He is not playing a shakuhachi. Just a side blown flute with a pentatonic scale. This is NOT the shakuhachi flute played in Japan by zen priests. The shakuhachi is a vertically played bamboo flute, with a totally different mouthpiece and playing techniques. And the bore is tapered by experts that spend around 10 years as apprentices to learn the craft. Different sound to0. Enough misinformation?

How did you learn to play? I just bought a side blown shakuhachi myself but have no background flute experience.

Hey there, Not bad at all:] Sounds like you captured a moment of peace. If you like the side blown Shakuhachi. You will LOVE ERIKS SIDE BLOWN EGYPTIAN. I feel like I'm in Jerusalem or Egypt every time I play it.
