Nice!! I am about to purchase the Dgx-640 in 2 weeks but i all ready have a external amp so i won't have to push the factory speakers. I can't wait to here your all piano version.
@BIGDADDY36253 Excellent idea to use the amp so you won't be distracted by the weaker on board sound. The best sound of all is when you listen through a good set of amplified headphones. The stereo spaciousness of the DGX is phenomenal and a wonderful listening experience. Good luck with your new keyboard.
@BIGDADDY36253 Oh BTW, I just uploaded two versions of another moldy oldy: Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers (used in the movie Ghost). I'd be interested in your opinion.
do you have problems with the speakers or vibrations or anything? after reading some comments im confused because some say its amazing but others say they have problems. thanks!
@sdkfun414 I did not have any problems with mine, but am aware there have been a few complaints online. Ideally, you would play it through external monitors or a keyboard amp to get the best/maximum sound. Onboard speakers on any keyboards are always going to be extremely limited. I have a suspicion that maybe some people were expecting too much from those small speakers and cranking them up too high. This keyboard IMHO is spectacular for the money. Buy from a place that will take a return.
very well played, personally i would have kept out the drums and strings to go wth a natural piano sound but it still sounds great, and man i want that keyboard so bad lol
@themusicstory Thanks for your impressions. I'm always debating with myself whether I should do a song with natural piano or with accompaniments. I am currently working on a couple of original compositions where I plan to do two versions, one just clean piano sound and the other the full wall of sound effect where I go in with all my favorite patches and effects and keep layering them in real time. I enjoy doing both.

When I was but a lad I fell in love with this song so much I played it and played it and drove everyone crazy! I still love it! Thanks for taking me back to my youth. I like your arrangement a lot! It works!
Thanks for your thoughts. I picked it all out by ear and did not write anything down. You can view this in large screen mode and view my right hand notes and chords for a general idea. Good luck.
I remember when this first came out and was and am a great fan of this song and the Animals in general, but you have done great here as well. It's always great to find new ways to enjoy older music. It doesn't take away from what has already been done, that we will always have!!! Great work!!!
The first 40 seconds were the best, iam the kind of person who just likes the sound of the piano when playing this song in particular. This song doesn't really need any "add ons" like in this video.
Thx. I go through different musical moods myself laying the same piece. Sometimes I just like to hear the pure unaccompanied piano sound. Other times I like to floor it and hear a simulated Phil Spector Wall of Sound saturation coming from layered patches. I play this particular song both ways for myself.
can u put sounds from this keyboard into ur computer like a software program like fl studio?? BTW man ur amazing i that doll, it make ur videos unique and its like own little sign.
Yes you can. You can use the headphone out jack or the USB out. I've used it with Garage Band software directly from the headphone out jack. I haven't done any professional recording work so you might want to do more research if you need to get the highest quality output. Thanks for your comment.
I record all these songs without a microphone so you're not hearing the onboard speakers at all. I record directly from the keyboard "phone out" line which goes into the recording computer (PC or Mac) "mic in" line, using a "Y" splitter to simultaneously connect to a headphone for live monitoring. If you listen to your keyboard through good stereo headphones, it will sound just as good. Onboard speakers can't compare. You could also connect the keyboard to amplified external speakers.
Can this keyboard be plugged into amps? I know it has built in speakers, but if you're playing with a full band, the built-ins aren't loud enough.....Btw this is amazing....keep up the great work!!
Yes, although there isn't a dedicated jack on the YPG for speaker hookup, you can run a stereo cable out of the headphone jack and then to your amp. You have to figure out the ideal keyboard volume vs. amp volume to get the best sound. I also connected it to my home stereo in the same way to play it in surround sound. Good luck.
Yes it comes with a built-in dedicated stand and a single pedal. However, I strongly recommend buying the optional Yamaha FC-4 heavy duty pedal. The one that comes with the keyboard is very lightweight and will move all over the floor whereas the FC-4 will stay firmly in place. The newer model YPG-635 also has the option of adding the LP7 triple pedal which is good if you want a concert piano feel. Then, of course you wouldn't need the FC-4. I've only used the FC-4. Good luck.

