of rock & roll star that she was...my opinion....just fantastic

  • Darlene Love is Vhristnas, to me. My tradition now, too. 2008 was a particularly bad year for me - Dec. was the worst of the 12 months - until I heard Darlene Love on Letterman that night. She brought Christmas into my life and home. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is where she belongs.

  • Letterman, Love, Christmas - what more could you want? Dave's tradition is now mine.

  • Rock n Roll HOF 2010..

    Doo Ron RON !!

  • she did it again!! 12-23-2009

  • I never miss David Letterman's Annual Christmas Show!

  • Tonight She will be singing again Wensday December 23, 2009

  • keep in mind folks...we owe a lot to Phil Specter...the Wall of Sound ...still rockin' on

  • Timeless stuff. I love all of Spectors music. But you have to keep in mind OJ Simpson's accomplishments are timeless in the football world. We must seperate the accomplishments from the evil people these guys truly are.

  • @ortleyman I know what Simpson had done (to his ex-wife) but what did Phil Spector do? He looked so innocent (in disguise!!) my youngest son says he looks like a weasel!!

  • I have never missed this performance. It isn't Christmas without Darlene...Thanks for putting a smile on all of our faces. Merry Christmas Darlene!

  • This is my favorite Christmas tradition.

  • I hope I look that good pushing 70!

  • Ula Hedwig sings beautifully! Darlene Love dominated back to back. I hope she do it again next week on Letterman on December 23!

  • It's never Christmas on David Letterman without Darlene Love she gets better and better every year, and I'm looking forward of seeing her Dec. 23 =)

  • ME TOO! Go darlene.

  • To our troops out there, both men and women, who serve our country and protect its people: "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home", and you will . . .

  • It's not Christmas without this superb song and singer. Gets better and better every year. What a fantastic tradition. Thanks Dave, looking forward to this year's performance. Merry Christmas everyone.

  • its never really christmas until watching the show... cant wait for this years performance

  • Me four! I am counting the hours! There is nothing like the joy I feel when I hear Darlene sing.

  • My fave girl group singer.

  • what a wonderful song very uplifting, and her voice brings tears to my eyes. god bless darlene.

  • I can't wait for this years performance. Jay Thomas, the meatball and Darlene Love.

  • OMG I soooo love this woman...she brings me to tears with this each year...recently it was my birthday and I received an autograph pic by darlene and will treasure it always as it sits upon my dresser and look at it all the time....thsi is my fav Christmas song, especially beign the Christmas fanatic I am...I only wish I can see her in person, and regret when living in NY, not. LOve U Darlene!!

  • Darlene Love's amazing christmas show live Dec 13 at BB Kings New York City NY and Dec 20 at Bergen Pac Englewood NJ. The first ever Ronnie Spector Darlene Love A Christmas Gift For You live shows Dec 11 at Parilla Pac Montgomery College Rockville MD and Dec 17 The Count Basie Theatre Red Bank NJ.

  • I am sure she outrocks Tina Turner

  • Darlene Love THE BEST FEMALE SINGER EVER !!!!

  • Amen!

  • She is Great! I saw her and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas,Myrtle Beach, 1968. The Vandellas had a big fat drummer, whos ass covered the stool. He was drinking, about halfway through the set he fell off the stool, passed out, another man picked up the sticks and kept on playing. Man, what a night. Darlene just keeps getting better. Love you girl.

  • Darlene is amazing and wonderful every year!! I especially like this year's outfit. I also love the expressions of joy on the faces of the singers lucky enough to back her up!!

  • shes a great singer!!

  • god, i'm going to really miss this once letterman retires some day :(

  • A Letterman high point. Thanks for posting. Missed it last year because of the Writer's strike and this year because of a party.

  • Great show, thanks!

  • What a happy sound.... It's not Christmas without Darlene Love on Letterman.

    Thanks!!!!

  • The annual Christmas visit from "Aunt Darlene" gets better and better each year. Another cool entrance for Bruce Kepler's sax solo.

  • LOVE her! Thank you for uploading. And thanks to Dave for having her on every year to sing this song! She sounds amazing!! :)

  • Oh thank you thank you! I forgot to watch Letterman last night and Darlene was sadly not on Letterman last year due to the writer's strike. I needed this. NOW it is Christmas!

  • I could sing just like her if I had any talent...which I don't. (sigh) :(

I love to listen to her sing. Thank you for posting this.

  • Oh my - thank you so much for posting this one! FANTASTIC!We dont get Letterman in the UK. Happy Christmas to you all.

  • The single greatest Christmas song of our generation by the goddess of rock 'n' roll. It really wouldn't be Christmas without Darlene Love. The lady freakin' rocks !! Kudos to CBS for going all out every year on the production of the song and all the work Paul puts in too.

  • God Bless Darlene! That voice is amazing MERRY CHRISTMAS

  • Love this song, as it (oddly enough) reminds me of the Gremlins opening credits :-)

  • if Elvis was the king , Darlene is the queen

  • Elvis was the king and I agree, Darlene is the queen.

  • classic...thanks for the post!

  • She sings better every year. What a fantastic singer. This song is a classic!

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

  • Thank you!!!!!!

    Merry Christmas everyone!

  • Thanks so much for posting this. We only get Letterman periodically, usually in the summer months so without this I would have missed out on yet another wonderful performance by Darlene Love. Quite simply, it is my all time favourite Christmas Song.

    Happy Christmas.

  • Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! I had taped last nights show, but it ran late and I lost the Darlene Love portion.... It is not Christmas w/o seeing her performance on Letterman. Thank You!!! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year !!!

  • I agree 100%...it's not Christmas for me until I see Darlene Love and the Hershey Kisses jingle bells commercial...

  • Love you Darlene. It wouldn't be Christmas without you -- and your album "It's Christmas of Course" too, of course.

  • Thanks for posting so soon. I couldn't stay up to watch had to work the next morning. Darlene Love great job!! Stay blonde and keep singing!! U look great and sound great. Now christmas is here whenever I hear her perform this song. Can anyone name all the background singers? I recognize Fonzi Thornton, Tawatha Agee. Part of Luther Vandross background regulars as was Darlene Love. I don't know the rest. Thanks again for posting :o)

  • Alot of New York's/East Coast's finest singers are backing Darlene up here showing us how the art of background singing 'should be done'. Aswell as Tawatha & Fonzi I can spot the lovely Cindy Mizelle (back row, far left) Ula Hedwig (back row, far right), Vanesse Thomas (middle row, far right). Not too sure on the others!

  • Talk about the cream of the crop. They were on everyone's recordings in the 70's and 80's.

  • Kingslice must be 75 and senile, this is the best x mas song ever and Darlene is the best, the sax player is from Pauls band and ther just highlighting his playing of the sax, u go Darlene, hope I'm there live next year. Rick

  • Wait... there was a puff of smoke then one of the curtains fell and out came Bruce? This one was strange.

  • Outstanding talent!!!!!

  • A testament to greatness. 67 years old? Not with those pipes! Merry Christmas!

  • One of the greatest beauties in Rock and Roll...

  • amaaazing voice...always entertaining

  • Wow! It just doesn't get any better than DARLENE LOVE and this Christmas song!

  • Thanks so much for posting...those of us that do not get Letterman on tv appreciate it. Now Christmas 2008 can start!! Great tradition and long may Darlene and Dave continue doing it.From Jonny, half way up a mountain in a cottage in Wales! Now let me search for the knocking off of the meatball from the Xmas tree :-)

  • I love this :-D Darlene Love on Letterman is just as much a part of my Christmas viewing each year as Rudolph, The Grinch, and Charlie Brown
