I would like to be able to say that today's music is better than music from 40 years ago - but I can't, because it isn't.To the days when music was played by real musicians ...
@ernstbecker1 Ernest!! I'm from Oakland! And I'm the youngest of three brothers. I was in elementary school when this came out, and you're right! NOTHING COMPARES TO THIS SONG TODAY!
Its such fun reading all the comments on here. I was around a decade before this amazing era but feel it just the same. I sense this longing from everyone to get right back to it... groove on!!
Arthurio, I heard this many, many years ago on the radio in my apt in Greenwich Village. I danced around like a crazy person. Then it ended and I never knew the name of it! It wasn't until recently that I found it, thanks to you.
This song reminds me of my boy Curt,,,,, back in the day at Trenton High School. This was his favorite. Whenever I played this for him,,,,, he would start clapping his hands and stomping his feet, like he was in church or something. The rest of us would always crack-up........ Great song,,,,,Great album.
OH WOW ! i didn't remember the title, but i remember this was one of the firts guitar-melodies i learned to play while listening to records ... what a memory !
Thx arthurio, Thx Youtube, memories so full of feelings! :)
I remember when I went to their concert, This groove came about when they asked Redd Foxx what should they play, and he told them to just "Put it where you want it", and that's how the song came about. For real. I kid you not.
saw them in Seattle at the old Paramount Theater in 71' I think. They did this tune and many others to a Sunday afternoon house of two or so hundred people.., while the rest of the world missed a great concert. Still moves me.
Everything was so great on that album. Put it where u want it, mud hole, sweet revival, full moon, that's how i feel etc... even the cover was so great. Thanx for the posting. Oh... those years!
Awesome music! I love the Crusaders. My other favourites are "Way Back Home" and "I'm so Glad I'm Standing Here Today", featuring Joe Cocker on vocals.
I had this album when I was young and newly married. Many years later when we divorced we fought over this album! It's nice to hear this again after all these years. ;)
my favorite crusaders song since the middle eighties. Thanks to my pop (whatever he's doing right now. hopefully nothing stupid again ;)
ok, i'll leave now, cuz i have to listen to "so far away" with the "breathtaking" sax-tune ;) (still wanna know the technique for this unbelievable long sax tune)
Ca you a sixteen year old musician getting this record from his mom? It blew me away then and still does!!!

@61Slughi You're right !
I was in Oakland during this time frame. This tune turns back the clock. I doubt if there is anything that compares to this song today.
