2009 SSC Ultimate Aero is the ultimate supercar. Put out 1287 hp and 1112 ft-lbs. It's said to be able of achieving speeds of over 270 mph and does 0-60 mph in 2.7 secs. That being said, there were some beautiful cars there. That Ferrari 430 looks beautiful with the stripes.
Do you know Vector? They also claimed insane numbers. Promising technology that didnt exsist. And American public bought every word of it. There are people still today that hail the Vector as the all american supercar killer. However when it was presented to the customers was a colossal failure. It had build quality like chinese rickshaws and several reviewers called it the worst car ever produced. After huge public scandals the company eventually died. The SSC looks like Vector all over again.
Vector only produced like 22 vehicles in it's span and the company was hostilely taken over by an Indonesian company (Megatech) in 1993 (which also bought Lamborghini in 1994). It was this Indonesian company which started producing low quality vehicles with the name Vector on it, which ran the company into the ground. So, no, it's not the same thing at all. Get your facts straight.
I know all that. and so far SSC have made even less than 22 cars and are alredy promising technology that doesnt exsist. Like the Vetor, this thing is built entirely out of hype.
@EatmyDust1311 Look it up. Lamborghini was bought by Megatech from Chrysler in 1994 for $40 million. Megatech is the Indonesian company which bought out Vector and was responsible for it's downfall. Then, in 1998, Megatech sold Lamborghini to Audi AG.

They did twice the SSCs speed at Bonneville in the 60s so I still say... so what.
Thing is. The SSC is famous for 1 thing. But you cant take it out and do 250something on your way to work. So its famous for 1 thing that you cant actually do. Which makes it uselesss. Because it doesnt look good or have any more quality than a 1980s hatchback. Its far below the qualitylevel of Supercars. So.. its got a record... but as a car cant even compare to a lower end Porsche.

Well.. if americans finally produced something good then Ill be the first to congratulate but the more I read about this thing the less likely it looks. Its strange how americans quote the Enzo alot. Its what.. 10 years old now. Stuff has moved on. When koenigsegg and all other small pduction cars come out they are all over every car magazine in the world for 6 months. Not so with the SSC. Infact ive only seen 1 review and they werent very impressed. They said qualitywise it was like 1980s TVR.
Then there is their website claims (that have been changed or modified several times) That states that they will produce a 1000hp electric car for 2009 that needs charging 10 minutes every 3 years. Now.. my phone doesnt charge in 10 minutes and such technology doesnt exsist in the world. Certainly not for 2009 which came and went. Fact is. its all vapourware. They have no such technology. Also I find it weird that their used to build Lambo Diablo replicas and kept the shape for the SSC.
So yeah.. the Vector was an attempt to produce a Lambo Diablo for the american market. Even used Diablo engines in some of them. They used a bundle of hype and big words which all ended in disaster and crap cars.
The SSC people infact made a living building Lambo Diablo replicas for the US market. Some claim they actually licensed Diablo bases for their SSC but I find that unlikely. Its more likely they are using their own Lambo replica bases for the SSC. Either way. you see where Im going.
The SSC is not just a top speed machine like the Veyron. It outhandles most other supercars.
It has very comfy seats and a damn good stereo system, a/c, nav. etc.
It is very rare so hasn't seen major reviews but has been in 7+ mags, and several video and online reviews including business week and Jay Leno's Garage.
The chassis is built from the ground up by SSC. The engine is also 90% theirs.
You find comfy seats and a fucking stereo in chinese rickshaws too and certainly in all sportscars. Dont buy into the bullshit and the hype until you know what you are talking about. Its never been tested properly or even shown in car magazines and its what.. 3 years old now. Have they even sold 10 cars? Its all hype. Like all american cars they simply havent had the budget to build the real thing and there is no way in hell they have accidentally stumbled across the holy grale of automaking.
You do NOT find comfy, leather seats in a rickshaw, nor a stereo. A Bentley has comfy seats and a stereo, is it not luxury? But no one is claiming the SSC to be a luxury car. Just a nice sports car. Gumpert, Ascari, Radical, Ultima, Caparo, etc do not have leather seats or a stereo.
The Aero HAS been in over 7 magazines and several online reviews, every one saying it is comfy.
No they do not have the budget of VW but they still killed the Veyron.
To me it is what the McLaren F1 did. A raw sports car. Fast in every way; handling, acceleration, braking, and top speed and still comfy on the road. Combine that with a visceral experience. No driver aids; no t/c, no abs, no power steering, no power brakes. RWD and a Manual transmission. Sport focused interior yet not racecar stripped. A pure driver's car that requires skill. But is tame on the road.
Oh so now the SSC is better than the F1. Oh my god.. Im simply saying in the world of supercars, you dont get very far by claiming its comfy and can play CDs. I know what review you are talking about, it is only 1 review. It was a review of the old prototype. Watch any new review and they say it has high build quality. See Jay Leno's review or Business Week's. It is high quality and comfy. I doubt you have seen an Ultimate Aero either. I have seen a Veyron. But from pictures of the Aero interior I can tell you it looks damn nice.
You can't sell a car by claiming comfort and CD's. That's why it claims more than the Veyron. Better top speed, better acceleration, better handling, AND comfort.
What does the Veyron offer? Shity stereo, loud interior, decent seats, stiff suspension, and...nothing better than the Aero.

