I like the guitar a lot; the only problem is the distortion on the voice (you must have been too close to the microphone) - but your voice and passion in singing it are great! I like the "bathrobe touch" myself!!
I'm only familiar w/ the Leslie Duncan version, but when you pluck the bass strings, the first two chords seem a little off (compared to her version) in this video. I think she might fret the B string on the second fret.
hi there and thanks, guitar is tuned in standard concert pitch, and ive capoed the second fret to suit my own voice, the original is also capoed on the second fret, kind regards, and best wishes
I was just listening to the Tumbleweed Connection album and remembered that I bookmarked your video. You do a fine job of the cover, and I appreciate that you show the chording and fingerstyle picking. I'm seriously thinking of playing it for my fiancee when we get married. Thanks !!
remember it was 74,75 junior high school philippine summer, can't do anything at 15,16 so i walked passed the school and surprised to see a senior at the school's footsteps strumming a guitar. and when i got near him, this was the song he was singing and plucking to, for a full hour, just this song, over and over. can't forget that very moment since then.
Thats very nice of you, music is such a powerfull emotion, to our senses,So many sweet memories for me as a young man in this song, listen to Elton John sing the original with Leslie Duncan who wrote the song, its on his album Tumbleweed Connection, its really quite beautifull!!.Thanks again kind regards Glenn, sorry about the distortion on the sound, its an ongoing problem with my webcam recordings im afraid,i'll do it again when i sort it out,!
Very nice. I felt good. There is audio recording overload, or so it sounds. Just wanted to see if it was just me, and let you know. Thanks for recording this lovely underplayed song.
Have you heard Olivia Newton John's version of this? It's on her first album,(1971, pretty sure. When she was a country singer). I'm kind of partial to her version. I didn't even know Elton did it until this last year. Great song. Thanks for posting.
Thank you all, for your very kind comments, I remember being very Impressed and... yes. affected by this song as a young man,in the early 70,s a song ive remembered all my life..and listed to many times over the years, i always loved the sound of waves breaking on the beach and childrens laughter in the origional song,if youve never heard it buy Elton Johns
Sung with emotion and feeling. This is one of my favourite Elton John songs. All those memories of the early 70's flooding back. Thankyou and well done. Tony Davies
Hi Glenn, just did a search for Lesley Duncan and this is all .. I really like your interpretation .. this is all this lovely song needs, voice and guitar.
She had a few albums in early 70's. "Everything changes" was one i remember, many haunting ballads on it. She did a lot of session work with Madeline Bell, Dusty and Elton John.
Nice job, Glenn, of a great song by Lesley Duncan, RIP. Carey Creed also sings a stunning version of this song on her album "I'll Know You."

Nice job. Really nice. You're not Elton, but you put your own spin on it and I like it just as much. Keep it up.

Leslie Duncan also sang the wonderful track "If I could change your mind" off of Alan Parsons Project's 1979 album "Eve". Its an unforgetable song.