I've recently had a terrible experience with the Yamaha YPG-635. It has developed three scratching keys and the speaker system rattles all the components-terrible quality. And Yamaha won't cover me on warranty. So if you know anyone considering buying one spread the word. We need to stop these huge corporations from robbing us blind. Time to buy a Roland I guess..
Sorry to hear about your YPG problems. Mine is the older YPG-625 and I fortunately had no problems at all. However, I have recently read some other posts from people who had your same rattle problem with the 635. I'm surprised Yamaha is not backing you on this. I would keep trying to contact different people at Yamaha until you reach someone who can help you. Have you talked to your retailer for help? Good luck.
i think he plays a YGP-635 or a DGX630 (same thing i think). i want one soooo bad! but it's like 900 bucks :( ... Awesome version of this song, very well-played, I like what this keyboard can do :P
I'm playing the YPG 625 which is now replaced by the 635. I'm sure you can get a real good deal on the 625 used now if you check Craigslist etc. The 635 is not that much different, except for the increased poyphony which may or may not be important to you. Good luck. Thanks for your comment.
could you please make a tutorial for this song. recently i have been learning a variety of different songs, and this would still be the one i want to learn the most. dont worry i will tell people you make this version if they ask.
Thx for your interest. I just picked it out by trial and error and my camera is built into my desktop so I couldn't make a bird's eye view. But you can do a full enlarge of the video and see more detail as to what notes my hands are playing. There might be some tutorials on YT already playing the song as a cover. Mine has a lot of additional movements of my own. Good luck.
dude how do you do things like that?!?! trial an error i thought u was grade 8 im just learning house of the risign sun and its an easy version uve gotta send me the notes u used i realy liked your version
Thanks. Sorry I don't have any notes for it and don't even know the chord names for it. Just kept picking away at it till it came out the way I wanted it to.
This is very beautiful! Must be my favourite version of this song (maybe bacause I love piano music, but you made alot variation in this, so I don't get tired of it after 2 minutes)
YPG is a great value. Check out my "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" composition and the variety of voice effects I used on it for demonstration. I performed the entire piece live with zero track sequencing, all was played at one time, straight through. Yamaha piano sound is excellent. Great all around instrument. Everything in music, of course, is in the ear of the beholder. If you have special needs, then it's best to find out what instrument/tool is best for the job. Good luck.
Hey, this was great! You know what im going to do when i get better on guitar and better on the computer stuff. I'll take this video as background track and add a solo improvise! And dude we would be famous! Nah, but seriously, this could be the best background track!
You should add a solo by the way, would be the best!
Thanks. I look forward to hearing your solo improv. Send me a note when you post it so I can check it out. Kindly give credit to "HalUnlimited at YouTube" for the main piece in your description. Thanks.

That's a phenomenal deal you got. The driver should be on their website, however, if it's not easy to find, call up their customer service, and ask them to send you the CD that has the drivers on it. Or check ebay for the CD. You can also get the manual free as a pdf on the Yamaha site. Good luck with your new keys. Enjoy.
I just got my 625 this week! Got the floor model for $500. Only problem was no driver for the comp... Any idea where I can find one? Yamaha's site sucks for info on it. Great job btw! I hope to learn to play myself!
Thanks. When I get good enough to play the level I really want to play I'll be happy to put up a tutorial. I've been picking out everything by ear and don't even have the notes written down. I just keep working on each piece by trial and error.
Thanks. Bought it about 8 months ago for $800 including useful accessories. Check out my original "Homage to ET" which demonstrates a lot of this keyboard's voices and let me know what you think.
I dont think you will get booed of any time soon, haha ;)) This was awsome. Sounds just like an western classic, did you use that as a brick to improvise from?? :) It was really great! You gona get ALOT of subscribers with that kind of playing :) 5st

Yes it comes with a built-in dedicated stand and a single pedal. However, I strongly recommend buying the optional Yamaha FC-4 heavy duty pedal. The newer model YPG-635 also has the option of adding the LP7 triple pedal which is good if you want a concert piano feel. Then, of course you wouldn't need the FC-4. I've only used the FC-4. Thanks. Bought it about 8 months ago for $800 including useful accessories. Check out my original "Homage to ET" which demonstrates a lot of this keyboard's voices and let me know what you think.