There is very little to be found about this car and its company but I found some and it doesnt exactly inspire faith. Forexample they promised an electric car with 1000 hp to come out in 2009. "Production vehicle" was begun in the 1800s when Karl Benz built twenty five Benz Motorwagens. When used in modern times the term is quite exact and a certain number of a model must be produced in order to qualify for the term. I think around 20-25. The SSCs record then isnt even valid as they have not produced enough cars to qualify.
They keep modifying their claims on their website. They took away the 3 year claim but still claim an electric production car for 2009... Which didnt happen. Fact is. We all know the fact is that if the Veyron was built in USA instead of in France we would never hear the end of it. We would have been spammed with how the Veyron would smoke, kill, rape anything out there. But the fact is... its French / German and it would therefore be unconstitutional to put it above american engineering regardless of facts. For your info Several car magazines have tried contacting SSC to test their car and make reviews. After weeks of trying to contact anyone at the company, they left messages, called, E-mailed. No answer. The last logged entry on their press/media section is from 2008. They then tried talking to the record-run test driver. He had died in a crash. Their conclusion was that not alot is going on in the SSC company. They might look for investors but certainly arent busy building cars or taking orders.
I also found that they went bankrupt and had a Saudi Prince rescue them and help set up a dealer in Dubai. There are now lawsuits going around. They are being sued for lying to Forbes Magazine both about the company and the cars stats. They claim to have delivered more cars than they have made and to have had 25 false orders. People involved with their marketing say they were offered 100 000 dollars for each car they could sell and say they were offered money to put this thing in record books.
Infact the more I read about this thing the more it looks like the new Vector. It too served insane claims and when it actually arrived was a shadow of its hyped up image. Nobody has ever seen proof of this SSC being any good at anything. Its carried only on the spam from the all-too-willing american public that love to use it as a battering ram for american cars. While reality is somewhat different. Just look at their webpage. What happened to their 1000hp electric car for 2009. Vapourware.

My friends all go to Monacco for the F1 races each year. 20-30 people going. We traditionally rent a Gallardo for the weekend. But at ripoff prices. 3000 Euros or something.
Yeah about the same prices here, I tried to rent a F430 in Las Vegas for about $1200 a day. But if I rent one at that price I want to drive the S*#t out of it : )

2009 SSC Ultimate Aero is the ultimate supercar. Put out 1287 hp and 1112 ft-lbs. It's said to be able of achieving speeds of over 270 mph and does 0-60 mph in 2.7 secs. That being said, there were some beautiful cars there. That Ferrari 430 looks beautiful with the stripes.

Do you know Vector? They also claimed insane numbers. Promising technology that didnt exsist. And American public bought every word of it. There are people still today that hail the Vector as the all american supercar killer. However when it was presented to the customers was a colossal failure. It had build quality like chinese rickshaws and several reviewers called it the worst car ever produced. After huge public scandals the company eventually died. The SSC looks like Vector all over again.

Vector only produced like 22 vehicles in it's span and the company was hostilely taken over by an Indonesian company (Megatech) in 1993 (which also bought Lamborghini in 1994). It was this Indonesian company which started producing low quality vehicles with the name Vector on it, which ran the company into the ground. So, no, it's not the same thing at all. @EatmyDust1311 Look it up. Lamborghini was bought by Megatech from Chrysler in 1994 for $40 million. Megatech is the Indonesian company which bought out Vector and was responsible for it's downfall. Then, in 1998, Megatech sold Lamborghini to Audi AG.

They did twice the SSCs speed at Bonneville in the 60s so I still say... so what.
Thing is. The SSC is famous for 1 thing. But you cant take it out and do 250something on your way to work. So its famous for 1 thing that you cant actually do. Which makes it uselesss. Because it doesnt look good or have any more quality than a 1980s hatchback. Its far below the qualitylevel of Supercars. So.. its got a record... but as a car cant even compare to a lower end Porsche.

