  • lol Nutting

  • it's eve online but more interesting.

  • I saw a white version of Computer Space in the movie, Soilent Green. It would be cool to learn how to sculpt fiberglass and build a replica of the arcade machine, and paint it up with metalflake paint, and few coats of resin. This emulation is about as close as you can get to the original arcade machine. I have this emulation, and it works well even on win 7. ;)

  • a barcade near me hs this game

  • The sound effects for this game is almost as annoying as a lady gaga song.

  • DAmn this is eargasm !

  • I remember the first time I saw this game was at the Flea Market on Berryessa Rd.

  • Heh heh... you can steer the bullets just like on the old Odyssey system. I remember back in the day when I fist started going to arcades... I can't say I had the pleasure of playing this one but I played Space War. Even with all the newer machines all around that one still held it's own. I would do anything to turn back time and visit one of those classic arcades just once more...

  • Nolan Bushnell's son wyatt goes to my school. i didnt realize he was actually serious when he told me who his dad was. this is awesome.

  • very hard game thats all i can say

  • Thats how Nintendo thinks a video game should look like.

We are going full circle my friends.

  • omg you nerd!

  • It wouldn't be Jesus on a Cross... It'd be like a shrine to out dated Consoles. :P Gamer for Life \m/

  • It's ery very similar to spacewar

  • Computer Space was a direct attempt by Nolan Bushnell to monetize Spacewar!, a game he had played on a mainframe at the University of Utah.

  • yup, and in 1977 a very good port of spacewar to the arcade was made by cinematronics, it's called space wars. Go to KLOV for more information

  • when it die you can hear a farth lol X)

  • there is a game very similar to this in the miny games section in 'toshinden 4', am i right?

  • Beeeeep booooooong puckapuckapucka. GAAAAAAAH!

  • were gonna all die by 2045

  • @thepoopsniff y 2045?

  • ha ha maybe!

  • i found one of these in a bar in cyprus 9 years back

  • So that means Pac-Man fever should be hitting Cyprus right about now.

  • Hah.

  • @Umma6umma hahahahahhaah :D

  • does anyone else think that sound is enough to make you cringe?

  • oh..come on!..

this version is a dodgey cheap emulation, it is just plain terrible compared to the original's smooth flowing vectored graphics of the pre-1971 unit...I truly hope that the younger gen that are watching this don't take this as being THE historical version.

    This is bullshit..sorry...fuck off.

  • I wouldn't call this a "dodgey cheap" emulation, I think it's pretty accurate to the original graphics, which weren't vector, by the way. The first vector game wouldn't come until six years later with Space Wars in 1977.

  • well i do agree with superspit, its doesn't look as good as the true one

  • In 2045 games look so realistic they wouldn't know how to improve the graphics no more. This is history though.

  • @royalsteven In 2045 we will be eating dogs and cats to stay alive.......rats too probably. The future is never how you imagine it.

  • Man we will never become the Chinese!

  • @pme96 So if are imagining that we'll have to eat cats and dogs, that means we won't right? But then I'd have to IMAGINE that we won't be eating them... dammit...

  • That was in 1971 ... now we got much better ... but imagine in 2045 ^^ Damn games are gonna PWN ... and I'm gonna be old -_-

  • Love the vintage sound effects. It sounds like radio test signals from Sputnik-1, or something.

  • Oh Dear!

Sadly I remember playing this many, many years ago - I just remember it being very confusing!

COD4 Rocks my world these days, but its great to load up MAME every now and then and have a blast on an old classic like Lunar Lander, Scramble, Invaders or Galaxians.

Like to see one of you 'pro-gamers' make a pocket full of 10p's last all afternoon!

    Thanks for the post dude!

  • I heard Uwe Boll is directing the movie adaptation.

  • Does it support pixel shaders?

  • I've never been able to find a way to play this game although always wanted to try it.

  • The first ever video game made and started the

    the revolution of gaming :)

    Hats off

  • The first mass produced computer video game.

  • Well... the first mass produced Arcade video game anyway.

  • It's so damn cool, when we compare just how much gaming has evolved since Nolan Bushnell made it a popular past time.

  • A remake not the original

  • im glad many arcade game from 1979 and below are on the atari 2600 also

  • my record is 12 to 3 :), wuts urs?

  • It's going to make a comeback in a big way!

  • Thank you for the post. It still amazes me how computer games have evolved over the past 36 years.

  • My pleasure. The refrain that keeps running through my mind these days as I post these is "from this to Halo 3, from this to Halo 3". ;)

  • You mean Crysis.

  • Yes, funny how quickly graphically advanced computer game reference go out of date ;)
