    - "ironchariots org right now has a database problem ;) maybe hacked by angry christians"

No, it's site maintenance. It should be back in a matter of hours.

  • One of my favorite leitmotifs in AE is "Uh ... uh ... well, ... I mean ..." That means the caller has completely run out of ideas. But does he give up. No, he just starts makin' shit up.

  • HAHA.. "I have a tree!" epic! fuckin love this show to DEATH! =D freakin religious people are so humerous. No offense intended. Learned lots of intelligent thought processes from matt and the other guys! :)

  • Matt-a fact.

  • "It's MORE viable! I HAVE A TREE."

  • ""Richard Dawkins Calls" The Atheist Experience " sent me here >.<

  • "I have a tree!" lol

  • That's what happens when you try to debate a 16 year old on theology.

  • LOVE THESE GUYS! .. I wish they were my neighbors

  • omg, talk about a weakest link. this mother fucker is more like the MISSING link he's so fuckin retarded. God junkies will grasp at ANYTHING that gives the most insignificant APPEARANCE of validity for their superstitious addiction. Death worshipping, ignorance loving, addicts the lot of them.

  • When explaining to a christian why his or her religion is implausible I cite two very ironic facts.

    1) If they are so privy to eternal divine truths then there should not be any disagreement on what they believe, yet there are anywhere between 20,00 to 35,000 christian denominations around the world.

    2) If these truths are indeed eternal then why has the church historically been so violent? Whether it was the Inquistion or the Crusades, christians have been just as violent as any other group

  • does god have creator? then you just beat you premise. you cant say "everythiung needs a couse" and then say" god is uncaused cause" then we allready have a loophole in your logic. if god needs not creator, then what else? we culd apply that logic to anything. universe is uncaused. thus it has no creator. that is just as reasonobale. more so bechose universe actualy exists. i gotta say, people lack imagination. i can imagine thousand things more powerfull then god.

  • This is fantastic - his justification for Xianity is

    1. The Bible is very old holy book,

    2. It's the only one that talks about a creator god who exists outside our reality, and

    3. Atheists can't explain the origins of existence.

    Oh, and

    4. Nothing can exist without a creator.

    5. Faith counts as evidence.

If god showed himself there would be no need for faith. What? This isn't a point; at best it's the first HALF of a point. Another one who thinks faith is good and necessary.

  • this was awesome thank you for reaffirming my faith in atheism lol

  • I'd like to see an episode where the hosts talk like pirates

  • Egyptian mythology is at least 5000 years old.

  • I know I will probably be blasted for any comments, I am a believer, however, I would just like to point out how that every person who says they are a believer and comments on this show is very ignorant and I am sad to say that this is the condition of most of believers.

  • what is the adress he is refering to ? wiki. ????? i can't hear what he says

  • @Auktoriserad I know your question was asked awhile ago. In case you never found out, and are still interested, Matt said to go to wiki (dot) ironcariots (dot) org. Good site.

  • At 4:36, is that the sound of his brain leaping from his ear to escape?

  • The truth does not require ones approval. Either something is true or it is not. In the case for god the evidence is nil. No evidence, no truth, no god.

  • haha is this the same guy that won "best caller ever"?

  • omg that was a total rape

  • this is very interesting and fun to watch.ΨΧΨΥΨΥ

  • btw, sorry for the grammatical errors... I just picked them up after I pressed "Post". Argh.... anyway, I think you can still figure out what I am trying to say.

  • ... fully resting their argument on the fact that the existence of time, space, and matter in of it themselves contradict the laws of science, THEREFORE the divine creator, who like I mentioned earlier surpasses the natural laws, must exist? What other explanations are there?

  • @richterscale09 3 problems. 1) First demonstrate that it was a 0 to begin with. 2) You evaded the question with an answer who poses the exact same question. Taking the unexplainability of the existence of the universe and putting it on an unknown X doesn't explain or accomplish anything. 3) Show me how you get from "there must be some god" to "we know who exactly that god is"

  • @wHisperis001 (1) well... if we want to be technical about it, even theories like the Big Bang argue that there is a beginning as evidenced by the way stars and other large bodies seem to expand, (2) I made a question and never got an answer, (3) if you get to "there must be a God," that's already a huge step. Christians will cite consistencies in the bible (prophesies and multiple accounts of the same events) as evidence for God's existence, but...

