  • what song is he playing when he's on the clean setting? is it just a random riff?

  • What is this I don't even...

  • @DrShredder97 LOL! :)

Looked back 'cause I had NO idea what you were talking about... I'm surprised anyone even bothered to read what TF I wrote, let alone watched the whole damn video to see if I was right or not. Haha!!

  • The general pickup sucks, the demo was forced too.

Paul is never usually that bad.

  • emgs are better

  • Shut the fuck up and play already...oh wait YOU FUCKING SUCK!!

  • I was going to buy one of these but this demo put me off. A bit too muffled for my liking! No offense meant

  • here's my opinion: everyone should stop buying Dean's recent guitars and switch over to DBZ. Dean Zelinsky left Dean guitars and started DBZ, and their guitars are handcrafted, much like PRS

  • Could this guy be less metal?

  • He used the Bill Lawrence L-500,and L-500XL for the bridge pickup and a stock dean pickup as the neck pickup

  • I can't believe he reviewed a high output pickup and he only played one chord while on high gain settings.

  • are the dean z series as big (like same size) as the explorer?

  • did any one else see that thats an explorer with a different headstock!

  • @garrettlee9512

Dude, a lot of companies make explorer-type guitars. The Esp FX/EX, The Dean Z (The one in the video), the Ibanez Destroyer, even the Jackson Kelly resembles the explorer. All of them share similarities yes, but it's not an explorer.

  • @andrewj552 yes but i think that if gibson had the design first then they should keep it that way ...and if you can figure out a difference oher then the head stock or hardware the ill give you a high five (I would offer money but im broke..haha)

  • @garrettlee9512

Look it up on Google images, the angles on the body are different, and so is the curve on the back of the guitar. The bit underneath the neck is more rounded as well. It's like the Fender Stratocastor body, every guitar manufacturer sells a guitar with a similar design, chances are they do a Les Paul shape as well. It's just a common design which most manufacturers have modified. The only way you don't end up with clones is to be like BC Rich, and have fugly shapes

  • @andrewj552 alright i call truce :)..whats the city that you live in so is im ever there, ill try to find you for the high five i owe you.

  • I think it's funny how he doing a video all about the Dime pickup Dean designed for dime's guitar, but he's playing on a Z Series... Does this make sense to you guysXD

  • Anyone have any idea what that pickup sounds like coil-tapped?

  • what a world review!

  • 1:38 TO SKIP THE TALKING SHIZZLE 3:48 TO END THIS VIDEO

  • 2:17..sounds like master of puppets 2,

  • is it me or is the dime time pickup almost as trebley as the bridge one?

  • DimeTime pickups sound so awful close to DMT Time Capsule pickups to me which was mainly used in '70s Deans. Actually that indeed could be the case, seeing that Darrell got his first Dean in '70s through a contest and maybe he just modded the bridge with a Bill Lawrence XL500..

  • terrible. and paul is the man dont get me wrong but he needs to work on his pick hand downstrokes. his metal riffing is puney or however you spell it.

  • sounds like fucking dumpster garbage

  • whats the m0del of that guitar? ive eanted an explorer for awhile now :O

  • Actually, Opposed To The Norm, Dimebag Used The Bridge Pickup For Rhythm, And The Neck Pickup For Soloing. (Usually, Guitarists Do The Opposite.)

I Personally Would've Used A Seymour Duncan Dimebucker For The Bridge.

  • @MrNeosantana he did that thats what i do omg

  • @45thundertrain It Gives The Riffs A Bit More Crunch, And The Solos A Little More Gain.

Best Used On: Pantera's "Fucking Hostile"

  • @MrNeosantana ya i like the crunch on the bottom pickup it makes the riff sound more real

  • @45thundertrain Then You'd Love Alexi Laiho.

  • This guy has tiny hands!

  • I joke when I say this, but I would like to find a review of Paul where he "not recommends" something. :)

  • sounds like shit

  • Talk about the pickup! Not about the guys playing! Fuck you people annoy me.

  • Comment removed

  • Damn. I have been looking for a Z with a floyd forever.. where did he find one?