@Janusha the ssc is not a streamliner. i have been to el mirage when they do races, those cars (while extremely badass) are not even close to being street cars. the ssc did it, and meets safety and emissions standards inCALIFORNIA, which until now, koenigsegg and pagani havent done. it also has the luxury of a street car, with leather, sat nav, cd/dvd/mp3 player, recaro seats. it also outhandles every other car out there, it broke r&t slalom record held by the ferrari enzo. and has a 9.9 1/4mile

Well.. if americans finally produced something good then Ill be the first to congratulate but the more I read about this thing the less likely it looks. Its strange how americans quote the Enzo alot. Its what.. 10 years old now. Stuff has moved on. When koenigsegg and all other small pduction cars come out they are all over every car magazine in the world for 6 months. Not so with the SSC. Infact ive only seen 1 review and they werent very impressed. They said qualitywise it was like 1980s TVR.

Then there is their website claims (that have been changed or modified several times) That states that they will produce a 1000hp electric car for 2009 that needs charging 10 minutes every 3 years. Now.. my phone doesnt charge in 10 minutes and such technology doesnt exsist in the world. Certainly not for 2009 which came and went. Fact is. its all vapourware. They have no such technology. Also I find it weird that their used to build Lambo Diablo replicas and kept the shape for the SSC.

So yeah.. the Vector was an attempt to produce a Lambo Diablo for the american market. Even used Diablo engines in some of them. They used a bundle of hype and big words which all ended in disaster and crap cars.
The SSC people infact made a living building Lambo Diablo replicas for the US market. Some claim they actually licensed Diablo bases for their SSC but I find that unlikely. Its more likely they are using their own Lambo replica bases for the SSC. Either way. you see where Im going.

The SSC is not just a top speed machine like the Veyron. It outhandles most other supercars.
It has very comfy seats and a damn good stereo system, a/c, nav. etc.
It is very rare so hasn't seen major reviews but has been in 7+ mags, and several video and online reviews including business week and Jay Leno's Garage.
The chassis is built from the ground up by SSC. The engine is also 90% theirs.

You do NOT find comfy, leather seats in a rickshaw, nor a stereo. A Bentley has comfy seats and a stereo, is it not luxury? But no one is claiming the SSC to be a luxury car. Just a nice sports car. Gumpert, Ascari, Radical, Ultima, Caparo, etc do not have leather seats or a stereo.
The Aero HAS been in over 7 magazines and several online reviews, every one saying it is comfy.
No they do not have the budget of VW but they still killed the Veyron.

What is the Holy Grail of automaking?
To me it is what the McLaren F1 did. A raw sports car. Fast in every way; handling, acceleration, braking, and top speed and still comfy on the road. Combine that with a visceral experience. No driver aids; no t/c, no abs, no power steering, no power brakes. RWD and a Manual transmission. Sport focused interior yet not racecar stripped. A pure driver's car that requires skill. But is tame on the road.
SSC did exactly that, but better.

Fact is.. car reviewers that have actually tested it say its got build quality like 1980s TVR and has all the luxury of a Malaysian hatchback. You probably havent even seen one or a Bugatti but I have. And I can tell you.. You cant even compare it to a lower end Porsche. Its like all american cars funded entirely on hype and patriotism.

I reserve my rights to be veeeery sceptical of this thing until I see it properly tested for reasons described. They also server a bundle of lies on their web page. All vapourware. The last company that tried this exact thing was Vector. They also started out trying to make a Lambo Diablo for the american market, even used Diablo engines for a bit, hyped their cars to the skies and ended up producing what many reviewers have called the worst car ever built. After many scandals the company died.

I know what review you are talking about, it is only 1 review. It was a review of the old prototype. Watch any new review and they say it has high build quality. See Jay Leno's review or Business Week's. It is high quality and comfy. I doubt you have seen an Ultimate Aero either. I have seen a Veyron. But from pictures of the Aero interior I can tell you it looks damn nice.

What does the Veyron offer? Shity stereo, loud interior, decent seats, stiff suspension, and...nothing better than the Aero.
I AM saying the Aero is better than the McLaren F1. Why not? It does everything the F1 does but better. Speed and comfort, and all the visceral thrills.

Asking price was 1.2 million dollars I think but ive seen one sold on auction in USA for nearly 3. And your biggest mistake is comparing it to the McLaren F1. What is the F1? Light weight, manual transmission, RWD, no traction control, no ABS, no power steering, and no power brakes. It is focused on driver interaction. It is engineered for handling, acceleration and top speed.
The SSC Ultimate Aero does the EXACT SAME THING.
The Veyron is the EXACT OPPOSITE.
So by saying the McLaren F1 is the target design you are saying the Veyron SUCKS, and the Ultimate Aero is amazing.

