  • wtf. I hope these elephant trainers die a terrible death.

  • Personally, I'm glad the elephants were able to help the people of Jopliln. . I'm sure they were not treated badly there. But I think the main objection is the use and treatment of elephants in circuses. I believe Ringling Brothers actually had a farm for retired circus elephants where they could live out their lives; but some circuses are smaller and not so generous to their animals. I have no tolerance at all for animal cruelty. .

  • @skolniks

Clearly if you support Ringling, you do have tons of tolerance for animal cruelty.

  • @veggiewarriors

Were you in Joplin when that Tornado hit? The entire city was torn apart the usual heavy equipment couldn't reach all the areas. The Elephants were at least able to help, and the people of Joplin are probably thankful the Elephants were there

  • @snakes3425

That doesn't change the fact elephants don't belong in circuses and that a developed country needs to come up with animal free alternatives in disaster management.

  • @veggiewarriors

How many people owe their lives to animals that are trained for search and rescue? Had the Elephants not pitched in those roads would've been blocked much longer then they were to aid and equpment. I hate the fact that animals have to be kept in cages at zoos and circuses but I also remember that many of these animals are facing extinction, given the choice I would rather see them in Zoos where they have a chance and some protection

  • @snakes3425

I see u've drank the Kool-aid about the conservation myth zoos propagate for profit.

    1) Captivity kills socially complex animals (esp. elephants/big cats/orcas) at a faster rate than the problems these animals face in the wild

    2) Captivity WASTES millions of dollars on keeping a handful of species caged when that money would SAVE THOUSANDS of WILD species if it were donated to a protected national park in the third world.

  • @snakes3425

    (Contd')

I never doubted the elephants helped the people of Joplin tremendously.

I am only saying that the captives paid with their lives, their dignity and their freedom for that operation, which is unethical and inexcusable in a rich, technologically advanced country like America.

If the people of Joplin feel truly indebted to the elephants, they more than any other group, need to fight for the freedom of elephants from captivity.

  • I didnt see that elephant even draw a deep breath, more like, ho hum, gimme a banana

  • Okay. Those people who were saying "if you don't live here, help somewhere else" have a lot of audacity to say so. I live a half hour away from Joplin, and we needed ALL THE HELP WE COULD GET. And the circus people wanted to help. Jeez. I'm sorry. I had to get that out.

  • @SadisticSerpentWoman agreed. I only live 10 minutes away and they have a lot of nerve saying that.

  • elephants were work animals log before the circus

  • I love elephants =D

  • That fucking ring going thru your head is affecting your thinking. If that elephant wanted to get up and leave...He would

  • @Phoenixmike100 Agreed, my friend. An elephant is much more powerful than a human. If he wanted to leave, he could easily trample those workers and run off into the sunset, or something goofy like that.

  • @SadisticSerpentWoman

The elephant's spirit has been broken in brutal and unnatural training exercises for the circus at a young age, so he will be too scared or too depressed to even imagine the possibility of doing something "goofy"

It's easy for you to talk this way because you are not the one tied up in chains when you're not "working" and made to perform like some wound up toy monkey on someone else's terms.

  • Ahh very sad, now what will the joplin people do to help this elephant when it is tied up in chains 23 hours of the day and beaten with a bullhook to perform? I bet the joplin people to nothing.

  • @sohcsarewicked Excuse me? We appreciate the help that is given. And trust me. Elephants can handle moving a few cars. Seriously. They could move an entire building if they wanted to. I am offended, being a Joplineer...

  • @SadisticSerpentWoman Well watch the video called "Joplin Missouri Elephant helps clean up tornado damage" who plans on helping these elephants?

  • Leave animal rights people alone. They care enough about animals to fight for them when people like you would see them suffer. Fuck you!

I'm glad the elephants can help; but you don't have to attack people that have more concern for animals and people than you.

  • Leave animal rights people alone. They care enough about animals to fight for them when people like you would see them suffer. Fuck you!

  • @skolniks Animal rights don't anything to with their time...Leave the poeple who love their animals and care dearly about their well being alone. Why don't you animals rights people look into the TB racing buisness...NOT ONE complaint againist them.

  • @skolniks The elephants weren't suffering. Trust me. Elephants have had a long history of being used as fleshy tractors way before the circus. They can handle moving a couple of cars here and there. -__________________-

  • @skolniks The animals weren't beaten. Calm down.

  • People complaining about the elephants don't make any sense. Animals have always helped humans and draft horses, etc actually enjoy doing so - as long as they are cared for and not overworked there is no problem! Humans and animals are companions (NOT equals) who help each other in need. Isn't it better to help save Joplin and its residents from the terrible effects of the tornado rather than to stand by and watch? I applaud the efforts of the circus people!

  • He shouldn't be kept in captivity in first place.

SECOND a human go, help and then get his/her a.s..s. in a worm, comfortable bad and sleep as much as they can. They don't go back into a SMALL cage.

THRID people go there willingly, they're not forced to pull cars and other stuff just because they're "capable of".

