  • My favourite of the 32 sonatas by Beethoven!

  • This is very good, but I wish he wouldn't have sped the beat up every time the 32nd passages come because it ruins the serenity.

  • @Gheorgyi Well said and I would go even further by saying that if this idiot was told this very performance was by a young, unknown male he'd probably say it was shit. Believe me, classical music fans and critics are as fickle as teenage girls. Glad to see this pseudo-intellectual's account has been closed or did he just bore it to death ....?

  • @ferocel Add to that list teachers and adjudicators who (supposedly) want creative, imaginative, individual pianists (they'll name Richter, Gould, Lang Lang, et. al.), but God help you if you actually play outside the box they use to evaluate people. Then they become pedants of the worst order. Talk about two-faced.

Generally the only useful critics have been peers, although it still takes special individuals who can rise above politics, jealousy, and egoism in their evaluations.

  • @MaestroTJS No-one can escape (musical) politics or jealousy in this day and age. Gone are the days when you could help your peers. I did that years ago and received no acknowledgement so I stopped. How sad? REAL musicians develop their craft in private (I've spoken with Andrei Gavrilov on this subject so any youtube wankers out there, be very careful how you display your ignorance) and would rather stick pins in their eyes than lower themselves to the level of talentless imbeciles, ie critics.

  • 我好喜歡並且介紹給朋友聽聽

  • 太完美ㄌ.^^

  • what a waste on this out of tune piano.......

  • I remain speechless after listening to Rosario Ruggiero, too.

  • Speechless. This is so wonderful.

  • great tempo, great rubato, just perfect

  • One had better not say a word, after hearing this performance. I always remain speechless after listening to Richter.

  • I may not know a lot about music but enough to tell that the piano is out of tune, and not a little bit either....

  • @bonsema1 Urgh, I couldn't agree with you more - particulary the high notes

  • Wow! Where can I find this recording? Label?

  • by varying the tempo and dynamic to hold the structure....so jealous of him

  • lol

  • "whimsically avian rhetorical luminescence"

    Ahem.

  • This performance is a stunning demonstration of how to render this music as a whimsically avian rhetorical luminescence. His choice of this piano for this piece and his way of handling it is stunningly evocative. His phrasing is a demonstration of how to give pre-composed affect in a thoroughly spontaneous way yet retain strong unified cohesion in the structural effects.I love it!

  • haha "whimsically avian rhetorical luminescence"

    i love that =P

  • i think the word "high" would suffice :)

  • @ClassicalMusicReview

    well said!

  • @ClassicalMusicReview "...whimsically avian rhetorical luminescence". It is to be wondered how long it took this critic to fish out these words. Critics are known for their exasperated, absurd terminology. The blame is to be laid on those who commission them the critical reviews, and PAY them for the PAP they write. Let them STARVE. This one is a good candidate for the Mottled Oyster Award. Cripes, what a magniloquent CREEP.

  • @Gheorgyi They're supposed to be the intermediary between the enlightened artists and the ignorant people who just wouldn't understand without their help.

Unfortunately, their power to advance or destroy careers usually goes far beyond any ability they have to recognize talent or lack thereof. How many in retrospect have been proved to look like complete idiots?

  • Sublime

  • Beautifully interpreted. Thank you.

  • At least 22 recorded Beethoven's sonatas.
