straightpipediesel /already been done, I leave everyone in the dust and take almost all my turns side ways. Show people how to really drive =p

  • my esp is off!

  • all u gotta do is counter steer! u dont need that stability BS. unless ur not a good driver of course

  • @904baconator ofcourse u need esp even if you are the best driver. esp does somethink more than every human can do... we cant brake on one wheel...

  • @sevasl this is true but my point is all u need to do is counter steer. ....i watched a video with big rigs with esp. thats totally nessesary cuz when that trailer starts to slide, all hell breaks loose. but the system kept in in line. but cars just need counter steered

  • There's no substitute for careful driving, but with ESP it seems to help a lot.

  • ESP SUCKS MAJOR BALLS. 08 caravan. fwd. up a steep hill in the winter. would have made it up if ESP didnt SLAM ON THE FUCKING BRAKES halfway up the hill. ended up sliding down and hitting the car behind us. fuckin joke man.

  • The dodge nitro with ESP was very slow, on a test made by the magazine Automovil failed all the tests especially this one made at 35mph on dry/wet pavement, in both scenarios the truck never returned to the original lane (understeer)

  • WHEN THE F WOULD I DO THAT MANY S TURNS????

  • @bratboy90 If you're driving on a wet/slippery road and someone suddenly brakes in front of you or some car suddenly drives in front of you and you have to make a quick evasive turn or even if you just turn into a corner a little too fast, without ESP the rear will simply slide out and its very scary on public roads. Could easily end up in a fatal accident if you crash into someone while in the slide or an SUV can simply just roll over.

  • @afthefragile Lol, bullshit story you tard. 95% of people would swerve and hit the brakes and you wouldn't have a rythme like this vid, its would be all different distance and speed changes. People don't continue at the same speed. And why is that car stopping suddenly, probably due to people ahead stopped. And I would say when I drive 95% of the time the raid isn't pure snow and ice. Road handle suspension far different from this test. Say what you want but on tar, you situation truck rolls.

  • @bratboy90 EXACTLY

  • fake

  • Not the Same speed loool

  • observe how the last car (jeep wrangler) without ESP keeps turning in the end of the lane change! all the other cars do the same in a different degree in order for you to believe that ESP is good...

  • Nt da same speed

  • Już bez jaj z tym ostatnim. Skontrowałby i normalnie by z tego wyszedł, ale już chcieli bronić ESP to pociągnęli w lewo po słupkach. :]

  • ESP is a fantastic invention. The main purpose of ESP is to assist people that don't know how to correct a skid in the first place. It will save lives and because of that I applaud it.

  • that´s not true even a pro would have go help with the esp? no matter how good u are u can never brake the same way an esp brakes your back wheels for an example. i can assure you that.

  • @WeAllGonnaDieAlive

Your English is so poor I can barely understand what you wrote.

You are correct about one thing - you can never brake like ESP can but a pro doesn't need to and WOULDN't need to. A professional wouldn't get themselves into a situation where ESP is needed in the first place.

Also you can't really disconnect ESP from most cars. There is usually a button that turns it off but it's not really off it just allows for a greater degree of slide before it activates.

  • @pcmr57 the only way to fully disable esp is to wire a toggle switch into the sensor(s) i have no problem having esp active while on road, but sometimes when im in the mud or snow i like to have my fun, and i hate fighting the computer to do donuts.

  • @rapsuperstar00

I've got a 2010 Ram and when I turn off the ESP I can do donuts all day long in a snowy parking lot.

I realize that not all cars have that option and it must be frustrating with one of those cars. There are definitely times when it would be beneficial to turn ESP off.

  • hehehe I always belived ESP was just bollocks. Turned it off when driving on a ice covered street that was sloping and had a nice bend, thought I was gonna skid down like a race pro so switched ESP off. First I almost crashed the car into the barrier on my right then a passing car on the left while trying to break the skid. That same ice covered street I've been driving a thousand times with ESP off a lot faster no problems. I never switch ESP off anymore =)

  • haha lol if you wanna "be a pro" and have som fun with your car, you should learn the saftey systems. you can disconnect the ASB and other things instead.

  • This video is a classic example of why every single pro ESP video sucks. In none of those clips did the driver even attempt to correct the skid.

  • not only that but they also turned in sharper than with the esp on

  • Nah, the ESP just kills turn in speed lol.

  • Speaking of Bollocks, if you know anything about the friction circle, you'll realize that ESP cant do anything at all if you're in a 4 wheel skid/drift. If none of the tyres have grip, applying brakes isnt going to help (obviously thats how ESP works). It can help keep the tail in check (IE preventing counterskids in some cases, and skids in the first place sometimes), but once traction is completely lost, the system will just freak out.

  • @theoriginalca7erham

Yea, I see your point.... It's an accurate comparison of how the average driver would drive, with ESP enabled or disabled. It totally sucks.

I know how to drive and how to countersteer, correcting a skid - even before it actually occurs, where only the weight has begun shifting with no change of direction, but the average driver would loose it at cone 2 of the slalom because they would switch direction way too fast.

ESP is better than non-pro drivers... Sucks, huh?

  • look 0:32 at wheel position! This video is a fraud

  • Yes, you are right about the wheel position, however I must state that the video is a demonstration of what happens when someone behind the wheel is not that experienced or just is a really bad driver, the point is ESP corrects minor driver errors.

  • if you watch the last and final test with the jeep, he makes it though with it disabled but if you keep watching the wheel, he kept it turned in one direction instead of the straight ahead after he got it back in the right position, so he would have been fine but it looks like he messed up on purpose

  • @dsummers2006

    Morale of the story?

