in america, we have mostly efficient, straight streets, so acceleration matters more than turning here...just look at american high performance cars. zr1's and vipers out pace lambo's on the nurburgring, and the cadillac cts-v is one of the fastest sedans around the ring. mustangs, camaros, and challengers are not designed with tracks in mind. they were designed as affordable, nice looking, and fast acceleration for the price

@samg9888 wrong on both accounts. european cars generally have less torque than american cars... ie ferrari's, lambos, and bmw's all have less torque than comparable vipers, corvettes, mustangs, etc.

and 2) torque doesnt help in the long run...it's at the start of the race. after a quarter mile, HP, weight, and aerodynamics are all that matter

@fintangilhooly1 not true. look at the ford f-150 econboost. 3.5L v6 with 360hp and 420ft/lbs. american engines never come from the factory making their potential. that's why you can see a lightly modified mustang running 10 second 1/4 miles, while the fastest a moddified mercedes has EVER done is in the 9's. not to mention the fact that the mustang 5L v8 get's better gas mileage then a m3 4L v8...and the z06 has a 7 L v8, but gets better gas mileage and WEIGHS less than an m3.

Besides the ACR that lapped in 7:12 was not a stock out of the box car. It had extensive race prepped setup by Mintgin motorsport/Vulkan Racing. GM claims to use completely stock cars

@xflynskywlkr23 couldn't find one reputable source stating the CTS-V time was done with a stripped interior...and as far as the ZR1's, they're all fully documented with youtube videos. there has been no independent ZR1 tests since 09...and Sport Auto ran an '09 ZR1 vs a 2010 ferrari 458 and 2009 GTR WITH THE EXACT SAME DRIVER, and the zr1 beat both
