Great Vid! Not too many places I can think of where you get to go this fast on the Sydney Metro network. Can you remember why the camera is bobbing and weaving around so much? Looks like it's hanging on a bungee or something. Made me feel like I'd been on the grog.
@sleat Thanks mate. Very keen observation! On the Illawarra, suburban trains can get upto 115 only in this stretch, assisted by the steep downhill grade and the distance between stations. In the west (west of Blacktown and east upto Parramatta), some suburban trains and most intercity trains get upto 115.
@sleat Re. the wobbly effect: I was taking the video by holding the camera in hand, squatting on my knees, on the guard's seat of a T set (note, this seat faces backward). Also, it says a few things about the track condition and ride qualities of a T / G set!!
@whysohardto Hi. Thanks for watching and appreciating these mindless boring videos. What you mentioned is probably the most difficult part of a train driver's job........... to keep the brain from becoming numb!! With experience, one learns how to make the eyes wander off from the glaring pair of steel rails......... just for long enough to keep the brain from shutting down. Have you noticed train drivers walking along like zombies??? That's how so many of us end up.......
@TrainManFromOZ "Have you noticed train drivers walking along like zombies??? That's how so many of us end up"....Erm, I have noticed even more of them walking along like zombies PRIOR to employment!! LOL
