Looked back 'cause I had NO idea what you were talking about... I'm surprised anyone even bothered to read what TF I wrote, let alone watched the whole damn video to see if I was right or not. Haha!!
here's my opinion: everyone should stop buying Dean's recent guitars and switch over to DBZ. Dean Zelinsky left Dean guitars and started DBZ, and their guitars are handcrafted, much like PRS
Dude, a lot of companies make explorer-type guitars. The Esp FX/EX, The Dean Z (The one in the video), the Ibanez Destroyer, even the Jackson Kelly resembles the explorer. All of them share similarities yes, but it's not an explorer.
@andrewj552 yes but i think that if gibson had the design first then they should keep it that way ...and if you can figure out a difference oher then the head stock or hardware the ill give you a high five (I would offer money but im broke..haha)
Look it up on Google images, the angles on the body are different, and so is the curve on the back of the guitar. The bit underneath the neck is more rounded as well. It's like the Fender Stratocastor body, every guitar manufacturer sells a guitar with a similar design, chances are they do a Les Paul shape as well. It's just a common design which most manufacturers have modified. The only way you don't end up with clones is to be like BC Rich, and have fugly shapes
I think it's funny how he doing a video all about the Dime pickup Dean designed for dime's guitar, but he's playing on a Z Series... Does this make sense to you guysXD
DimeTime pickups sound so awful close to DMT Time Capsule pickups to me which was mainly used in '70s Deans. Actually that indeed could be the case, seeing that Darrell got his first Dean in '70s through a contest and maybe he just modded the bridge with a Bill Lawrence XL500..
terrible. and paul is the man dont get me wrong but he needs to work on his pick hand downstrokes. his metal riffing is puney or however you spell it.
Overall, another good review from buddy. Actually, you know what amazes me? I've never heard this guy say "uuh" or "umm" ONCE. Not ever. Even to pause to think. Maybe it's perfectly edited (it's not) or maybe the guy needs 40,000 takes... MAYBE he's some sort of robot but think about that, folks. NEVER AN "Umm". Prove me wrong. IDGAF.
Wish they would have mentioned what sort of amp he was using tho.
Anyone who knows anything about Dimebag would know he used the original Bill Lawrence L-500 hot wired bridge pickup to get his sound. He used them even before Cowboys From Hell was released and when Bill Lawrence went out of business he developed the Seymore Duncan Dimebucker which is a replica of the L-500.
I don't get why Dean would just throw his name on any old pickup, this doesn't even sound anything remotely close to Dimebag's sound.
@skeetv123 well, i have personally played the Dimetime Neck pickup with a SD Dimebucker, and, either of them alone, sound NOTHING like Dime, even through a Randall RG100es. BUT, if you use Both pickups, and mess around with the individual Volume Knobs, then u get the coveted dime tone
Why does everybody say he only used Bill Lawrence!!???!!!!??? He also used the Dimebuckers in his guitars in 2003-2004 when he was endorsing them. Up until then he only used Bill Lawrence 500XL. You will forever be missed and loved by all!! RIP DIME
If you want Dime's original tone, he used a Bill Lawrence 500xl and a dimarzio super distortion in the neck. Either way, tone is more in the fingers of the player, not withstanding your equipment.
Remember guys, Dimebag didn't care so much about a "pretty" tone. He just wanted something that would kick your fucking ass. And these pickups have the balls to do so... I'm not so sure about when they're in pauls hands, but in Dimes... Definitely.
But he also only played the dimebucker very shortly before being shot, so imo if you want a dime tone thats pantera like go with what he used years before his custom guitar/pcik-up/amp. The Razorback also was designed months before his death.
@IBZ93GRG250P ...that depends on what you're going for. alnico is generally weaker than ceramic, but warmer and rounder sounding. seymour duncan JB is alnico. slash uses alnico 2 pros. ...to contrast the dimebucker and duncan distortion are both ceramic pickups. to me if you want a well rounded pickup get alnico, good warmth and sustaine, and still plenty of power. most people dont really need a hot pickup these days because of high gain amps.

@MrORLY the original "bridge" pickup was indeed a Bill Lawrence L500xl ....which he used in his deans. in his washburns he used Seymour Duncan dimebuckers. and in both he used duncan "59" in the neck. i dunno why they put such a hot picup in the neck when dime didnt use one
your point? ..my point was....i don't know why they (the guys with dean) put such a hot pickup in the neck when dime actually used a weak "vintage" power humbucker in the neck of his guitars.
