  • as you went throught the genetics bit i was so happy to recognise it from class :)

  • Does Ben Stein have a career now? This movie was a while back now, so what has he done since then?

  • @Logic4Win Follow up; It seems that Stein has had a couple dozen engagements since, a few voice gigs for animated shows, and a scattering of guest speaking spots. Late Late Show and CBS seem to love Stein.

  • video response: How to say "how are spanish language tutorial videos in any way relevant responses to the topic of ben stein's ignorance about evolution and science?" in spanish.

  • @thenaimis They have girls with bulging boobs. :D

  • "No intelligence allowed". What's the inverse of an oxymoron?

  • Comment removed

  • Ben Stein's collosal ignorance can't be blown out of the water, his head is too thick.

  • 4:51

    lol...nicely put.

  • Mr T says.....

    YOU FOOL!!!!

  • Also, I think there's something really important to be understood about creationist attempts to undermine the scientific method. I don't think they genuinely fail to understand it at all. Some of them are fairly intelligent people, it's just that they want the rest of us to completely disregard facts and accept the belief system that gives them the power to run our country. It's not about saving souls, it's about winning votes, and completely fucking the public education system in the process.

  • Gah, evolutionists are so retarded to believe that life originated with the singular event of lightning striking a mud puddle! Everyone knows it was God blowing into a handful of dirt!

  • Ben Stein is an utter retard.

  • I used to have respect for Ben Stein.

  • @ciuacoatl same here. At some point I realized his 'intelligence' just comes from memorized facts used in gameshows, not critical thinking.

  • If someone created a religion based on the teachings of Ethel the aardvark, I'd join in a heartbeat.

  • Creationists say that elements can not create other elements. We say. THE SUN!!! and here is the exact reason why. The Atomic bomb! Here is exactly why. A Dying star!! Here is exactly why. "Ya but where's the evidence"? The Nuclear power plant where you get your electricity from. Here's how. Here's 50 books on it. Here's 50 videos. Ya but where's the evidence? Ever hear of Hubble or Apollo missions. You can see what the Universe looked like 13.7 billion years ago. Ya but....God did it. Absolute

  • Its pointless arguing. Creationists and theists ask for proof. It is given in abundance. They say but where's the evidence? We give more. They say, but where's the evidence? Their Brains are underdeveloped and physically can't process data. If you see all the advances in the world as a whole, all the technology, and still won't even entertain the idea? Pathetic.

  • Ben Stein is an egregious liar and one of the most willfully ignorant people I've ever seen.

  • The clip at 2:19 is from one of my favorite education videos about DNA. It was very entertaining to watch.

  • religion is a dirty word

  • "The only difference between a cult and a major religion is the amount of real estate they own."

    --Frank Zappa

  • ethl the aardvark. what a boss

  • The sad thing is, this guy and his creationist supporters have no idea of the chemicals or processes you outline. It's all big fancy words that go over their heads..

  • An excellent video!

  • Kent Hovind is in jail because he was trying to warn the world that their is a dark agenda out there that aims at destroying the morality of every man woman and child making them into beasts. In fact Darwinism states that we evolved from mere beasts. God says you should hold your head up because you have been given free will by an all powerful all wise and all loving Creator. Jesus answered "Woe to them who worship the Created (Monkeys/Primates) rather then the Creator."

  • @csmcmillion Evolution, and indeed not Darwinism or Evolutionism, does not expain the origin of life, it explains the diversity of life (hence the name of the book: the origin of spieces).

    And yeah, God loves slaughtering...

  • @Floortjahh Yes, I know. My statement "We evolved from the most primitive forms of life" reflects only the fact that we are simply colonies of single cells.

  • @JamesRideout123 No, Hovind is in jail for tax fraud. Even a brief look at Wiki could have taught you that

  • @JamesRideout123 Lol at: have been given free will. It's a contradicting phrase

  • @Floortjahh We have free will there is nothing contradicting about it.

  • @JamesRideout123 if free will has been given to you, you really didn't have a say in it, did you? It is therefore a contradicting statement.

  • @Floortjahh That is just stupid. Free will means Free will which means the freedom to do whatever you want regardless of where it came from. Why would you want a say in having free will? Would you rather Authoritarianism?

  • @JamesRideout123 by calling it stupid without any arguements you're only making my case more.

But let's think about this for a second. If you are religious, do you really have free will?