Animals sure helped man in the past and is was needed, but we have MACHINES that can do better than the elephant and faster. Use an animal to do such a thing is idiotic.

  • ever watch a circus crew set up and tear down a circus. Very organized and hard working, industrious people. As for the elephant they are utilized in similar fashion in their native regions routinely, and historically. So basically GET A GRIP and go hug something!

  • For all the jingoistic nonsense about being the greatest country in the world, it's shameful that a technologically advanced country like America is using a circus animal to clear wreckage and even has animal circuses to begin with.

    .

  • @Ajax1O1

Awww...that wonderfully unoriginal comment. A vegan diet will get those creative juices flowing.

  • @veggiewarriors but seriously. fag.

  • @Ajax1O1

    but seriously, unoriginal.

  • @veggiewarriors lolyusofag

  • @Ajax1O1

    mmchakawally

  • @Ajax1O1

Elephants in circuses are reduced to objects of entertainment for people. An elephant's place is in the wild with its relatives and companions. The totally unnatural existence for circus elephants is a travesty and to allow this practice to continue is unjustified and unethical. The elephants are not happy, nor do they enjoy what they are doing. The maintenance and training of circus elephants involves emotional and physical abuse. "

    - Joyce Poole, elephantvoices. org

  • @veggiewarriors super cool quote bro. is he a fag too?

  • @Ajax1O1

    elephantvoices. org

  • @veggiewarriors I happen to know this family personally and have grown up around this elephant including performing under the same big top. She has been in the family for decades and has a very happy home that she can roam and is very well taken care of. I see her year round and she is a welcome hero in our small town. I think that you should do your research before start to bash the people that care dearly for her well being. Ignorance is an excuse.

  • @waddles84

I had a very specific reason for providing that link, elephantvoices. org.

B/c it is a database of over 30 years of research of >10,000 elephants (captive and wild) by the world's most foremost authority on them.

So maybe you visit it before lecturing me on ignorance.

Now to address your point, I don't doubt the family may have the best intentions for ele.

But to keep a captive i.e a prisoner (a wild animal) in chains and claim to love him is a perversion of love, isn't it?

  • Joplin needs those elephants to help uncover any bodies that may be buried under the rubble. Why anyone would object to that is beyond my understanding.

  • I think its a wonderful idea I agree animal rights peeps are gay

  • @willdabeast8888333 Nah, it would cost too much to feed her fat ass. Not to mention, you know that bitch is lazy as hell.

  • This goes to show you how little these idiot animal rights people know about animals. Especially domesticated work animals. As long as you don't over work them, they love it. These circus people love their animals, yea some treat them badly, but most don't. Anyone who's worked with dogs, mules, elephants, camels, and many other beasts of burden know that the animals love to work. It's like play time for them as long as they are treated correctly. Like some bitch with shit in her face knows much

  • @rebelnomo

Firstly, if it's work, you can't call it "play time".

Animals love to work huh? How come you don't hear of an elephant in the savannah or the Asian forest abandoning his herd, knocking on a human being's door, begging to have a chain tied around his feet and carry logs around the city?

    You're an idiot.

And FYI, there's no such thing as a domesticated elephant. What you see is a captive WILD elephant.

  • @veggiewarriors I don't man, here at my work it's like play time alot.

  • @rebelnomo

    That's coz you're not a circus elephant.

  • I'm surprised by the people who think that animals shouldn't work, and that ALL circus training is cruel. I agree that some of it is, but it unlikely that animals trained by those sorts of methods would be calmly working at a new and unique task in an unfamiliar environment. These trainers have obviously taught their elephants to understand a form of communication that has little to do with just doing tricks. The elephants probably very much enjoyed the change of pace.

  • People bitching about the elephants doing work should've thought about that before they parked their cars in front of a tor-fucking-nado.

  • Elephants have always been used to help move heavy things. Rather than standing around Complain about the Circus Helping. Why aren't you helping while there working behind you.

  • Also the circus people "GENUINELY" want to help not "GENERALLY" want to help out.

  • What a third world country we live in! Using animals instead of man-made machinery. Nice to know where all our tax money is going. What a joke...

  • Q - How many idiots does it take to move a car instead of an elephant?

A - No one knows, because the idiots obviously couldn't figure out how to do it, & the elephant had to do it for them!

  • Hats off to the circus! Good for all of you... including the elephants! Love to leave it at that, but can't bite my tongue for the whiners in that piece - I'm sure search & rescue/cadaver dogs are in Joplin now - did you complain that those dogs are being exploited too? Elephants are incredibly intelligent, highly socialized creatures - they probably had a very good sense that they were helping, & were happy to do so. Help was needed, and help was given. Sit down, be quiet & be grateful.

  • The people who are against the elephants helping are just plain wrong.

  • This is an awsome idea...i like the chick who talks about ppls saftey, like people are in more danger from an elephant that is not trapped in a huge tent in front of a shit load of ppl

  • What a great way to save gas !

