Interesting, but astronomers still unsure wheres the source of this water.
The ancient water of Mars was very different with Earht' water. It's likely that there was no large ocean on Mars, but it seems that somewhere in the past, an enormous mega hyper supercalifragilistic flood happened in Mars (just like in this video). nobody really sure where is the source of this sudden flood.
I think it may have something to do with the lavas, the flooding r found mostly around Mars' volcanic area
@ashthegreat No its proven that there is a ice polar on the north pole of the planet. What we are trying to do now, it get there, and see if there is complex living life that adapted to living under the ice. Crazy huh? i believe life is alot closer then we think..
It's good to see someone enthusiastic such as yourself. But please try to considerately keep in mind that science can never prove something as you can never perfectly prove something to be true as truth is too hidden to be grasped and perfection cannot be ever be made without being changed in our completely dynamic world. Since ideas are generally stationary, it is too unlikely to be a good candidate as perfect models. Are what you think about right now perfect? What is perfection?
If you count the characters in my last post (simply copy-paste it into a new comment box and note the character remaining limit), you will somehow notice it is composed of exactly 500 characters - the limit for a typical Youtube video comment. And I did not intend that, at least not conciously, I think.
Back to the 1st point: If old "proof" itself has been proven to be wrong then what is proof other than a generalized belief by many people? Some exceptions lie in this "proof".
@ashthegreat What are you talking about? lol. i just simply said we have picture proof that there is ice on the north polar part of mars, and that we are trying to get there to see if there is life. And that i believe that there is life somewhere in our galaxy or beyond?
This is a simulation and not a real photograph, btw.
From atom analasis (something like that) and distinguishing the patterns returned by telescopes and radiowaves, etc, they were able to conclude that hydrogen and oxygen (bound together as H2O) were present on the planet.
Perhaps a telescope has seen polar icecaps on Mars but I'm not too sure about that. I remember hearing before in my Astronomy lecture that some planet (perhaps Mars) has carbon dioxide or methane "ice" caps?
how do you know what's going on in mars? You're not an astronaut i dont care how you spell it either anything could happen in this universe dont you get it? Not everything is impossible unless you believe it and dont say never.
people say 2012 is the ''end of earth''. maybe this whole time a new earth was being created, mars. water on mars, possible life, its starting to add up. maybe mars will be the next earth when this ne is gone...
interesting theory. Aincent civilization worshoped the sun and stars, and majority of how they maped things was the numer 12. 12 months, 12 star signs, (12 aposals). We are now in the time of Pisces, in 2012 will be end of Pisces time and in the time of Aquarious. Not the end of time, but the end of AGE!
Time and age had the same meaning in the bible. This caused the huge misunderstanding of the prediction. Youtube ''zeitguist relegion''. Its very good
Different gravity in Mars. This experiment will not yield a valuable hypothesis. The density of the liquid has to coincide with the flow speed due to less gravity. I don't know how these guys got away with that simulation.
The gravity on Mars represents only 38% of earths gravity. 38%!!!! Now you see my point. Things are heavier here on earth obviously and will flow differently. With 62% less gravity on mars, water flow will be lazier and small obstacles pose bigger resistance on a planet with less gravity. The discrepancy of 38% out of 100% is a huge number to overlook and natural erosion cannot be compared. If it was 5-10% it might be borderline OK to simulate, but 38% is irresponsible science. Good question tho=)
less gravity only means less weight. You can still have a very high mass flow given the right circumstances. Also, having less weight means it will also have less friction... They say that they reproduced the "pattern" found in Mars. It does not mean it is going to be exactly the same thing.
OK.. What would be the "right circumstances" that apply on Mars that we can apply here on Earths gravity? The probable way that you can have very high mass flow is by pressure.High pressure would shoot up and have a different pattern at the corona. What the mars pics show is just down stream gravity flow.Reproducing a pattern in science means it's right on the money or extremely close, otherwise it's hopeful mombojumbo. You don't get too many 2nd chances in Space. The above clip is ill information.
i think the river like images we see on mars are the effect of the wind not acciant water marks. If you go Death Vally here in California you can see simular patterns not created from water.
that educated person should learn english cause it's "ancient" not "aincient", "worshiped" not "worschoped", "mapped" not "maped", and "number" not "numer", "aquarius" not "aquarious" and last but not least it's "zeitgeist religion" not zeitguist religion", you didn't even notice you fucking retard, think before you comment and get a life!
i think i understood what you were saying, you said something like: "wat do you know? intelligent people don't allways know how to spell correctly and having mastered a language doesn't mean anything." Well i have to tell you that's true, but i'm not american or british, i'm belgian, so my native language is dutch, i do however speek fluent french, english, deutch and a lil' spanish and italian. your language kind of resembles dutch, for instance you say "vad vet du" in dutch we say "wat weet u"
Duh, we took some of the extra water with us when we moved to your planet tried to kill you all with it and when it finally dissolved back into the ground aground Asia. We came back to claim Earth somehow we missed some of you you're like roaches, but if that much water can disappear on mars and no one thinks anything of it why is the idea of a global flood here so unthinkable I wonder Lets face it if they really don't think they are going to find water on Mars stop wasting money looking for it
My question is why would water suddenly burst forth from beneath the surface? It seems a bit far fetched to me. Are they entertaining any theories of the canyon being a split from a quake (caused by an impact event or geological processes) and the fan a magma release that flowed into the crater and cooled there?
Mars has 1/3 the gravity of earth. Gravity is a main component in common formulas expressing the energy in linear flow regime (i.e rivers). How would this affect the results seen in an earth bound experiment?
Interesting. I think the evidence supports the theory that there was once water flowing on the surface of Mars. A pic of the "real crater," or a link to it in the description would have been a nice added touch.

Scientists believe there is ice on the polar caps of Mars.

@ashthegreat I mean the Martian water in the past, the one that caused the flood.

water doesent flow on mars it dissapears as soon as it hits the surface
hunglikeabull2007 3 years ago
Hence the ancient part. As in, this happened a long time ago, when the planet was, possibly, warm enough for it to sustain water.

Vad vet du? Försök lära dig ett annat språk. Människor kan vara väldigt intelligenta utan att kunna stava korrekt.
Bara för att man inte behärskar ett språk fullständigt betyder ingenting.