  • @richterscale09 1) the big bang theory states that at one point of time or the beginning of time if you like, everything was in a single spot, however it does not say that it came out of nothing. As far as we know the universe can be a never ending process of expanding and contracting. 2) What? 3) Yes christians cite bible like thousands of other religions cite their holy scripture. The bible isn't even original, I'd like to know why christians think they're right.

  • @wHisperis001 that also requires a leap of faith in the bible. There is also a field within Christianity called Apologetics that I myself am not too familiar with, but they devote their time finding logical answers for questions atheists and agnostics have for Judeo-Christian believers. as a side note, it'd be interesting to see The Atheist Experience bringing in someone with an actual academic background in theology or apologetics for a debate rather than unprepared folks.

  • @richterscale09 The Atheist Experience is fully open for anyone to call, they don't "bring" anyone. And there's a problem among christians that they never decide who could be their authority figure in theology and apologetics. And also there's plenty of debates with these "scholars" and matt has done some also, not on the show though. Ray Comfort once called in, but I doubt christians view him as an ideal debater.

  • ... in mathematics, zero times zero equals zero. You start with nothing, you end with nothing, rendering the formation of matter to be a clear impossible event w/out a starting pt. If the atheist refuses to turn to a divine creator, which by defn transcends the laws of physics and math (i.e. conservation of matter) on the premises that there are more reasonable, if not sound, explanation, then what could that be?? Is it so unreasonable for believers to rest their arguments of creationism...

  • The reporter cites the old "look at the trees! I can't explain their existence, therefore God must have created it" to be an ignorant fallacy. I see where they make their argument in a reasonable manner, YET at the same time I don't think they have the authority or the confidence to say it is false... and they are okay with it, to my understanding (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Now, I have a few questions to atheists, making a case for creationism...

  • matt came with his guns loaded this time lol

"what steps do we take to figure out that its true?"

"well we have to begin somewhere--"

"yea, lets begin by addressing the quesiton!"

    lol

  • This sounds like Mark.

  • Im not religious but this show is only good for one thing and thats to make u think. If this bald guy thinks there is a way to prove whether or not the bible is true or false then he is sadly mistaken. The only way to find out is to die.

  • @blade0381 how bout proof by contradiction. god is greater than man, morally, emotionally,...etc. gahndi did not resort to violence to solve his problems. read the ot.

    qed

  • @blade0381 "If this bald guy thinks there is a way to prove whether or not the bible is true or false then he is sadly mistaken. The only way to find out is to die."

Or we can test the claims the Bible makes.

    1) The earth is 10,000 - 6,000 years old and was created in 6 days - False

    2) The earth is older than the sun - False

    3) A flood covered the entire earth - False

    Etc, Etc.

    See how this works?

  • worst christian ever!! i culd take this guy on easy lol, good job matt even though i know u didnt even try. hhahahahaha. but the truth is.... its not the guy thats dumb, its the religion. if u try to defend a dumbass based on what the dumbass says, u will look like a dumbass. hahahahaha

  • Wow, that guy failed on every level of making a decent argument. Pathetic

  • So, the caller was what, 12 years old??? Jesus Christ in a fig tree, that dude was beyond dumb!

  • That was me on the phone i called that day to present evidence for God and Matthew would interrupt me halfway through my arguments.

  • @SquirrelGoneBananas

C'mon - be honest - you have CLAIMS and ASSERTIONS about some god figure.

  • @SquirrelGoneBananas Not that i believe for 2 seconds that's really you on the phone, but if it is, you got schooled, hard.......

  • I don't know if i'm just drunk but this is one of the best conversations I've heard in a while on this show...

  • Heh a flying spaghetti monster on the desk

  • fuck all gods live for yourself and enjoy life

  • 7:24 Matt had a mindfuck about how ignorant people can be.

  • im conviced that these so called 'christians' that call in are just actors or there buddys trying to make the true christians look ignorant. and if these callers are not actors then i appologize for the absolute ignorance that they have in defending there world view. what a shame. what a shame!

