  • 1 FOR THE VAULT ! ♥♫~{\o/}~

  • Both compliment each other perfectly. KK tremelo/wah/feel impresses me, Glenn's scales and melodic solo's awesome. Both SHRED!!!

  • Tipton wins

  • What the other guy said; it's like deciding whether or not you like your thumb or index finger more; they're different and serve different purposes, but without either your hand would be incomplete. They both deserve the title of best guitarist ever. I don't care what anyone says; they're CLEARLY the best, and obviously the most humble as well considering they've no problem working with each other.

  • In my opinion, Glenn Tipton still keep the same style which is the proper mark of Judas Priest´s songs, and nowadays K.K. Downing plays like several heavy-metal bands all over the world. It´s not bad to change the style; heavy-metal music is evolutioning everyday. Personally, I prefer the Glenn Tipton´s style.

  • JUDAS PRIEST WIN!!!

  • KK, because of his pimp-hat in the first video.

Seriously, it's like choosing between your left and right arm: Impossible.

  • Comment removed

  • there is no KK Downing vs Glenn Tipton .. there's only KK + Glenn .. that's how they should be remembered

  • doesn't matter witch of them but what is important GLENN,KK,SCHENKER,ULI JON ROTH were beasts in the second half of the 70's all those thrash bands tried to be like them. Big influences sorry for my english :d

  • Glenn Tipton.

  • Both awesome guitarists, but if I had to choose one, it have to be would be KK Downing.

  • both are good. Judas Priest is a great a band and you can;'t say which guitar player in this band is good. You don't have the right to do that. In a band all members are good, even guitar players.

Don't make the difference between K.K. and Glenn. They are great players. Don't make difference between guitar players

  • like 75% of people that just said "glenn" or "glenn its better" those guys just know painkiller -.-

  • why are people saying that k.k its just a "flashy player" why? just because the only solo that "you" know from judas its painkiller? flashy you ass dude, seriously, judas priest its recognized for those legendary solo duels, as the sentinel, metal meltdown, ram it down, and obviously those "individual" solos, i know that glenn have more solos than k.k but that doesnt mean he is better, K.K =Epic heavy solos; glenn = Epic passional solos

    just enjoy both players!

  • Glenn's my favorite, but KK can shred when he wants to

  • To everyone saying "KK Is Judas Priest"

He isn't the only one. KK, Glenn, and Halford were the primary writers of all the Judas Priest songs.

KK Is more of a "flashy" player, using the wah, whammy bar, and effects a lot, and playing very fast.

Glenn is more musical. Using mostly just a chorus effect, and is more melodic and just tries to play note-for-note and precise as possible.

  • I think the winner is Judas Priest

  • K.K. play with hendrix and Blacmore's style, he's a man

  • I hate those little bastards they say Faulkner is better than KK.

Are you guys Crazy. KK Down kill Glenn Tipton and Ritchie Faulkner ! END !!!!

KK are the Judas's Priest. And he had retired from the band.

NO JUDAS WHITOUT THEIR PRIEST !!!!!!!

  • Glenn Tipton is better than K.K Downing

  • tipton kills kk in sweep picking and superior at phrasing but KK IS Judas Priest

  • I like glenn tipton but I also like KK, but who is better,

There's only one way to find out! FIGHHHTTTT!

  • I think 8:59 to 9:36 says it all: they're at their best together... or at least were

  • Gomelo xD !

  • its weird seeing priest in the early 70s

  • Kks is more driven by hard power and crazy exciting noises

  • When tipton does it... It feels like the guitar is tellibg its story, its verse of the song. Theres just a diffrnt connection between the two

  • Glenn, but love em both

  • The Irresistible Force vs. the Immovable Object. Two absolute guitargods, who's to say who is better? But for me personally, KK Downing has always represented an ideal very few others can approach. Glenn is one of them......

  • Tipton

  • Glenn has overall emotional solos.. but once in a while, KK just small REALLY emotional lick.. So I gotta go with..

    Both.

  • Love them both but KK only has one solo style (although still a superb guitarist) Tipton is a naturally flowing lead guitarist and therefore can come in from all angles, well that that is my modest opinion anyway.

  • glenn puts the work in

  • Technically Glen. Astheticly KK. Both superb.

  • There's no comparison it's 50/50=100 percent molten metal.

  • Could someone tell me what are KK's at 2:00 and Glenn's at 3:40 solos?

  • @rax989 kks was sinner and glenns was freewheel burning

  • @nucleardude11 Thanks!

  • Wow, Blackfender100 got both top posts, He's my hero!

  • I always thought Tipton was better, but then I saw this video!.. /watch?v=kANgLXKrTP0&feature=related Absolutely amazing! The one thing we can agree on is that they're likely among the best guitar duo's in history

  • both awesome, but tiptons kick ass sweep arpeggios on painkiller gives him the edge in my book

  • Tipton is one of the best for sure!!

  • Guess I'll say Tipton, 'cause Downing retired, :) They both kick ass and make the band perfect with their two styles added into the mix. Very sadface that Downing, left, Im going to see them in 3 weeks in Denver. New guy seems cool, but I would have loved to see the classic line up.

  • Tipton for me. KK's good too, but to me, he's more of a rhythm guitarist that can play the occasional lead. I'm not really fond of his whoring of tremolo picking and tapping(much like I don't like Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King's solos either). Both write awesome riffs and songs though

  • What do you like most: Coke or Pepsi?

  • @MrRafaelBCK fucken poison jeje

  • they are a duo

  • what's name of the song from 4:01?? thanks

  • @m4kub3x88 Freewheel Burning from their 1984 album Defenders Of The Faith.

