Sorry to every naysayer on here, but I think this video is marvelous. It pretty well captures the intensity and mood that is a Tool concert experience. First, the very fact of the distance of the camera from the stage allows the viewer to take in the entirety of the stage set-up. Second, the slight shaking adds to the realism of the video without utterly ruining the experience. Plus, the sound quality, compared to many other live concert videos, is above par.
I can guarantee MJK isn't on acid at any of his shows. Maybe early Maynard but there is no way in hell, he says himself that besides drinking wine he is completely strait edge
Unlike most of you guys I was actually at this show, and I thought it was really boring. My friend liked it, but of course most tool fans have this feeling of "higher being" at Tool concerts, as Maynard is so fucking wasted on acid that he doesn't even realize he's playing a concert and basically just whines random sentences that fans somehow consider deep. Fans like him also like to think that the lyrics have a deep spiritual meaning only they can comprehend, which is hilariously pathetic.
LOL! yeah, anyone who doesn't see the spiritual depth of lines like "swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human" has obviously never lived....that is pathetic...brother, I hope lifes wonder makes itself clear to you before you pass! You needn't criticise your brother when yuou see lifes wonder! =)
lets make somthing clear.1 why do you look at tool videos when you dont like em? 2 yes people who listen to tool feel almost as they are about to cry when they listen to tool they feel the rythem and they get connected to tool unlike any other band thats bicaus they are special and uniqe if you cant feel them its alright but dont give them critics.
The fact that Tool were in Melbourne and they played my favourite song and that I didn't know about it until now fills me with the most indescribable rage and sadness. I'm going to go cry now.
5:01... brings tears to my eyes. I just can't describe the feelings and visions invoked at when Maynard cries "... and FOLLOWING our will and wind...".
Was suppose to fly to Vegas today to see them on 14th..the last concert of the tour. But I screwed up with visa and I am here watching them on youtube. I am soooo crying...
Its funny when I see concert footage of TOOL you can always hear what people are saying around the camera but when I was at their concert I couldn't hear anything during it or for 2 days after it. I think the Melt Banana guitar player destroyed my ears. Ass hole.
I was absolute front row in the dead centre. Waited 4 and a half hours. So worth it. So many 'new age tool fans' were lost when they opened with swamp song, i swear it was me and one other person singing!! Their side show was epic. Rossetta stoned- amazing! How funny was the vocal cue in Swamp song when maynard put danny off- danny was laughing. It was surreal seeing him in person. Did anyone notice the rest of the band laugh at adam when he played the jambi intro wrong?!
Thank you so much for uploading this! I've been looking for decent footage of this gig for ages! I was closer than ALL of you ;) Well perhaps not, I was right in the middle, right in the front on the barrier. I got there at 11am to queue XD
Surprised how well the sound came out :). I still want to get a proper copy of your footage though. Youtube's comprossed pooeyness doesn't cut it for a tool gig. Hopefully I'll have an audio bootleg of the whole show within the next couple of days.
To all the people who were screaming during 1:40 - 3:00 - WHY DON'T YOU GO KILL YOURSELF

The video and audio was too powerful for the camera and rendered it ineffective.

What's the guitar effect that Adam starts using at 4:22?
torrealba84 4 years ago
its just a -wah- but its justin not adam
beckel1313 4 years ago
Thanks
torrealba84 4 years ago
isn't it a whammy? he uses it to bend the pitch downward after those notes.
BrainHii 4 years ago
fairly certain it's a pitch shifter, not a whammy or wah
Nubzrule 4 years ago
Wouldn't think it was a Wammy, Don't he use Les Pauls?

Don't feel special. When he came to Birmingham, Alabama he said "Ala-fuck yeah-bama" before he started.
Then before Pushit he said "too bad it's not raining this time, huh?" because last time he was here it was like a badass tornado and stuff.