  • @Floortjahh Well I have free will to be nice to people and it just so happens that the religion I believe in encourages just that. Religion is only bad when people take bad parts out of it or somehow try to misconstrue certain parts of it like Romans 13 which Hitler misconstrued for his own purposes.

  • @JamesRideout123 But then, you are nice because you are led by the commandments. You are nice because you want to get into heaven and not go to hell. You get your morality from God. So how can this be free will? You act that way because God commands it. Because if you don't you go to hell.

How can this be free will? Isn't it much more admirable to be moral on your own? Out of free will? Without fear of eternal damnation?

  • @Floortjahh Point taken but the fact of the matter is if it wasn't for this I highly doubt there would be many people who would be nice to people and even fewer who would adhere to the rule of law if it wasn't for fear of God and his judgments. I would hate to say that people in the end can only be ruled by fear like animals but unfortunately this is the case most of the time. People will walk all over the good guys and will not stop until they get scared. I know from experience.

  • @JamesRideout123 There are people all over the world who do not believe in God and are prefectly able to do good. In fact, a civilization would not be able to survive if everyone went pludering and killing everyone else. It makes perfect sense to think that humans as a highly social species would have evolved to be nice to each other, otherwise that civiliztion would not have been able to survive. Especially in small communities, where the people around you were probably members of your family

  • @JamesRideout123 on the other hand, is it not true that people, thinking they have God on their side, will do wicked and evil things? Things a normal person would not think of doing?

    The famous Hitchens challenge:

Name an ethical or moral statement made or action performed by a believer in the name of faith that could not have been by an infidel.

Name a wicked action that could only have been performed by a person of faith.

  • @JamesRideout123 You believe animals "only be ruled by fear"? Disturbing.

  • @TheNaughtypine In a severe situation, for example if you were surrounded by wolves and all you had was a rifle or a gun you would fire the rifle or gun and the wolves would flee. Why is that? Because fear has taken over them. In that situation you would control it by fear. Running out and trying to hug the wolves isn't going to help you and when you look at the mob mentality of the US the same rules apply. People who act like animals deserve to be treated like them.

  • Stein is at Benstein99@aol.com

  • @csmcmillion how did you find this?

  • @MoralRapist What - Stein's address? It's on his website.

  • All hail Ethel

  • Gotta love Fox News...News for the uniintelligent....

  • What's cool poster at 2:05?

  • ben stein is an asshat.

  • calling him a fool does not make away that he's right.

  • lightning striking a mud puddle is more believable than some magic man blinking life into existence.

  • @Cheapshot420420 I don't even know why he is trying to disprove the mudpuddle thing... what scientist has ever put that theory forward? He created the idea so he is arguing with himself

  • @RobBrooksMusic

Creationists and ID proponents don't have a leg to stand on when they try to refute evolution as it is properly used in science...so they solve this problem by lying about what evolution is. This is called a straw man argument.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheZooCrew Are all Christians Creationists? Because to be a Christian you have to think God make the Earth in 7 days right?

  • @RobBrooksMusic

    No.

Creationists are a minority in Christianity. Christian merely means "follower of Christ." My favorite example of a Christian without nonsensical dogma is Thomas Jefferson, who actually arranged his own Bible (The Jefferson Bible) to do away with all the hogwash but keep all of Jesus' lessons about compassion.

  • @RobBrooksMusic No, but to believe that God did not create the earth in 7 days is to admit that the first few pages of the book of Genesis, the first book of the bible, is entirely fiction. Draw the conclusion from what you will.

  • @taiwanoob I conclude that if people blindly believe the part of the book that says jesus had supernatural powers, they should also believe the part that say god made the Earth in 7 days, and so christians (followers of jesus christ) should be creationists. If they don't, they aren't exhibiting "faith", as they call it.

The other conclusion is that IF creationists are a theological minority, statistics show that religious people are stupid... am I going wrong anywhere in my thinking here?

  • @RobBrooksMusic Precisely, you can't just reject part of the bible and accept only the good parts as true. That's like giving a person who scored 40% on an English test an A because "the other answers are right".

  • There is no hope for this world if people not only listen to this kind of crap american television, but actually believe and agree what he is saying!!! We need nothing more then a SILENT REVOLUTION to fix the world for future generations..

  • Woot Ethel the Aadvark! Respect to the Thunderf00t's Monty Python knowledge!

  • Creationists deserve to be persecuted. They are holding the species back with their weak minds. Survival of the fittest, baby.

  • @williamgivens If they weren't serious, why did they make a documentary? to even open up with that is stupid let alone to an evolutionist.

