@johncraigclements I think u need to go back to reading the stats considering u forgot the most important 1!LOL pass deflections r the measure of a corner's dominance, wouldnt u say? Last season, i was amazed that so many QBs had short memories; revis shutdown every receiver and every week there would be a Qb who decides to test him and guess what the result was: deflected pass! Nnamdi is #1 cuz no1 even looks his way but woodson is #3 for a couple of simple reasons...
@johncraigclements Woodson doesnt blanket receivers as well as Revis or Nnamdi and the only reason he won the defensive MVP is because he was a playmaker...the only reason he had so many picks is the same reason Sharper had so many: they know how to read QBs and play zones better than any1.
@Shadapaga Woodson doesn't ever play linebacker or safety, he just plays a physical corner. He's an ideal corner in any system, because he's so versatile. You can blitz him, expect him to play great run support on the outside, play him in both man coverage and watch him take away any given receiver, and he consistently made big plays. Furthermore, Woodson is easily the best corner playing in space because he breaks so fast, has excellent hands, and is such a strong tackler.
If Shutdown corner is a MVP candidate then Champ Bailey would have 2-3 DEF MVPS. It is not enough you need to make GAME changing plays. Woodson had more INTs, TDs, Sacks, Forced Fumbles, and most importantly TACKLES for Loss...not to mention Revis's only 2009 TD was off a fluke play that bounced of a WR foot and he walked in the endzone. Love them both, Revis is the best cover corner and Woodson is the best overall football player in the secondary.
@HilltopperBaseball ok, i meant charles woodson plays as a lineback/safety. He is used all over the field, he is not on the depth chart as a lineback or safety but on the field the defense has very flexible fronts, and he lines up in the box or 15 yards off the line or as a corner. I dont know why you guys are having such a hard time with this concept.
Woodson is an all around corner no matter what ppl say about revis. Revis can cover but woodson can cover PLUS play the run, blitz, and even return kicks/punts which he didn't get a chance to do this season.
