Less wear on clutch, you can be 100% sure you're in the next gear, etc...
harder on transmission, though

It's faster than using the clutch, but notice he does use it to down shift. It's not good on the chain drive system for the wheel to be pulling on the chain instead of being pulled by it.

when you hit perfect rpm there is no need to use a clutch..in this bike 6000 rpm should do just fine