  • I remember learning about Darwin's Finches in middle school. Fucking middle school. How is it Stein never heard of them?

  • ... Is there a plush of this "Ethel"? I would totally pay money for it.

Jokes aside, I remember when he had that show, "Win Ben Stein's Money". It's frightening how someone who was that intelligent could be so stupid as to take stock in Creationism and say things that are outright wrong.

  • @williamgivens yeah, they just didnt have a fucking clue what Evolution was. This is evident when stein said "did we originated from a lightning strike in a mud puddle?" the only people it would have eye opend would have been illiterates in Science.

  • @Danyman258 If you believe they were completely serious - then you would believe anything !

  • Stein's movie raised some good issues. Live with it.

  • @williamgivens

Yeah...it raised the issue that documentaries can be full of blatant lies that can be exposed by a simple Google search and people will still believe them.

  • @TheZooCrew What people had to say for themselves weren't lies - and a real eye opener to most people.

  • @williamgivens

"What people had to say for themselves weren't lies"

I can easily prove that every person who was "expelled" as portrayed in the movie either distorted or blatantly lied about their situation. Scientific American did a short expose, but they softpedaled. ExpelledExposed goes through the entire movie and corrects all the lies with independent sources.

  • @TheZooCrew Yes, no one is perfect that's for sure. Anyway I was referring to Dawkins and co when I said "What an eye opener" The point here is academic freedom and not personal lives and Stein does a good and balance job at dragging the witch hunters into the light.

  • @williamgivens

"The point here is academic freedom and not personal lives"

Which is precisely what I was addressing. There's no evidence of unwarranted persecution.

"Stein does a good and balance job at dragging the witch hunters into the light. "

No. He does a good job lying and distorting the world of science. Mark Mathis specifically chose ONLY a few well-known atheist biologists and totally ignored well-known Christian scientists who accept evolution ON PURPOSE.

  • @williamgivens

What "witch hunters?" Dawkins, Myers and the rest were lied to about their own interviews. They were told they were being interviewed for a totally different movie and it was shown as soon as the movie came out that this was a deliberate deception. In addition, both suffered from heavy editing of their interviews and Dawkins was actually cut off mid-sentence at one point. The entire "documentary" was a sham that demonstrated nothing except Stein's lack of integrity.

  • @williamgivens

I actually question whether you can actually read English, seeing as your entire comment was a non sequitur in response to my post.

  • Until Ben Stein did that f**king video I actually had a bit of respect for him.

  • At the beginning of the video i thought he was talking about creationists.

  • This is great, is there any way to get this as a downloadable whole?

  • YOU FOOL!

  • No one with a functional brain can possibly believe in creation.

It has been disproven by real science.

I think that he really doesn't believe what he is saying, it is impossible that anyone who can read would be that stupid.

I think the reason he is saying what he is saying is to keep people talking about him.

He subscribes to the “Let them talk bad about you, just so they are talking about you” theory.

He just tries to stay in the public eye.

You are giving him the attention he craves.

  • @legion1a You are so mean! He so has a functional brain, why else are my eyes so clear after smoking a joint? (Sorry, I thought this was slightly funny..)

  • @b33p3rz

You ask how Ben Steins eyes can be so clear after smoking a joint.

He does the VISINE Eye Drops commercials.

I'm sure they give him free samples.

(It was more than slightly funny)

  • @legion1a Lol that was what I was joking about but I meant me haha

  • @legion1a I DO believe this man is that stupid... many people just WANT to believe what they want... he doesn't have room in his head for the truth

  • "Faradayism"

    :)

  • @ToASmallerScale Am I the only one who broke out with, "Day-oh!! Day-ay-oh! Faraday come and I wanna go home"?

  • I pitty the fool!

  • I don't understand why people fight evolution... it is blatantly obvious that it exists. The irony is, religions evolve.

  • Ben Stein is a washed-up economist who does Visine commercials. Him making a documentary about evolution is akin to Kim Kardashian teaching a class on astrophysics.

  • Why on earth did Ben Stein get media attention in the first place?

  • I saw this movie and it has no evidence for Intelligent Design. It also tried to state that Nazism=Darwinism...whatever that is. The only lesson I for behavior I can find in the theory that explains observable evolution is to be tolerant for genetic diversity because its the only source of new information for your species. The more different people are, the wider the chance your species has to be adapted to your environment.

BTW, Ben Stein is an economist and lawyer.