  • @DLHSK8 From Dean Guitars Personally, Duh!

  • Overall, another good review from buddy. Actually, you know what amazes me? I've never heard this guy say "uuh" or "umm" ONCE. Not ever. Even to pause to think. Maybe it's perfectly edited (it's not) or maybe the guy needs 40,000 takes... MAYBE he's some sort of robot but think about that, folks. NEVER AN "Umm". Prove me wrong. IDGAF.

Wish they would have mentioned what sort of amp he was using tho.

  • @db0n3 1:01 he says "Uhh". FACE!!

  • Also, I've seen him riff it out and he can do metal, I guess today he tried for something weird and it sounded weird.

  • Anyone who knows anything about Dimebag would know he used the original Bill Lawrence L-500 hot wired bridge pickup to get his sound. He used them even before Cowboys From Hell was released and when Bill Lawrence went out of business he developed the Seymore Duncan Dimebucker which is a replica of the L-500.

I don't get why Dean would just throw his name on any old pickup, this doesn't even sound anything remotely close to Dimebag's sound.

  • @skeetv123 well, i have personally played the Dimetime Neck pickup with a SD Dimebucker, and, either of them alone, sound NOTHING like Dime, even through a Randall RG100es. BUT, if you use Both pickups, and mess around with the individual Volume Knobs, then u get the coveted dime tone

  • too much distortion on the medium gain sound

  • they promote alot dime just to sell shitty guitars, better buy a shecter or ibanez period.

  • @stamrockhard why r u watching the vid on the dean channel , u fucking mug if u dont like them , dont watch them? simples

  • they promote alot dime just to sell shitty guitars,f.u.c.k .dean!

  • they promote alot dime just to sell shitty guitars, fuck dean!

  • guitar...guitar...guitars....guitars....guitar...guitar fuck how many time does he say that word?

  • @3dDuke in each video 25+ times

  • @Wojteo92 I gathered...

  • You are all a very angry group of people. Do you know that. SHUT THE HELL UP AND PLAY GUITAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that pickup sounds like shit. just get emgs or duncans ffs. or dimarzios. just not "dean" pcikups.

  • @bulletdeposit dime bucker sounds way better

  • also............why the flying fuck is he playing a dean Z with these pickups.... im sure their are better dean guitars suited for this pickup....lol

  • Dime Time = symore duncan 59' classic

Dime Bucker = bill lawrence L500-XL

    stupid dean nockoffs....

  • @CemetaryGatesML

i own both the bill lawrence l500xl n the dimebucker n they sound nothing alike, they dime bucker is thicker sounding n maybe not as twangy sounding.

  • @CemetaryGatesML Dimebucker is seymour ducan...

  • @rockadio1992 i dont care, its still a nock off. i said the

    dimebucker = bill lawrence 500xl

do you know why? dime NEVER used a dimebucker

  • that dont sound like anythin like wat dime played it sounded awfull u wont be able to get that sound man so they should give up.

  • @Thehappyman901 douche bag darrel sounded like shit.

  • @fairfieldkid6 dude you seriouse?? are youy a fan of metal??

  • @Thehappyman901 no. haha

  • @fairfieldkid6 well then your point here is invalid. No affence.

  • @fairfieldkid6 are you dumb? go listen some justin bieber U clown.

  • @CemetaryGatesML ok, lets get this straight.. i'd rather listen to pantera then that justin fag.

  • sorry not impressed

  • what a fag...dimebag had a custom neck pickup...

  • GAY

  • @Maroko881

do you have problems with gays?

  • I still prefer the SH-59 that Dime used.

  • i fuckin hate this guys reviews and he moves his head WAY too dramatically and WAY too much

  • he needs to learn how to use power chords at least

  • R.I.P. DIMEBAG

  • cool

  • Why does everybody say he only used Bill Lawrence!!???!!!!??? He also used the Dimebuckers in his guitars in 2003-2004 when he was endorsing them. Up until then he only used Bill Lawrence 500XL. You will forever be missed and loved by all!! RIP DIME

  • @TheKallumS dime didn't only use the bill lawrence 500xl he only used it in the bridge

  • If you want Dime's original tone, he used a Bill Lawrence 500xl and a dimarzio super distortion in the neck. Either way, tone is more in the fingers of the player, not withstanding your equipment.

