    Ostinato means a musical pattern which repeats, and as the bass drum pattern is repeating here, that does make it an ostinato ;)

  • nice groove. have you checked the peter Erskine pattern? its similar but he adds a slightly different twist to it, also worth learning like your pattern.

  • Thanks for the tip. I play in a 18 piece big band and play a few quiet bossa nova charts (like Girl From Impanema). I'm going to try this technique today at one of our gigs to see the different flavor this will add. Thanks again!