  • @peterlabrie1 prove it ? this is a cable access show and this is there 697 episode I doubt there rich enough to pay for 697 actors. I'm sure they Don't make any money at from this show.

  • @danielzilla60 uh prove what?? i made the simple claim that it is hard to believe that christians are this stupid. but then again there are many who wily nilly call themselves christians that know absolutley nothing about what real saving faith is. so i was just making an assertion. no need to prove anything im sure you will agree with me of the stupidity of these callers. this is not what the true christian world view has to offer. not at all.

  • @peterlabrie1 "but then again there are many who wily nilly call themselves christians that know absolutley nothing about what real saving faith is. you should watch this you will laugh good observation!

    /watch?v=NTIBKZH3kzg&feature=related

  • if you could combine the logical clarity of Matt's arguments with Hitchens' delivery and charisma, you would have an uber almighty god of wonder i would worship endlessly.

  • @ivanmikhailov That would be epic.

  • Epic pwned

  • If we were absolutely certain about the existence of a god, there would be no reason not to have faith in it. Faith is just another word for belief. It's not a reason to believe.

  • what i dont understand is that religious people do have a critical thinking mind...how can they just turn their eyes the other way on this exact same thing....all of a sudden they seem to want to avoid admiting that there is no reason to believe...and are so full of pride and dont want to admit being suckered into something this stupid, i really dont think anyone likes that feeling, especially if it something intimate like relationships and religion over long period of time, it breaks people

  • This video is pure gold.

  • @Yay248 I agree. Plenty of Matt's answers are good, but this one wonderfully summarizes one of the best points an atheist can make against an argument for god.

  • @johnjsal This one is probably my favorite moment of Matt pwning someone. Not that his others aren't brilliant as well.

  • @Yay248 Yes but this one is even greater, from the same show ;)

    /watch?v=VUPbgQtYpNY

  • @cristianfcao OMG that video is great. He really sounds like him! Thanks for sharing :)

  • "God does not exist, I can't prove that, but I have faith" - Pat Condell

  • @wHisperis001 Pat condell is just a bully, the only opinion of his I agree with is that there is no god, apart from that he just spreads hate.

  • @S1CKDRIFT3R I don't agree with everything he says but he has a lot of good points

  • The faithful are like computers programmed to respond to only a certain sequence of information. Faith and god and the bible says = abc. Logic and reason and lack of evidence = 123. Feed 123 into a computer programmed to only understand abc and you get: well..but..but..well..well..but..well.......CRASH!

  • @3:50

Caller: "Well you have to begin somewhere, I mean..."

Matt: "Yeah, I'd like to begin by addressing the question."

Definitely one of my favorite Matt Dillahunty quotes.

  • this guy, is like "but but but but"

  • "Everything exists, and Nothing can exist without a Creator!"

It amazes me that so many Christians can't see the fault in that statement!

If everything that exists needs to have a creator, and they are claiming that God EXISTS, then God must've had a creator as well!

  • Religon is just for people who want to be punished there is no after life earth is a planet we are human beings notice the callers multiple pauses.

  • @proceo12 But you writted "your", how can I be a slang speaking person then?

  • Jesus saves!

  • @zaksam1234 How much money has jesus saved ?

  • @zaksam1234

    And takes half damage! :D

  • Someone needs to read the Bhagavad Gita!

  • @2LegitTooQuit Lmao, so based on one comment by me you list me as ignorant? You base my quantity of knowledge on a single comment on a single video on youtube and you have the nerve to call ME ignorant? If you label someone ignorant under a basis of ignorance what does that mean for you? I was once a creationist evangelical so sorry bud, i am not ignorant. I likely know more about your own beliefs than you yourself do. I hate it when people are so foolish.

  • I knew the second he asked near the beginning do you care for the truth? and he said Yes, that that would be his downfall

  • jacob just doesn't get the scientific method or research or anything that has 2 do wit finding the truth. even watching the trutv 4 a while would enlighten him. mayb not as much now as a few years ago when there were more shows on evidence and police work, but still like stating I know that I hav a cup because its observable, because it makes an impact on its environment (temperature and obstructing air flow) these things are testable, observable and demonstrable. that's how we know something

  • the path to truth is love and oneness. i don't disagree with these ahtiest. i appreciate their honesty. i love how matt does such a good job at exposing bullshit.