  • Remember guys, Dimebag didn't care so much about a "pretty" tone. He just wanted something that would kick your fucking ass. And these pickups have the balls to do so... I'm not so sure about when they're in pauls hands, but in Dimes... Definitely.

  • Dude DIME Inspired Pickups... DO MORE DIME SQUEALS!

  • @MetallicA4658 neck pickup, tool

  • Comment removed

  • dimes are overrated

  • those pickups sound like shit..........the best stock pickups come from jackson and ibanez

  • not liking these pickups

  • i wish they had a review of the custom zones.

  • dime didnt play the dime time pickup. he played the dimebucker

  • But he also only played the dimebucker very shortly before being shot, so imo if you want a dime tone thats pantera like go with what he used years before his custom guitar/pcik-up/amp. The Razorback also was designed months before his death.

  • no he played a bill lawerence XL500L...the dimebucker is Seymour Duncans money maker

  • it really makes me sad to see how they rape the fuck out of dimebags legacy.

  • Does this guy ever say a piece of gear is bad?!

  • which is better alnico or ceramic??

  • @IBZ93GRG250P ...that depends on what you're going for. alnico is generally weaker than ceramic, but warmer and rounder sounding. seymour duncan JB is alnico. slash uses alnico 2 pros. ...to contrast the dimebucker and duncan distortion are both ceramic pickups. to me if you want a well rounded pickup get alnico, good warmth and sustaine, and still plenty of power. most people dont really need a hot pickup these days because of high gain amps.

  • Dime used a SD-59 in the neck and a Bill Lawrence XL-500L's in the bridge on all his guitars.

I don;t know why they try to pass off these other pickups as being, "what Dime used."

  • @irrationalnigger Because they are raping his legacy. Its like the new Marshall Randy Rhoads amp, it sounds like absolute toss...... but Randy has one of the greatest guitar tones ever ! I hate all this endorsement shit its out of control.

  • Very true, the 'original' pickups were made by who are now Bill & Becky but the Bill Lawrence USA ones seem to sound closer than the Bill & Becky's.

  • helll nooo..i like the real bill and becky better...

  • Personal preference my man ;)

  • @MrORLY the original "bridge" pickup was indeed a Bill Lawrence L500xl ....which he used in his deans. in his washburns he used Seymour Duncan dimebuckers. and in both he used duncan "59" in the neck. i dunno why they put such a hot picup in the neck when dime didnt use one

  • @kempobrad Dime solo'd quite a bit on the neck pickup

  • your point? ..my point was....i don't know why they (the guys with dean) put such a hot pickup in the neck when dime actually used a weak "vintage" power humbucker in the neck of his guitars.

  • You said that he didn't use one

  • i said he didn't use a hot pickup in the neck position of his guitars. not that he didn't use his neck pickup.

  • Simple misunderstanding of your wording

  • well no its ment to have the same sound as dimes guitars

  • @lilfili123 Dime used a seymour duncan 59 in the neck position. which is NOT at all a hot pickup.

  • @kempobrad you mum is a hot pickup

  • my mom's dead you sick fuck. have a nice day punk

  • ok then your mum is a dead pickup looooool she has no more tone

  • you're still a punk.

  • im not a punk im a metal head

  • a poor excuse for one maybe

  • kempobrad what that makes you a fag? you cant even play guitar i bet haha.

  • what the hell are you talking about?

  • lol

  • It is true because the DimeTime pickup wasn't even made yet. I don't even think Dean had there own pickup line did they?

  • Hmm... Sexy guitar... Hmm...

  • i love dime and he is me hero but if u dont play just dimes guitar style of playing is is a sht pickup

  • Yo I'm debating what to get. The dean dimetime or the SH-13 Dimebucker. What you guys think?

  • The Dimetime is meant for a neck position, and the Dimebucker is meant for a bridge position. So... you could get both!

  • cool thanks man. good mix!!!

