Go to the start menu and type in the search box "Windows Sidebar" and it will show up :D hope this helps

yeah, basic doesnt give you the transparency. but if you ask pcwizkid he might know where to get a "crack" so you can have it. but if you cant just upgrade to windows 7

I have been using vista for 5 months now. I have noticed the gadgets.. and searched for widgets and gadgets on my vista. Didn't bother after that.

Today.. yes 5 months later I wanted to the widget thing.. never knew it was called a sidebar.. was sitting at menu bar the whole time.

i dont want sidebar, and remember sidebar is just a program, a program you can remake for xp, windows 3.11 and linux and mac virsa versa, the only reson anyone should upgrade to a newer os is if they have newer hardware that needs some os "features" that takes advantage of them, else your just upgraeding to the os to slow down pc, all the fancy looks and programs that comes whit vista, can be done on EVERY os out there, they are simply programs even if theyr refered to as "services"...

I believe that when Windows 7 is released upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 will actually speed up your computer since Windows 7's requirements aren't as high as Vista's and it all ready has drivers for almost every piece of hardware =D

yes, but when they are "services" they are cleaned up, easier to use and use less resources. Ever see one of those "vista transformation packs" Its ways tons of resources WAY more than vista would ever use. I=

No it won't, I have a brand new Vista notebook that runs perfectly fine with the sidebar. The sidebar wouldn't even slow down an old computer.

If you are using Windows XP you can use Google's sidebar. You have to download Google Desktop but it's pretty cool. You can also install it on Vista (i believe) if you like it better.

Watching this vid inspired me to get my Sidebar back up. I disabled it for startup reasons but now I've placed a shortcut on my desktop so when the computer has finished loading then I will then load it up.

Speaking of the CPU Usage, I have a similar gadget on mine but yours looks better. What's the name of that particular tool? May just toy with that :)

I find that the sidebar slows down boot-up by a HUGE amount. Most people disable it for this reason.

I find the sidebar just another piece of the bloated vista package which uses too much ram for my likings. The only sidebar gadget I use is the notepad, and this is just for reminders.