  • @renzokata no the path 2 truth is the scienctific method. this is the path 2 real, tangible, observable, demonstratable knowledge.

  • @cruelbusiness1984 oh yeah?

  • Those questions are important to ask. Why so many people are denying questioning their beliefs?

If we just accept the fact that faith is gullibility, then religions would vanish forever.

  • Those questions are important to ask. Why so many people are denying questioning their beliefs?

  • Matt, you're diplomacy, logic, and reason are awesome! You have such a wonderful skill in challenging people to think without insulting them. You are a wonderful example for us all!!!!!!!

  • Nothing irritates me more than basically saying 'the bible is true...because it says so!!!" You're a dumbass....because I SAID SO!!! Better yet, I myself am your god! Since I am your god, I never lie. Now you have to believe me!.....um....nya nya nya nya nya!!!

  • the curb your enthusiasm shirt

  • pedophile rapists ftw! thumbs up!

  • I'm allergic to religion.

  • @decemberbenjamin BUT, religion is NOT allergic to you.

  • @decemberbenjamin

*Cough* *cough*. I'm especially allergic to Christianity, *cough* *cough*.

  • @decemberbenjamin so you're allergic to terrible lies, filth and bull shit? Well that makes a lot of us.

  • At first I used to feel sorry for the theists who call in and get their copy-pasted arguments smacked down systematically by these guys but these days I'm so used to it that I just make a bowl of popcorn and enjoy.

  • One thing I lke is that one of the first arguments by Matt, that this life being insignificant would be some sort of cosmic joke, is basically an argument from incredulity, just like the "we just evolved on a tiny rock in space" kinda thing.

He has the right to use it as an appeal to emotion in this case, because the evidence is on his side :)

  • Recently, I lost an item. Turns out it fell out of my car when I picked up a drunk friend. When I found it, my girlfriend's mom credited St. Anthony, who supposedly helps people find things.

Personally, I credited the fact that I retraced my steps and returned to the spot where it fell out. No "miracles" necessary.

  • @VesusSheist exactly. can't prove a negative but lack of evidence is evidence of not being there. scientific findings make god unnecessary in the forming of life, in the evolving of animals, and in how the universe works. Just because we don't know how something works, doesn't mean we can say a sky fairy did it..

  • @cruelbusiness1984 yup! it's like people in late 18 century don't believe people can fly, maybe we don't know where we're came from, but I believe we find the answer in Physics and Philosophy.

and I have question? if god exist? who created him? or where he came from? because in genesis, everything starts from completely darkness. where he came from?

  • @VesusSheist sounds like your GF's mom is a dumbass like mine. What a world...

  • @SlayingMinion She's not bad...just subscribes to some stupid superstitions. It's a stupid world

  • @VesusSheist Funny thing, my mom does the same thing. And I am always like "I can find something less time just by retracing my steps." She even has a prayer for it, it just makes me go " >_>...seriously? Your wasting precious time."

  • Wow! Matt was in top form for this one! Absolute bullseye points, articulated perfectly.

  • I gave up religion for lent.........thank you god !

  • @tranceman22 and thanks for child molesting priest ^_^ v that's gods masterplan

  • I believe faith plays a large part in our world religious or not, but I believe in God because of things He has done for me.

  • @snoopval how about believing in urself because of the the things u've done 4 urself? or the things people hav done 4 u? ur argument fails 2 say anything really

  • @cruelbusiness1984 I find it amusing theists believe a god answers their prayers when things go well & don't blame god when things go bad.

  • @tranquility4all That's True, because prayer is just a coincidence.

  • @rizardo2011 Prayer is a placebo.

  • @tranquility4all Prayer is a placebo

    Agreed

  • @malecat76 Not only is it a placebo but it can be dangerous. There are religious zealots who will refuse medical care & rely on prayer.

  • @snoopval hwow! sound like gods cares you a lot ^_^ but how about the other people died of stavation? babies who died in cancer? and how about children raped by child molesting priest? is this prove that god doesn't exist?

  • 9:14

This is a big weapon against a religious person in an argument. "You're an Atheist, too."