  • Don't get the Dimebucker, get a Bill Lawrence like Dime did for most of his career. The Dimebucker is rather muddy too.

  • omg this guys cant play metal. he can solo but when he tryied to play heavy chords they sounded like shit. no offense.

  • if you lisen he was actualy playing with medium gain... metal isnt medium gain...

  • @a7xfanpunk Dude talks way to much. Most vids with him is 15 mins of talking and 2 mins of playing.

  • @a7xfanpunk Oh well, at least he isn't as shit as that Synyster Gates cunt.

  • @a7xfanpunk this video wasnt the best. check some of his other videos, he actually plays some badass riffs.

  • @a7xfanpunk no man its the guitar, trust

  • Comment removed

  • that guy moves his head too much

  • i was thinking the same damn thing

  • 3:00 3:01 did anyone see that fifth chord?

  • yeah what about it?

  • Cool shape but it needs a different headstock.

  • This is a review about the pickups tard -.-

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you Captain Obvious, I like the pickups... but i'm not a fan of the headstock >.>

  • the second song he played sounded a lot like the intro to Look what the Cat Dragged in

  • Hey everybody if u would, please check out my video that would be awesome I would greatly appreciate it Its not long its just a sample its about 1 minute, Im just looking for feedback either good or bad. There r some noticeable mistakes, but if people like it I will put up a full quality version ... if u dont watch it or like it then its cool. but if u do then, please show it to people show it 2 people

    thanks 4 your time

  • DAMN I WANT THAT Z!

  • were did he get a z with a floyd???

  • probably a usa model you get the option of a floyd rose

  • i don't really like the shape of Dean Z

i think they have way cooler shapes than that

  • the gibson x-plorer looks better than the one he's playing :)

  • lokks like same body to me

  • ya man, agreed. the body is way too big and the awesome dean headstock doesnt really go with the body very well.

  • yeh the ml and razorback own the z

and the esp ex owns the dean z

  • i agree with ya 110%, i preffer V shaped guitars, the razorback has got to be the ultimate metal guitar around, the ESP Ex LOOKS cool, but trust me its not that comfortable to play with, im selling mine to get a Dean RB V, Carvin Custom Ultra V, or a Jackson V.

  • id say the carvin cause for the price you cant go wrong with a custom built

  • AGREED! Carvin custom it is then, thank you for making my decision final!

  • no problem Always happy to help

cause for a custom built guitar(to your specs) for 1000$ its like your stealing it

  • i completely agree, cause i was plannin on a ESP custom, but me spending 5 grand, ya not gonna happen, and 1000$ for a custom is pretty much a steal lol

  • Somehow this is pointless as demo of the pickup. Without knowing anything about the amp or the guitar or... it's very hard to tell what role the pickup plays.

  • i don't know what amp he's using but thats probly the problem cuz these are the pickups i have and the delicious

  • that sounded so shitty except for on high gain

  • Yea but i really loved the high gain sound.

  • Its based off of the Bill Lawrence XL500 i believe, could of got something wrong with the name...but yeah...

  • No.

  • YES

  • No. It was design to give you the tone oh his NECK pick up. That's why it's on the neck position. It was NOT based of of the l500xl. Please just accept that you're wrong.

  • the bill lawrence WAS his neck pickup, he had a seymour duncan in the bridge.

  • No you moron. Look it up or ask a real another REAL Pantera fan. Where are you getting this bullshit?

  • in his early days he had two bill lawrences, but the "current" setup and his most famous is Bill lawrence L-500's (bridge) and seymour duncan '59 (neck) so i was wrong a bit ;)

  • It's alright. But the dimetime was not based on the l500xl.

  • yeah, its basically based off of Super D, which was the last neck pup in the DFH....i remember reading somewhere that it was based off one of of the BL's, probably just the '59...Dime used like 3 different neck pups so it might incorporate all three.

  • accually in 93 he already had a SD 59 in the neck so its not that current.

and it wastnt till damage plan days that he used SD in the bridge

  • sorry mate...ur a bit mixed up...the bill lawrence xl500 was on the bridge...

  • its actually called L-500-XL no XL500
