I have watched every single Sabres game for the last 2 seasons. Gaustad is a fair player, and there are not too many guys in the league that are taller than him (Gaustad is 6'5" 212lbs), so please, don't CAPITALIZE the word 'much' before doing your research. As for me, I do take into consideration all possibilities before making a decision, for example, the sabres will score an iffy goal or take a penalty, but I won't huff and puff about it until I see a replay. I suggest doing the same.

It's completely irrelevent because Thorton did his job, which is to stop opposing players from running his teammates, and Gaustad drop the gloves and got owned.

I agree, Bitz was engaged with Tallinder coming around the corner boards, but he looked up and saw Gaustad coming for at least a full second (watch the replay portion of this clip). Also, Buffalo has come back to tie games from 3 goals down with less time left, so going after the player with the puck is smart, in order to gain possession. The thing is Bitz was wrong to jump Gaustad, just admit it, he should have waited for him to get up...

If you are saying that Thornton "jumped" Gaustad, then where is Buffalo's reply? If any player jumps a Bruin, Thorntn, Lucic, or Chara responds. Nobody responded here because nobody got jumped. Gausted was held accountable for his own actions.

Look at Thornton's history. One of the most respected fighters in the game with ZERO suspensions.

The point is, you gotta work hard to get the puck, legally of course, because the game is never over. For example, the Sabres were down 4-1 against the Lightning on March 19th of 2008, they worked hard and made plays to get the puck. They ended up scoring 6 goals in the third period to win 7-4. And as far as McCormick goes, I don't know why you even brought him up... weird.

Regarding coming back from 3 down, what does that have to do with cheapshots? 1st off, coming back from 3 goals down with 7 minutes left is about a 1 in 100 shot. Secondly, that's when most cheap shots are taken-when a game is out of reach.

Thirdly, I brought up McCormick because he's the guy that will get beat up when you play Boston!

Look at Thorton's right glove, it comes off first, at the same exact moment Thorton is dropping his gloves Gaustad is still down. The only reason why Gaustad stumbled was because Thorton was grabbing him and shoving him against the glass.

Players need to make hits in order to gain possession of the puck. with 6 minutes left in the game, it is still possible for a team to make a come-back, otherwise they should just call the game if a team is losing by 3 goals with 6 minutes left in the 3rd period. The point is that the hit was clean and face-to-face, Bitz saw the hit coming, Thorton came over to 'clear' things up with Gaustad....