  • I agree on your points in this video toward ben stein, however, a good portion of your video is nothing more than a straw man argument toward his video...

  • @wolftone1916 Do you see how many videos there are in this series? He made his point long ago.

  • "You Fool! And double damn fool!" Lol

  • Teaching creationism as something that is true in biology class is like saying magic pixies create electricity in physics class.

  • Stein is locked in by the brainwashing society has forced down his throat since birth. reminds me of a famous quote. “Every man is a creature of the age in which he lives, and few are able to raise themselves above the ideas of their time.” Voltaire

  • the sun ISN'T pulled across the sky by fire horses? why do you hate my religion?

  • Can anyone imagine if every professor in the world was Ben Stein?

  • @Thunderf00t, can you PLEASE message me your phone number? Im going to NY in a couple weeks and I need a mobile shoutout incase I catch the Cash Cab lol

  • Richard Dawkins is a sex maniac!

  • YOU FOOL

  • Day 20: A child who I was supervising pointed a stick at a spider dangling off a tree and shouted AVADA KEDAVRA (with a cute little kid Quebec accent).

The spider fell to the ground a second after.

I stared at him and he stared at me. Neither of us said anything. He then started raising the same stick at me.

    I ran for my life.

  • @AlexRaveloTV haha! i cant tell if that was a joke or not-either way it was funny.if it was a joke props to you mate

  • @werewolf873 XD

  • Is that really your voice? It sounds great!

  • Ben Stein. Are you a Scientists? Forgot ...you are AN IDIOT.

  • ben stein is a schmuck

  • 1:46 Just earlier today someone mentioned "Darwinism" to me, and I made the same argument as you (except I said Pascalism and Bohrism)! What a coincidence!

  • I'm an atheist, but I'd convert so easily to Christianity if it really did believe the universe did begin when "an overweight, three-legged ardvark called Ethel did a little happy dance." That would be an awesome creation story.

  • @TheMessiersAndromeda

And, it would be more logically coherent than the bible.

  • @96rorrim

    Very true.

  • @TheMessiersAndromeda and it would make a little more sense.

  • This has to be a chain-yank. 'Evolution is lightning striking a mud puddle' is an order of magnitude funnier than even 'The internet is a series of tubes.' Until now, I didn't think Ben Stein was that good a comedian.

  • Science has proof without any certainty. Creationists have certainty without any proof.

  • @alanfujinami

What's this? A creationist who dismisses evidence out of hand for no reason, invents definitions, blatantly lies, and relies on unimportant, outdated arguments from authority?

I might have a heart attack and die from "not surprise."

  • @alanfujinami Elegant information system? In which one minor fluctuation causes huge consequences? Retardation and other handicaps? Can make you prone to disease? Yup, the "system" sure is "elegant".

You're right Alan. Evolution has no proof. No fossils. No evidence whatsoever. But you religious nut jobs have the most damning evidence... A MAN-MADE, MAN-WRITTEN BOOK THAT'S BE REWRITTEN AND TRANSLATED A THOUSAND TIMES OVER. Man, that sure is an end-all debate killer.

  • @alanfujinami Typical religious reply. Science does not require faith. It requires logic. Sure, there are many questions that science can answer with 100% certainty, but they can give you evidence for which their logic tells them the answer is. TANGIBLE evidence. The bible is much too vague along the same lines as fortune cookies. If your God is real, then he/she is a very ambiguous God. BTW, don't call me bitter when it is religious people who say I'll be damned in hell for my beliefs.

  • @alanfujinami "Historical accuracy" hahaha

  • @alanfujinami

nothing proves the bibles historical accuracy, only eye witness reports from illiterate bronze age arabs. also, archeology has constantly disproven bible made claims.

  • @alanfujinami "As you yourself stated, you admittedly say that you lack proof" That was SARCASM!

"Archaeology also proves Bible's historical accuracy" Nope.

Archeology shows NO record of the Hebrews being in captivity in Egypt.

It shows that Jericho burned to the ground over 150 years BEFORE Joshua arrived. Google for d "Kathleen Kenyon", the archeologist who showed that the Bible story was WRONG.

Ezekiel 26 said Nebuchadnezzar would conquer Tyre - he didn't. So much for prophecy.