My cheap 1991 Toyota Truck has that, they could easily put it in the F1 but they did NOT want it. It takes away from the visceral experience. I really dont care where he got his money. Nor do I see it as relevant. Do some research yourself. There is very little to be found about this car and its company but I found some and it doesnt exactly inspire faith. Forexample they promised an electric car with 1000 hp to come out in 2009. And it doesnt stop there.. They promised it would need charging 10 minutes every 3 years. My phone doesnt charge in 10 minutes for christs sakes. Such stuff is called vapourware.

@Janusha you claimed they made kit cars, and i proved you wrong. they never claimed the ev would go 3 years on a charge, although that would be nice (mini nuclear reactor?) they claimed it would go 150-200 miles on a charge and charge in "as little as 10 minutes" probably on a 220 volt circuit like for a refridgerator or electric oven, although a normall plug would take longer. thats what thier website says.

Proved me wrong? well.. All you need to do is look on their wikipedia to see that their only previous qualification before the SSC is to produce kit cars.
"Production vehicle" was begun in the 1800s when Karl Benz built twenty five Benz Motorwagens. When used in modern times the term is quite exact and a certain number of a model must be produced in order to qualify for the term. I think around 20-25. The SSCs record then isnt even valid as they have not produced enough cars to qualify.

Ive seen ONE SSC review. They said it set off uncontrollably like a rocket, had 1980s build quality and all the luxury or a chinese rickshaw. In other words.. They werent very impressed. And rightly so. If someone traded in a Veyron for a ZR1 thats like trading a villa by the sea for a basement appartment and says more about the individual than the car. Ridiculous point to make. Gordon Murray disaproved of the comparison between his F1 and the Veyron. Like I disapprove of the SSCs to the Veyron.

We all know the fact is that if the Veyron was built in USA instead of in France we would never hear the end of it. We would have been spammed with how the Veyron would smoke, kill, rape anything out there. But the fact is... its French / German and it would therefore be unconstitutional to put it above american engineering regardless of facts. For your info Several car magazines have tried contacting SSC to test their car and make reviews. After weeks of trying to contact anyone at the company, they left messages, called, E-mailed. No answer. The last logged entry on their press/media section is from 2008. They then tried talking to the record-run test driver. He had died in a crash. Their conclusion was that not alot is going on in the SSC company. They might look for investors but certainly arent busy building cars or taking orders.

I also found that they went bankrupt and had a Saudi Prince rescue them and help set up a dealer in Dubai. There are now lawsuits going around. They are being sued for lying to Forbes Magazine both about the company and the cars stats. They claim to have delivered more cars than they have made and to have had 25 false orders. People involved with their marketing say they were offered 100 000 dollars for each car they could sell and say they were offered money to put this thing in record books.

Janusha didn't. You are the one who refuse to research. SSC was formerly known as Shelby Customs Exotics where they built Lambo Diablo and Ferrari F355 replicas i.e. kit cars. Even US magazines like R&T were unimpressed with Ultimate Aero. The fact is there, you don't want to see it .

If its unrelated why do they claim to use the exact same Lambo Diablo kitcar as base for their first SSC. thats why their car has all the proportions of a Diablo. even the doors going up. Infact.. at first they lied to me and claimed they were actually using licenced "Diablo frames" which is bullshit. My company back in England had 2 Diablos and I know very well there is no "frame" in them. Ive been to the Lambo factory in Italy and I know they dont have 90s parts lying around. Its all bullshit.

SSC head-man Jerod Shelby issued a statement soon after Bugatti’s 268 mph run. He congratulated his rivals, “We would sincerely like to congratulate Bugatti… When the Ultimate Aero broke the record in 2007, we knew it was just a matter of time until it was broken by someone else. ”

10 years ago I was working in Yorkshire driving Ferraris and Lambos. However the computer business is less glamorous these days. You have to forgive these keyboard-racing nublets for they know not what they are saying. Americans in particular dont get car magazines. American car mags are full of "rims" and after market tuneparts for god damn mustangs. They dont get the facts and critical reviews. hell they are the only country in the world that doesnt openly criticise cars on TV.

Wow the computer business has never been Ferrari, Lambo glamorous for me just BMW glamorous.
However renting a Ferrari, Lambo, R8 or a Porsche Turbo and driving it on the autobahn is on my bucket list. One day for sure : )

My friends all go to Monacco for the F1 races each year. 20-30 people going. We traditionally rent a Gallardo for the weekend. But at ripoff prices. 3000 Euros or something.
