@NerdyNina101 If I didn't say it, then I didn't. I cannot remember. Also, it would be in the directions. Sorry this is an old video, so I can't remember
I have never had any success making homemade frosting. It always tastes icky. Thank you for sharing this recipe. Your red, white and blue cupcakes look yummy and very festive!
@MouseChirpy Tammy uses the same recipe for her cupcakes every time. I am going to give that a try next time. I just like the stuff that doesn't have to be refrigerated. Don't want a cold cake. Ick.
This is very close to Wilton Class Buttercream. Have you tried it with 1/2 tsp clear butter flavour and 1/2 tsp clear vanilla instead of the whole teaspoon of vanilla? You can also add a pinch of salt with your liquid to cut the sweetness (it's very sweet). It's also REALLY good if you use whipping cream (35%) instead of water for your liquid - you usually have to add a bit more, but it's amazing.
That type of frosting can burn the motor on a hand held mixer since its so thick. my wilton cake instructor told me that. she got me to buy a stand mixer and its so much easier :)
@starkrazi Yep, I will definitely be using my stand mixer next time I make this. I didn't realize it was going to get so freaky thick,..but I know now :))
I know it's good. When I make this, James asks... does this have crisco in it? and Of course I always tell the truth. That turns him off! He doesn't like Crisco icing. But he will eat butter cream. Hugs girl!
The other day I made this icing & I instantly fell in love with it! The BEST icing I've ever eaten! It's very light, not too sweet & eating it is like an orgasm in your mouth! It's called Crisco icing by the way.
yehhhh for this !!!! two days back i made icing ,ohh god it was like yukkkkkkk it was like sm paste.....oh i wish u made this video be4,,,,my mothers bday cake might hv turend in to the best icing cake i ever made!!!! will try this !!! <3 five stars !!!!
@Ativabrand I have pretty much that recipe already posted (I think it's called Bakery Frosting) and I think with the extracts, it takes away from any flavored cupcakes you are making (IMO). The vanilla cupcakes I just posted were so incredibly delicious that I would have hate to have mucked it up with almond extract trying to steal the show. However, if you are just doing a boxed cake mix ... Yep those work lovely
Yum! I love white frosting. I know people are anti-shortening these days, but it does make some really good frosting. I also make butter cream frosting with butter, milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla. I never use non-dairy creamer, because milk works better for me. Thanks for sharing! P.S. I made the turkey/tomato casserole last night. My family loved it!
@LisainCalifornia Yeah, a lot of people love the frosting until they know what it is and then want to gag. So it is always best to keep it on the down low ;)
did you sift your sugar?

I'm in the UK what is shortening please?
PurplePhoebe 7 months ago
@PurplePhoebe in the UK shortening is available under brand names such as Cookeen, Trex, White Flora, etc.
CookingAndCrafting 6 months ago
can i use cream cheese or butter to substitute the shortening, because we don't have that here in Hong Kong.

could you give me permission to eat this on its own? It might make me feel a little better if I make it and have none left to put on the cake lol

kareemtiheed 8 months ago
@kareemtiheed Definitely--it will last quite a bit
CookingAndCrafting 8 months ago
@kareemtiheed This can last quite some time even if you leave it out the entire day. There's no raw egg in the icing so it's okay.

You can also add one teaspoon of butter flavor and one teaspoon almond extract with your teaspoon of vanilla and that gives it a great flavor
