  • Great bass playing -- wow.

  • Gary M doesn't get a lot of recognition, but anyone who can keep up with these guys is a master. Besides he makes Tommy smile so he has to be good! I'm so bummed I missed this tour.

  • Bassist is a BEAST! Tommy and Frank, just COOK!

  • The guitarist on the left is Vinny Raniolo

  • Who's that guitar player on the extreme left? anybody?

  • anyone who doesn't think they are having a great time and doing what they love is just plain confused.

  • The bass Player is Gary Massurapi and is one of the very best ever.

  • It's great to see a guy like Tommy bring the energy of blues and folk rock to this old dusty standard which a lot of regular jazz cats play. No dust here!

  • The Bass player is probably the best alive. He played with Les Paul for years up until his death. I saw the trio (Frank, Vinny, and the bass player, whose name slips my mind at the moment) in Fayettville Arkansas about a month ago.

  • @NathanBellSax That's Gary Mazaroppi. I saw him play Flight of the Bumblebee with Frank a while ago. It was just mind blowing.

  • tommy is considered one of the best guitars player of the world just for mention it

  • oh,just listen to the music!!! stop arguing about who's best!!! the music that they play is "best". it's so wonderful watching such great players jammin' so nice and having (obviously) so much fun! they are great.both. and as a guitarist,i have to say that it is always a pleasure to watch people mastering the instrument in such a delightful way... JUST ENJOY!

  • I dunno, it's pretty hard to hate Tommy Emmanuel - he just has so much fun in everything I've seen him in, and you can tell he really just loves music and playing guitar.

  • We have just witnessed the best music on earth...

  • watched these guys in york afew weeks ago fantastic

  • ll the bass player looks so random...

  • its called a superstar's ego... he plays whatever he wants to play.

  • Frank loves playing with Tommy, he always looks very happy doing it - so that kills your theory haladhara; and don't try to insult every Emmanuel fan just to justify your point of view - you're the only ass here!

  • @Haladhara1 We understand you perfectly...it's you who doesn't understand reality.

  • Excellent.........

  • This further confirms that TE can hang with anyone from any genre. Who else can do that? Who has ever been able to do that?

I think the contrast in tone and styles here is complimentary. Two Vognolas would be a little pointless. I also think as Les Paul said on a number of occasions, TE makes me play on a new level.

  • To me he can definitely hang in however he's lines aren't really that stylistic. And to my surprise this is not the amazing frank that I'm used to.

The answer for your first couple of questions - Almost every top session guitarists in the business today. Tommy is very versatile but there are plenty of other people who can do the same.

  • Where's your evidence because all I can find is TE plastered all over YT playing with and in the style of many greats from numerous genre and pushing them to play better.

  • Let me just say YT doesn't mean much. It's good for being introduced to an artist. What is on youtube is only a very small part of an artist's work. There is a lot of stuff on YT with Tommy because he is a great player and is very famous.

I don't think he is pushing frank in this video hard. I mean he is a great player but he really doesn't fit in here to my ears.

As much as I respect TE, he is not THE most versatile guitarist there are plenty of examples even on YT. I'm sure TE will agree.

  • @qead0828 While you pontificate these guys are just out there entertaining that's what it's all about. Enjoying playing music! Nothing else matters :o)

  • tommys percussive breaks are killer!

  • Great Stuff. Instant Joy. Frank and Tommy are making me remember Les Paul and then June Christy and Ella Jane Fitzgerald.

  • Nothing competition, heart and comunication, pure music. wonderfull!

  • Although they are both fantastic at what they do, Frank Vignola is the jazz player here.

  • amazing

  • WOW

    I can't stop watching this...fantastic....great music, Tommy's and Frank's virtuosity is amazing....such a great arrangement....This is what a lifetime's work and one in a million's talent builds to! FANTASTIC

Bass player is MAD too, =P

  • love that break at 4:33 ... two of the best guys in the biz....

  • I saw this one live- thanks for the post. I'll answer the musical question posed: the Moon ain't gettin any higher than this! TE & Frank Vignola are joined by Gary Mazzaroppi on Bass and Vinny Raniolo on Rhythm. Reminds me of Chester N' Lester and TE & Frank each worked at length with the pair respectively-what better pair to do it than them!

  • Fantastic footage and great playing!

  • Oh my God ! Fantastic !Joanne
