Oh and another anti tank round they did not mention is the HESH round which is designed to flake armour off the inside of the target. This flake then rattles around causing mayhem. The HeSH round is useful against units with lighter armour where a SABOT would over penetrate and additionally the HE in HESH will degrade external equipment or personnel.

@frarreta you need only a crew of three. That's good for armies with not so much members and gives you a little bit more space to put french vine in.

But when the auto loader breaks (what happens from time to time) you are fucked up...

Correction, 01.22 - this is the Russian T-80U followed by late variant T-72B at 01.24.

You have right T-80U is not updated version of T-72... T-80 series are made as sucsessors of T-64, not T-72 family.

and on that video we can only see T-80U and T-72BM Rogatka, not T-90.

Discovery have wonderful military experts.... no joke comrade, this is embarrasing on their side, I would definitely be embarrased and ashamed if I make such mistakes, who would dare call themselfs military experts? they can't make diffrence between two well known eastern tanks, discovery is completely unreliable and this documentary is proof.

Also it is embarrasing not to mention difference between Soviet export versions and ones used by USSR and later Russian army after USSR.

Indeed, Gulf war, Iraqis had an all export and locally built tank force of cheap downgraded tanks, mainly from China and the T-72s they had were all stripped of basic equipment found on all Soviet T-72s, not to mention armour downgrades, use of poor munitions and many other disadvantages, all these things western "experts" usually fail to mention... I completely agree, pathetic.

And also poor crew training and bad tactic. You can put monkey in the best tank in the world, and you will have bad results.

Anyway, it is known fact that tanks are in most cases victims of bad tactic... but they don't mention that too...

Knocked out communication networks, Iraqi tank crews didnt know what the hell was going on when an attack starts and mostly at night, their IR searchlights couldnt see nothing beyond few hundred metres and most tanks werent knocked out in tank on tank combat, it was mostly air superiority and missiles, but what do we know were only some ignorant fools from the east, can't compare to the awesome knowledge of discoveries military experts.

Good show, but, the statement about firing two types of rounds is not correct. I've personally fired at least four types, APDS (armor peircing discarding sabot), HEAT (high explosive anti-tank), HEP (high explosive plastic, and an anti-personal round called APERS-T aka "Beehive" containing thousands of steel darts called flechettes arranged around a small bursting charge set to detonate and disperse the darts down range before reaching the target personel.

The only tanks that have proved their value are the Challenger 2 and the M1A1 Abrams. Still, the M1A1 Abrams got 4 of them off commission.

The Leo II is the only tank that is serveciball every 14,000 km, like your VW, and why when the brits upgrade there chall 2 to chall 2E to participate in the hellenic army trials did it lost vs the leo 2, and for the record the m1 and the french tank to lost, and not only in that occasion had they lost vs the leo 2.

The deep fording feature is the coolest feature of the Leo II. It's got the same gun as the Abrams. People get so hung up on which tank is the best that they forget the most important lesson: crew efficiency, tank coordination, and combined arms tactics are what decide the outcome of battle. That's why the US ran over the Germans in WWII when the krauts had better tanks.