  • @BlckSbthMan Me? Yes! ^_^ How about you my friend?

  • @rizardo2011 I think about things, so of course I don't believe that an angry, jealous, univer-creating, sex-anxious super-man that dwells outside of space and time exists.

Or any variance of that claim.

  • @rizardo2011 u sound just as uneducated here as the theist Matt argues wit

  • @cruelbusiness1984 oh really? so for you, an educate person is praying like an Idiot and begging ask for salvation (Idiot because everytime you praying is just like talking to yourself), or to be like a priest who raping little boys or girls, or to be like muslims who marry a 9 year old girl ^_^ so dude, if I'm uneducated just because I just true to myself to express my feeling here, and I never follow your narrow and barbaric believes, ok ^_^ consider yourself as most educate saint person here.

  • I love Matt, don't get me wrong. I also completely understand why he gets frustrated. But my only complaint with him (and many other of my fellow atheists who are popular) is that he can come off as a jerk.

Let's be clear, that in no way makes him wrong (he is dead on). And I know he couldn't take the time to refute these claims in detail over and over, or the show would be nothing else. I just wish atheists could become popular who would address these claims with a pleasant tone.

  • @ug333 Although I agree with the fact that people should usually be composed, you do have to realize that many Atheist are passionate in the belief that most of the world is either willfully ignorant or supporting an evil fairy tale because they never stopped to question it. It's like you're surrounded by idiots and you're trying to reason with one of them. It's 'like' that, because that's now really how it is. But you understand.

It's hard to keep your cool when someone thinks like a child.

  • @BlckSbthMan likewise Christian people are absolutely convinced about what they believe and they think that they are surrounded by people who are lost and dying.

  • @snoopval Yeah, but that's not all that similar, because Atheism is a not a child-like belief.

  • @BlckSbthMan Well to Christians though it is not a child like belief it is life or death. To me I don't know how I feel about hell but I believe in God so much and He has helped me immensly, I wish everyone could experiance that.

  • @snoopval

    - "I believe in God so much and He has helped me immensly"

    Can you give examples?

  • @TheAtheistExperience Certainly and I thank you for asking me :) He healed my foot (I could barely walk after I worked a day) He helped me get my job, and get the exact amount of hours that I wanted. This may seem silly but I love my cat more than anything (she's like family to me) and He helped me find her when she was lost. I don't say this to a lot of people and I feel odd saying it now but I was very depressed earlier in my life and suicidal and He helped me thru that.

  • @snoopval

"He healed my foot ... He helped me get my job ... He helped me find [a cat] ... I was very depressed ... and He helped me thru that."

These are all examples of mundane things that also could have happened without any help from a supernatural god. Why do you credit 'God' for such things, instead of blaming 'Him' for hurting your foot., making you unemployed, misplacing your cat and making you depressed? And how do you know that it was God, when it just as well could have been Allah?

  • @TheAtheistExperience well that is a good question. One those things were not mundane to me personally. I could barely walk somedays and now I can. I guess I attribute them to Him because I asked Him for those things and He gave me very specific answers that only He could know. I tend to be a skeptical person, I tend to be a negative person, so when I hear a voice within me telling me things specifically that are positive I tend to think it's Him.

  • Comment removed

  • @snoopval THINKING that it's god talking to you doesn't mean that it IS god talking to you...don't jump to irrational conclusions

  • @chadwick0091 well and I am very careful with that because I think people can make themselves believe anything and one can to an extent just be hearing there own thoughts but I am talking about a consistent presence and pattern of things.

  • @snoopval the human mind is an extremely complex and mysterious thing

  • @snoopval this is all explainable by real things. ur foot healed because ur body heals itself thru chemical processes. u got ur job by being qualiffied, they happened 2 need ur services so they hired u. u mistake gods intervention for coicidences here. cats hav the natural tendancy 2 return 2 thier territory. ur cat loved u and returned. or if its cuz u searched the neighborhood and found her, u did the work, not god. u helped urself out of depression. he doesn't get credit for anything here

  • @cruelbusiness1984 it didn't return to it's territory, God told me exactly where it was and what was wrong. As far as my job goes, I suppose I am quallified but I got the exact amount of hours that I wanted and things unfolded exactly as He told me they would. One's body does heal itself indeed, but I was in chronic pain for several years and suddenly I'm not.