  • @alanfujinami "Who ever made this video is the fool." Wrong. He's a research scientist at an Ivy League university with a Phd in Biochemistry. He understands the theory of evolution, you don't. There is no difference between "macro" and "micro" evolution

DNA supports the TOE as do fossils, morphology, homogeneous retro viruses, predictions such as fusion of human chromosome #2, and a creature like Tiktaalik found in the geographic region AND the strata where theory said it should be found.

  • you insult burger flippers... now the won't make more cheesburguers :(

  • Ppl can't b that dumb. I'm calling shamans on this one.

  • you fool!

  • "you fool"

  • I find that rubbing a rabbits foot is far more reliable than prayer. But this is expected since rabbits are real.

  • I hate to be a wet blanket, but I'm pretty sure Stein does understand those things. Or at the very least the promoters of his movie did. If he genuinely believed what he said he should jump at the chance to be interviewed on more critical, intelligent shows than Glen Beck. The fact that he doesnt means he has enough of an education to know the things he's saying are lies. F*** you Ben Stein, you f****** s***stain!

  • Proponents for Intelligent Design & the Kalam Cosmological Argument claim that their GOD was not designed? How can they know this with such self assurance? Apes like you and me, with access to all the same information, they've come to embarrassingly unsound specious conclusions. Based on the data one CAN'T know, infer, intuit, reason, or deduce as they have. The hubris! (complex things must have a designer, but our complex designer is un-designed) Let's have our cake and eat it too.

  • @mouthyweasel

It's a special pleading fallacy in spades.

It's all dogma, which is why they systematically reject evidence they don't like.

  • @TheZooCrew agreed.

  • @mouthyweasel I just had to google the kalam cosmological argument and holy lol is that "god in the gap" getting mighty agrophobic in that one. "God made everything" "No natural causes did" "Ok god designed species" "Pans out evolution did" "God made the earth" "No that seems to have formed from gasseous clouds in the early solar formation "OK God created the universe then" *steven hawkins rolls onto the stage like an intellectual gangsta* "Doh!"

  • Ben Stein: Born from lightning striking a mud puddle.

  • All that you say during these videos are so obvious to me that they don't even need any explanation. It comes from something called Common Sense. I can't believe how underdeveloped the the thinking facilities of some people must be in order to enable them to seriously believe in such a blistering bullshit like "A magical guy spitted out our world and needs us to kiss his ass constantly.". I admire your dedication at showing those things to people.

  • Ethel the Aardvark goes quantity surveying. Great book.

  • I can feel your contempt in every word that you uter ! And I'm ashamed to say that was a compliment. Love your videos, keep it up.

  • God damned fucking insane shit hole cult savages!

  • Relativity was first established by Galileo, no? Einstein did Special and General relativity...

  • @lostfanvanjellies22 yeah, I think I heard that on QI

  • nevermind, i spoke to soon, the guys name was mentioned

  • who is the guy in the begining , i recall seeing him in some movies, isn't he an actor

  • um darwins finches is an adaptation, not evolution, you fool.

  • @22yankev Not sure if trolling...

    Or just very stupid.

  • Thunderf00t keeping his pimp hand strong.

  • Is there a way to get this in it entirety?

  • Forget the Atheist vs. Theist debate. We still have to battle the Science vs. Bullshit debate!!! (Naturally those two run together)

  • Watching Thunderf00t while eating ben and jerry's ice cream is the best

  • Dex1391 Your error is to assume that atheism can be converted to. We do not have churches or scripture. Atheism is simply a standpoint of reason over belief/faith. If you can't listen to what's being said on channels like this, then you're too dug in to your own belief. Why should I then waste my time trying to show you everything again?

  • Thunderf00t, you're awesome. I'm glad that someone's in the public/internet debunking the jaded creationist statements and people out there!

  • Documentary or DUNGumentary ?

  • at 4:46 isn't it possible that a burger flipper has taken the job because grad school is expensive?

  • I think that Ben Stein has lost a few tiles on re-entry.

  • Ben Stein is a stupid fool. Disgusting ignorant individual.

  • that univerisity quote from Stein beggard belief, a fucking creationist saying universities spout nonsense?

  • I pity that fool

  • It's fun listening to this guy "blow them out of the water," but the next person who says "You fool!" is getting a boot up their ass.

  • lightning stiking a mud puddle is lightning producing compounds required for amino acids and DNA molecules to form in the primordial soup. Nothing to do with evolution but it is to do with the origin of life on earth. Another requirement is meteor strikes.

  • wow y is this guy so smart im sooo jealous

  • dayum hes killen em...go evolution guy

  • I hope Ben Stein sees this video