    Jeeps hate cones :D

  • YEah good ESP !

    or Racing with Disable ESP!.

  • ESP disable looks fun!

  • @djmannyclue Until you get in a crash and almost die. Speaking from experience.

  • The Dodge Ram faired the worse without ESP On.

  • lol@the last car, what's up with turning the steering wheel and pressing the gas pedal in the direction of the crash??

  • yeah, what the hell..?!?!

  • Without it you have to steer more because that is all you have turning in Snow for instance without ESP, ESP Brakes the individual Tires to compensate for Road conditions while not requiring extra steering input from the driver

  • the steering is more violent in the ESP off. and no countersteering? No skill man. no skill

  • Well that's the aim dude... average ppl don't have that skill u kno :/ ( u watched too much fast & furious )

  • dude i don't like fast and furious l lot and they aren't regular people.

  • is it me, or are all cars with ESP disabled driving faster!!

  • That is 100% fake. The driver in the car with "ESP Disabled" is trying to get the car drifting, hes slamming the steering wheel from one side to the other. Also the "ESP On"-car is driving slower in the last turns.

  • i agree. he should be turning the steering wheel the same amount in both tests to make it fair

  • I was just going to write the same thing, the "video" on the left was steering quicker / harder almost as he really wanted to spin out of control and going faster for that matter. But the one on the right side looked like it were going slower...

  • LOL, when Skoda sold me my Fabia with Esp: " Don't use ESP when there is a lot of snow" ._________. Here is full of snow now!

  • jeesus, who the hell is driving those cars? a paraplegic? my wife can handle drifting better than that and she can barely drive to save her life!

  • ive just had my wheel allignment done and i think the guy has messed my ESP sensors. doing 30mph on a straight and the ESP is kicking in and applying breaks to the front wheels. the steering wheel also dont look centred any more

  • american car in the left and EU car on the right

  • ...?? WTF this is so unreal, look at the dodge ram or the jeep at the end... they don't turn properly the stering

  • They were drifting plus they were oversteering and understeering...

  • ESP is really a life saving invention, we have to thank the Germans for it (then again, what don't they invent)

  • pareciera q el carro q tiene ESP activo va un poko mas lento, aunq debe ser por lo mismo q tiene el ESP

  • i cant tell the difference

  • is not a fake.. the esp won`t let u accelerate.. or do anything else.. he control the car.. what`evr u do.

  • HEY YOU GUYZ TRY IT IF YA SOOO CLEVER!

  • esp has benefits but this video is a FAKE,

  • Yep !

  • That driver with the esp off could have totally corrected. He veered off on purpose.

  • this was dumb!!!!!! boring

  • Have you see the last car in the video? ridicule, if you don't turn the steering how can you go straight??? ahaha ihihih :)

    forza Gigi Galli!!!

  • Drive to the conditions, if they change reduce your speed.

  • so,always turning on your ESP!

  • Ignorat!!!

  • proof of fakeness?

  • Ignorant!!!

  • You don't like what I have to say? Get over it.

  • i don't deny the benefits of esp but these videos do seem a little dramatized.

  • yeah, that's true - for example in the last episode: when going back to the left (from our side) side of the road to get out of sliding driver should turn steering wheel to the side of drift, but he made opposite thing (i can pretty see this when playing video in slow motion) which lead to car being turned arround.

  • that was a reply to:

    Obelix:

i don't deny the benefits of esp but these videos do seem a little dramatized.

  • I've just bought myself a nice mercedes clk with ESP. It will help me drive safely.

  • Good for you!!!! I have ESP on my jetta 2.5. If I didn't have it, my car would probaly be totalled right now. But thanks to ESP, I was able to regain control easier :)

  • The second car was a Dodge Nitro. I own a Nitro R/T and have noticed the ESP warning lamp blink when driving in rainy weather and maybe going a little too fast. But it did help me avoid an accident.

  • who doesn't like some snow dorifto? and if you noticed, when the guy was loosing control he never countersteered back!!! woot!

  • I noticed that shit, I guess in some cases its just driver error rather than ESP.

  • Agreed. If the driver made an effort to maintain control the two videos would look the same. The only conclusion is that ESP is good cause it allows the same degree of control with less training and effort. But not that it is impossible to keep a car pointed straight in the snow. It just takes some learning.

  • That is correct, it looks like that every time I see ESP videos, must be emulation of average Joe behaviour esp off.

My car is rwd and headlights are most advanced electrical part in it, it slides but if I spin it is driver error, of course with ESP even driver who can't drive can stay on road.

  • Just got mine Pacifica and it has it too! : )

  • I've needed ESP services already. Luckly my car had it.

  • This is no real life test! First of all, the suvs without ESP do evrything to create oversteer. the last suv just steers out of the track!

  • Well, I agree that drifting is much more fun but most of American cars handle like a cow down the hill so I think that in US , the ESP is essential heheheeh, eventhough i love american cars, their style and noise, we got to be realistic, just mocking about, ESP is essential for proper drivers,

  • 3rd vehicle is a 2007 Jeep Patriot, companion car to the Compass... and also much better looking.

  • buuuu drift is more fun

  • Nigga stole my car

  • It looks like the new jeep patriot.

  • What was the third SUV? New Liberty? Or Jeep's spinoff of the Dodge Nitro? I don't think it was the Compass.

  • It was the Jeep Patriot

  • the patriot

  • Fuck ESP. drifting is way more fun then being in control.
