this song is a miracle. i feel every single verse that she sings here...
especificly this "i know im alone now, i know what it tastes like", Jesus...Is like, when you stop with your little fantasies n illusions for a minute and look around, n realize that there's no one here...Or, when she says "you're talking to her now(...)you r making that face that I like n you'r going in in for the killer kiss..." Just unbelievable. "I need ur money n i need ur love...", I just can't stop singing it.
Please stop arguing about divorce. It is making my head go all fuzzy, and then my nose hurts, and now I have blurry vision and an achy nose, and nobody is any closer to deciphering the lyrics.
@arkaeoperix bc..why would she say "help a BROTHER out" instead of saying "SISTER"? i think he used her badly and is tearing her apart to sell off her good pieces bc he is so greedy in the divorce proceedings..he doesnt even care how he has hurt her.
@arkaeoperix i agree with you to a point..i felt that she was being sarcastic tho..not sacrificial. she is still the germ in his mouth, behind his tonsils as he is kissing another girl and seducing another girl so that he can proverbially kill her.....
This makes so much sense, and I wish I had heard this song so much sooner. I'm the victim of divorce, but I played the part of the small child who had no say in it whatsoever besides who the hell she wanted to end up living with. I was stuck, with only my older sister and younger brother to keep me company. Each of my siblings ended up with me, living with my mother. My dad ended up giving in to drugs and alchohol, and my mom and I grew stronger while my brother is slowly taking the other side.
@theCrazyDshow Do what I'm doing right now. Focus not on the divorce itself, but on keeping the family you have left on its feet and on what you like to do. For me, it's writing and drawing. So to keep my mind on the positive side of things, I write my stories and paint my pictures.
A friend of mine said, a while after her parents got divorced, that it's like getting a new, happier family. You don't have to be officially divorced to be broken.
I thought she was singing in german because my volume was really low and I saw her on a german cover. Shes a really deep singer and in my mind is the best blues singer in this century.
@Leozodiac lol wat. Did you even look at the lyrics? This isn't about being liberated at all. This about being abandoned by someone you love, which happens to everyone at some point unless they're ridiculously lucky; men and women. Does she sound particularly liberated and happy when singing this? No. Women break hearts, men break hearts, and the men and the women write pretty metaphors about it. I'm a guy, and your unprovoked raging anti-feminist comment is simply out of place and awkward.
@arkaeoperix I agree that leozodiac's comment is out of place here, but there is nothing awkward about it. It is pretty straightforward. He expressed something he felt was true (and used a 'colourful' language'). If you feel awkward reading it, it is another matter altogether. Besides, what is wrong with being anti-feminist?
@strontiumXnitrate It is straight forward and coherent, yes, but due to it being so out of place it is awkward. It doesn't relate to the song at all, but tries to make a tedious connection. In terms of his thoughts, there isn't much wrong with having a negative view on feminism (we're all allowed opinions), but when you start talking angrily about it unprovoked and in a way that can only be construed as malicious your opinion becomes annoying and hard to agree with.
@arkaeoperix Well it seems we're more in greement then not. I do not know the original comentator,so I can't guess what pissed him off. I was puzzeld by the lines like 'I need your money, your car and your love'. I cannot see how that relates to the song. Is this an attempt at irony? If you know, please tell me. Also if you are as clueless as I am.
@strontiumXnitrate Well in that line she's asking for money, which contrasts with "Just break me to small parts/Let go in small doses/But spare some for spare parts/There might be some good ones/You might make a dollar" where she's seems to be trying to sacrifice herself in some way to get money for him. Maybe it's to highlight who cares more about money in the narrative? I honestly don't know.
@stophatinlol135 Wait, 50 likes for your comment or 50 likes for the song? If it's the song then I can safely assume you're about to sing THIS song to THAT boy for the fourth time, no?
The first time I heard the song I started bawling almost out of nowhere. Until she said "so won't you help a brotha out" then I started laughing almost uncontrollably. This song is so ridiculously emotional in so many ways and that's why I love it.
The first time I heard this song, I laughed so hard when she said "so can you help a brotha' out?" XD
That's a compliment, though. She's a wonderful lyricist and a wonderful singer, I'm actually just getting into music recently. I'm glad I made that decision. :)
I'm pretty sure this is about her move to New York from Moscow. How she was sad because she had to sell her piano over there and she didn't have one in New York, and missed her home.
@BreannahelloFilms There's something really special attached to this recording.. And I don't hear it live. I've never heard the emotion and tone of her voice in here reproduced anywhere. It's so flawless. I've been looking for a recorded version on youtube for AGES. THANK YOU, UPLOADER. :D

Ever notice how she changes "help a brother out" into the repeated "out" as if she's yelling at someone to get out.