  • This kid is willfully ignorant.

  • I think he was a little too mean in this one.

  • BAM! In your face :D

  • Lol

Caller: " Well we do have some evidence that there's a god"

    Matt: "What?"

    Caller:" That everything exists and-"

    Matt: * almost facedesk*

  • @slickwick45 lmao

  • "everything exists therefore there god"

    1. which god.?

    2. where did god come from?

    3. from what did god something.?

  • Fantastic patience from Matt !

  • I love quoting great speakers ... but Matt has so many good quotes (in each video) that I'm simply overwhelmed. I'm a great debater over the internets, but I couldn't hold a candle to these lives retorts. Respect!

  • Matt pwns once again.

  • I love how Matt have these callers running in circles using their own logic against them!

  • I just love the argument that the caller presents from 6:25(ish) - "If we're absolutely certain that something is true (there would be no room for faith), (and if we don't have faith in something) then how can we trust it?". Fucking brilliant!

  • I love hitting religious people with the multiple gods question. You need to prove to me that all the millions of gods that have existed in the past are incorrect.

  • @zelos88 Didn't even know that.

  • This guy is a prime example of religious people who don't know enough.

    Pure brainwashed hehe

  • 5:57

    FAITH IS A GIVE-UP.

That is a valid piece of truth.

  • I want to start an Arab Atheist community.

  • Matt's patience is just... wow...

  • Can almost hear the guy 's mind falling apart at the other end of the line; I wonder how long this would have needed to go on before his head just asplode?

  • WOW ... that guy has serious problems.

  • Damn... this guy is fucked.

  • "One creator" claim is only ~ 2,600 years ago. . . . . and the Genesis story was lifted from ancient Babylonian polytheism.

  • "how do we go about seeing if this is true?" - The same way you go about seeing if someone is real, get to know them, form a relationship and reap the rewards :)

  • @PhillHeslop As I have done with Ikton my interdenominational guardian. Who needs visual, audible touch sensitive proof when one can feel the presence of a real friend.

  • I mean, you cant have a good Atheist/Christian debate where the 'theres not enough evidence' and 'Its all about Faith' arguments are used, as they both cancel each other out, and frankly make it boring :P

  • This video was ok until...

1.We all realised the guy calling in hadnt actually thought his arguments through

2.They used the old 'Soup Dragon/Flying Kettle' argument, which is overused and intrisicly flawed, as they deal with different things..., Non-Ethreal, Natural things with a Supernatural property, not something which is in its nature, supernatural and non-ethereal. There are much better arguments which argue why God doesnt exist that they could have used

  • @thewayoftheweasel

It doesn't matter whether or not something has supernatural properties or it's nature is supernatural. What the "garage dragon, etc" argument is about is how we reach a belief that something exists. We start out with the burden of proof on the claim that it exists, and then if there isn't evidence that it exists, we don't believe in it's existence. It's as simple as that.

  • Do they purposely get people who dont really know what they believe to call them up?

  • I'm a big fan oh the AE!

But here's another case where they don't need to be so hard on him.

This kid probably loves his church because everyone there is so supportive.

Now going outside this comfort zone he has to hear "You're grossly ignorant" and "You don't care"!

He was most likely brought up in a christian environment...not his own fault, I don't blame him for it! You can show him the path to truth but calling him an idiot won't make him wanna follow you. Help this kid, he seems alright.

  • @mercutio47 Good points - I completely agree with you. A.E. is a great show, but I don't see any value in crushing this kid with logic. He has had years of Christian indoctrination. All he really needs is a little research and some maturity.

  • @000SMITH000 well its not like they called the kid, how else would they go about it? these people need to be told NO once in a while, maybe that will lead to him thinking a little harder about his beliefs and doing some reasearch.

  • Man Im soooo glad I don't believe in this religious bullshit anymore.

  • I face palmed the same time Matt dropped his head in disappointment/ despair at 7:25. The patience these guys have with the infected is amazing.

  • Will call Matt again. Baha'i definition of "God" is that god is forever unknowable. First one has to have faith in god, then one may
