Adam gives me hope. Adam is FtM, I'm FtM too. This show is just so real and it gives me hope that someday my parents will see that I don't see myself as Veronica like they know me...I see myself as Nolan.

@1rubi111 Even if the mind's sex is the true birth defect, it is FAR easier to fix the body and treat IT as the birth defect by means of sex reassignment surgeries and hormone treatments. One should stay true to his/her/hir gender(s) and be as comfortable as they can with their body - if they suffer from gender dysphoria then changes to the body must be made in order for the person to become more cisgendered and literally then feel more comfortable in their own skin.
@Bekll I guess that makes sense, imo they should just deal with it, i mean, after all, the operations are just cosmetic so they will never be truly the other gender... but then again, I'm not trans so i don't know if these people really need to go through surgery and stuff.. the only thing that i mind and is pretty frustrating, is to meet someone that I think is a man but then i find out was born as woman.. as long as they are true to themselves and to ppl around them everything is cool.
@1rubi111 The operations and hormones are in order to become/feel as cisgendered as possible and to pass as the gender they want to present themselves as to the world and societies. It's as close to becoming the opposite sex as possible in today's time. The surgeries and hormones *are* how they deal with it... it's better than committing suicide. According to a trans support site "Over 50% of [transsexuals] have had one suicide attempt by age 20".

He was doubting that he should go through with it, because alot of his friends and his parents were saying it would be difficult for him to live as a guy and put being a girl in the past, what with the bullying and all, but some of his friends [like Eli & especially Clare] helped him decide he should be who HE wants to be, no matter what anyone says. He is my absolute fave. :^)

It's a nice sentiment and all, but a foolish song choice. The point of being transsexual is that you do not want to be. You *are*, but you are in the wrong body. Why else would we go through hell to be what and who we are? If it were as simple as wanting, do you think any of us would choose to put up with what we put up with on a regular basis?
My friend is a transgender. He hates being a biological girl so, he "became" a man. Now, his name is Owen. But he was born named Olivia. I love him so freaking much. He means the world to me. So, at a school pep rally, I played piano and sung this song and he cried. He cried not in sadness but, in joy and hope. Some booed my performance but those people were ignored. Their lives are difficult so, help a transgender even just a little. Great video. I love it!!

@shadetheninja666 You don't have to feel that way. Look for help asap. You don't have to walk around with this all alone. You can look for help as soon as you're questioning your gender, you don't have to be sure about anything. They'll help you figure it out and can help you on your way to a better future.

I remember when AMC did a Storyline about a Transgender Person who went to a Support Group and met some real life Transgender Folks.
The introduction of eli and adam were really the high points of "boiling point." The two-parter "my body is a a cage" was easily some of the best work degrassi has ever done. adam and eli have become my two favorite current (who still have a role on the show) characters and claire isn't that far behind. i'm hoping that adam gets a nice girlfriend at some point in this season. great job putting this together.

He was doubting that he should go through with it, because alot of his friends and his parents were saying it would be difficult for him to live as a guy and put being a girl in the past, what with the bullying and all, but some of his friends [like Eli & especially Clare] helped him decide he should be who HE wants to be, no matter what anyone says. He is my absolute fave. :^)

@DoubtJim Exactly. I'm a genderqueer who prefers male pronouns but I have a friend who insists I'm a girl to go by female pronouns because I haven't gone through surgery. I don't care to and I tell her that not all transsexuals themselves go though HRT or SRS either, yet they still are the gender they identify as. She doesn't get it and it kills me.

And this isn't me putting down trans, because to be honest I've been pondering the idea of becoming one myself [trans gen lesbian though, I'm not attracted to guys, I just enjoy embracing femininity. It's a nice sentiment and all, but a foolish song choice. The point of being transsexual is that you do not want to be. You *are*, but you are in the wrong body. Why else would we go through hell to be what and who we are? If it were as simple as wanting, do you think any of us would choose to put up with what we put up with on a regular basis?

My friend is a transgender. He hates being a biological girl so, he "became" a man. Now, his name is Owen. But he was born named Olivia. I love him so freaking much. He means the world to me. So, at a school pep rally, I played piano and sung this song and he cried. He cried not in sadness but, in joy and hope. Some booed my performance but those people were ignored. Their lives are difficult so, help a transgender even just a little. Great video. I love it!!

@shadetheninja666 You don't have to feel that way. Look for help asap. You don't have to walk around with this all alone. You can look for help as soon as you're questioning your gender, you don't have to be sure about anything. They'll help you figure it out and can help you on your way to a better future.
Don't battle this fight alone, seek help and talk about it. Take things step by step and before you know it you'll be miles away.

Even íf you do think he's a she, as soon as you find out, you should use male pronouns.
Nevertheless it still pisses me off when someone calls me a girl. I can understand the mistake, but it's just as annoying for us as for ''bio-guys''. Maybe it's even worse because it reminds us of our bodies.

@JDMiller95 I find the video is rephrasing the lyrics to mean "If I were born anatomically male to match my male gender" -- that sort of thing. So that the whole binding issue, feeling of gender dysphoria, etc. wouldn't have to occur and make life harder.

Its just like when you watch alternate world videos like, "What if Emma died?" or "What is Ali dated Eli?" or something like that.

@laminage Canada is still pretty bad when it comes to LGBT bullying, not as bad to make them commit suicide, but still not right. I'm gay, and I've only got teased once in a blue moon. The only thing about it is that guys are afraid to be my friend, which sucks. But oh well, I'd rather be friends with girls than to be harassed every single day like most LGBT.

The introduction of eli and adam were really the high points of "boiling point." The two-parter "my body is a a cage" was easily some of the best work degrassi has ever done. adam and eli have become my two favorite current (who still have a role on the show) characters and claire isn't that far behind. i'm hoping that adam gets a nice girlfriend at some point in this season. great job putting this together.
