@MajBlood With Dash Rendar? This game took place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, so to defeat Vader outright in Shadows of the Empire would not have made sense. Though I have to admit, the game play of SOTE was so great, that I was pretty pissed off that they never made other Star Wars games like it, only with being able to use Luke/Han etc. like in the SNES games. Imagine running around an N64 Return of the Jedi with Luke and his light saber... oh, what could have been

@pumarunner88 Psh, storyline be damned. This was back when the expanded universe was just getting off the ground. So when you played a Star Wars you expected to fight Darth Vader and meet the famous characters. Not saying some guy like Dash Rendar would beat Darth Vader, but a boss battle would be fun. You "beat him" but then a cutscene shows him getting away or you running away or something like that.

@MajBlood I get what you're saying, but Vader just wouldn't have made sense in this game. The story line was based on Rendar gathering information on Black Sun so the Alliance wouldn't have to worry about them. I don't know the story perfectly, but Black Sun was essentially adversaries with both the rebellion and the Empire, hence why both are attacking Xizor's ship at the end. There was a fight with Boba Fett and IG88, what more do you want? Vader just wouldn't have made any sense in this game.

@pumarunner88 Oh cmon man. Could you possibly be saying that you would not like to fight Darth Vader? Star Wars has enough plot holes and retcons as it is. It isn't exactly shakespeare. There could have been a level in an imperial base and you end up running into Darth Vader who is doing an expection. He throws shit at you with the force and charges you with his lightsaber that'd kill you in 2 or 3 hits.

@MajBlood But I don't think a Darth Vader battle would have had a place in this game. I mean, he'd just block all of the laser shots anyway, and Rendar never had a light saber, so what would be the point? It would have made a lot more sense to have a fight with Xizor, though. Rendar could very possibly have defeated him. But to have Vader getting knocked off by Rendar, or basically anyone other than Luke? Sorry, just doesn't add up.

@pumarunner88 Dude I am saying you would fight Vader, not kill him. I can tell you are a big Star Wars fan but not as big a video game fan. There are plenty of games where you fight some boss character who is stronger than you and you "beat them" run down their health bar, but all that does is activate a cutscene. Usually where your character ends up getting his ass kicked anyway. Besides Jedi arn't invulnerable to blasters, Boba Fett kills Jedis all the time. Heck in the game Star Wars Battlef

@MajBlood I was hoping we'd fight Prince Xizor in this game too since he was the main villain in Shadows of the Empire but he wasn't a boss either he supposedly perished when his skyhook exploded.

@TheCajunGambit1 Yeh I can certainly see that disappointing. Developers should definitely think of what the players want to play at times rather than just worrying about the storyline.

@MajBlood Even a boss fight with The Emperor would be fine but from what i remember at least in the N64 version of SOTE The Emperor made an appearance in a cutscene with Prince Xizor talking about the plans for the Death Star 2 I believe.

Yeah. The shitty graphics we thought were good was so awesome... Miss it too. Allthough I can pick up and play my N64 anytime now. It's in a storage room in my house lol.