  • Fucking idiots....That elephant can pull a fucking train. Good job circus people

  • to all these dumbshit that say "where are the animal rights" well guess what they dont have rights, we take care of them because we love them, and making them helping us clean up the mess wont hurt them, we've been using animals for thousands of years and it wont change now especially when we need them

  • WTF you cant skip ads anymore which means people are pissedbut there are no "OMG ADS" or "PRESS 0:01 TO SKIP" comments.Interesting.I guess they grew out of making stupid comments.

  • Ohhh their wittle home all broke up and they want to contwol the wittle people that are there to help? HELLO the POTUS visited your town because you had a major disaster not to get your ideas. IF you live in tornado alley you should DEMAND a home that will be TORNADO PROOF ! Build monolithic dome homes or AI domes that are made of conrete and have been proven tornado proof. Yes they have had an experience but snobs are the ones making domes uncommon I HATE SNOBS ! I want a DISASTER PROOF HOME !

  • Comment removed

  • @TacoBell5121 No I am not saying ALL but the snob needs to shut the hell up unless she has a front end loader in her pocket ! I can't get a loan for a dome home bc snobs like her that want to poke their snout in everybodys business and act an ass when people want to buy one. Fashion is so retarded bc they are so worried if something looks slightly differnt. Hey be fashionable but make sure you have a strong engine with adequate protection AKA IT HAS TO WORK FIRST DING A LING !

  • Comment removed

  • @TacoBell5121 Apology accepted I was hit by a tornado 9/10/99 it is beyond difficult see I use to be so healthy I walked the streets of any city in this nation. Now pukes on the web only see a fat man they don't see the health person that was injured and is left with what I have to fill out my time left here. These people are going to have a tough time yes but they have many people to experience it with I did it all alone no one understood they just see a unemployed man never asking WHY.

  • @TacoBell5121 And you claiming that domes are big $ is another problem they don't use any more material than a stick built home in fact they use less their strength in in the application of the material. If people would just consider a dome home they would go with them it is insane what they are doing build weak structures then want to boss people around when their home has relocated 5 blocks away. Sure we need loans to build them they are major purchases but they are on par $ wise with stick

  • @TacoBell5121 They lost their loved ones in a tornado if they were in a car or caught out that is traic but if they died in a home that was constructed and they had the option to build a structure that could perserve their lives in the event of a tornado then I see it as darwinism. You are barking at me and I want to SOLVE the problem. Are you computing what I am trying to say FIX THE PROBLEM STOP THE LIFETIME OF BITCHING AND MOANING AND FIX THE PROBLEM DEMAND DOMES THAT DEFEAT TORNADOS!

  • @TacoBell5121 If you live in anything less than a concrete dome home then you might as well live in a TENT! IF you think tents are fashionable then you are right but if you think tents are fashionable in a storm then you have never tried to sleep in a tent in a storm like me. I HAVE HAD MY BACK BROKEN BY A TORNADO I KNOW THEIR POWER SO I WANT THE DOME ! So don't lay the guilt trip on me I know what it is like to have your life altered by extreme weather but I lived am I better off?

  • I Love Animals!

  • I wanna be strong like an elephant

  • @UnblockedOne2 hahaha faggot

  • omg these animal rights people are so gay, if a human can go in and help clean up then so can an animal. animals have been working along side people for thousands of years.

  • @mikebarriga so gay, no. Idiots, yes.

  • @mikebarriga plus the circus folk aren't hitting or hurting the elephant in anyways so its not really animal abuse its only dangerous really if its a male elephant in musk

  • @mikebarriga Some of the animal rights people just want to protest for protest's, not necessarily the animal's, sake. I mean, exactly how does this hurt the elephants: did the elephants tell someone that this work is painful to them and that they feel exploited by it? Besides, did the elephants have other plans for the day?

  • @rmsolympic1 - So elephant can talk now? genius...

  • @geordiepup Yes. In fact, the Oliphaunt in this video is named Einstein, and he said don't hate, participate:)

  • @mikebarriga Thank You!!! some people are just fucking idiots....

  • @mikebarriga Why don't you shut your stupid mouth!!? You are obviously a homophobe AND an animal hater. Circuses have abused animals for years. Your comment that animals have "worked alongside ppl for 1000s of years" has nothing to do with the FACT that elephants & other animals have been tortured in circuses for hundreds of years. How else do you think the animals are taught to do those tricks? By giving them treats? Grow a brain, moron.

  • @NotsoNutso Why don't you shut YOUR stupid mouth and find something relevant to cry about you fucking douche.

  • @NotsoNutso homophobe???? why would i be scared of homo's?? am i going to get beat to death with a flip flop or get my hair pulled?? I know that the circus isnt perfect butdo you really think it's "torture" for an animal to have a job it doesnt like?? do you flip out when you see an old guy sweeping floors and scrubbing toilets? does a tear come to your eye when you see a dude in his 30's flipping a burger?? if not then shut your mouth when you see an elephant pulling a car for victims!!!!!!!!!