  • whats the name of the song from 8:23 till the end??? thanks

  • @GriederM1 The song is Hellrider, from "Angel of Retribution" album. Masterpiece.

  • what the name of the song 8:23 - end ????

  • Wait a minute did i see ian pluckin bass??

  • dumb question. they're both better than each other. thats why every album was better than the last even though each album (before Tim "ripper" Owens he can suck a dick]) was amazing. these guys are why i am a musician! best metal band.

  • @wickedwizardofspeed you should be bowing at the rippers feet for that comment

  • @kcupriest if your talking about tim ripper owens i stand by my comment. he's dogshit compared to Halford. i didn't see any live footage with his music in this video.

  • They are both wonderful guitarists that few can emulate, both have wonderful individuale techniques and unlike so many are able to play metal with soul , emotioin and incredible phrasing. Not just run up and down the same scale regardless, and then put a few bends in here and there.

  • I'm going with kk come on people the the rage great song but kk did the solo by himself and it made a great song better!

  • im going to say glenn tie breaker is hellbent for leather

  • There both fucking amazing END OF.

  • I listened to priest since 1980, there never was a comparison.

  • tebaroski, the man who does the solo is Gleen Tipton. It's "electric eye", from Screaming for Vengeance.

    .

    .

To the first question, I think that KK was very good, but Foulkner is better (I think)

  • @The2pibito thanks

  • what a stupid question

  • from which song is the solo KK does at 1:30

  • @tebarovski That song is "Deceiver", track 4 off of Priest's 1976 album, "Sad Wings Of Destiny".

  • @tebarovski Electric eye

  • YEAH!!! The solo from "Hellrider"!!

  • This is assholish. No way im voting on this ..PRIEST!!!

  • The best two man combo guitarists in one band ever in my opinion! I would Have to say Glenn Tipton is my Fav but KK is Kicks it also.

  • The best two man combo guitarists in one band ever in my opinion!

  • @blackfender100 They were good and up there, but I don't think they were as good as the combination of Brian Robertson and Scott Gorman in Thin Lizzy..

  • Glenn Tipton!

  • @Sokol1378 Agreed!, fuck slash!.

  • what's the first solo?

  • @nixa666 it is "Dreamer Deceiver"

  • GLENN

  • They are both amazing guitarists, but Glenn Tipton is my guitar god !

  • you want heavy , check out Priests cover of johnny b goode, thats is some sick KK TIPTON duetting at its finest

  • KK solo on Beyond realms the of death is amaizing! Just saw them live, Richie totaly blew that solo up, it was just soul less. Although he nailed Judas is Rising solo, he played maybe even better than KK would....

  • The greatest guitar duelists in history. It's absolutely absurd how good they both are.

  • en el video de la cancion hellraider de budokan japon, se ve realmente quien es quien, KK se lleva de calle a tipton.... lo que pasa es que tipton acapara solos. chequenlo completo y veran cabrones.

  • I like the both of them they both class and up there with the best but I do favour Glenn Tiptons solo's although I think K.K is as Quick as anyone including Kirk Hammett

  • They are the most influential dual lead guitarists of all time!

But if I had to pick, I say Glenn because he makes it look effortless.

  • ive seen this band three times. ive listened to there music for many years. i appreciate both guitarists but KK has a grove all his own. you can not deny that. METAL RULES!!!!

  • if i was to die and go to the other world and had a choice of who i was going to listen to 24/7 1440 minutes of the day , 86400 seconds of the day i would say KK

  • well glenn has soul and really is connected with the music, kk can just play notes. i say glenn

  • @anonymousme99 Agree, Glenn is the technical heart and soul of the band, without HIM, it really can't be the same, even Rob was nearly eclipsed by ripper.

  • Equally as good and thats made this band unique and one fo the best!!

  • Rob Halford looks all like Anton Levay midway through this vid. Creeps me out.

  • Both are awesome! You know, you don't have to as fast as Malmsteen or Becker to be a good guitarist, for me, Judas has AWESOME Heavy Metal solos.

  • son un equipo no enemigos

  • that is not Rob with long hair is it?

  • @ericcarr21

Yep Rob used to have long hair, he has gone thru many styles.

  • I love how their styles feed off each other and bring balance to their songs. Glenn is more technical whereas KK is more bluesy with a lot of soul in his playing. Too bad KK isn't on the final tour. I'm sure they'll get someone great to fill in though. I had the pleasure of seeing Priest live twice already, I really hope to again for a 3rd time!

  • @ricerhunter9 Yeah this is supposed to be their last major world tour, but I've also heard rumor that they're writing new material for a final studio album

  • @ricerhunter9 Why cus they have Richie Faulkner now? Fuck that pansy he ain't got shit on Downing. JP will never be the same again! It's like when Iron Maiden recruited Blaze Bayley only it's probably worse cus Downing doesn't plan on coming back

  • they are both great because they play in the same band, i also like ian's bassline..in that period he used to play without a pick

  • Comment removed

  • Now...this will only be a memory...farewell KK !

  • What is the first song title? which is the guitar solo..

  • @ScapTube dreamer deceiver

  • ILIKE THEM BOTH EQUALLY IM SORRY THAT KK LEFT .. I SAW THEM MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES . WHAT A GREAT CHEMESTRY'. THATS WHAT IT ABOUT

NOT, WHO'S BETTER.THE GUYSARE AWSOME ,WHY BITCH SLAP EITHER ONE.

  • KK's all fast twiddling and wanging the bar, Glenn can do that but has a clearer sense of melody and how to put the pieces together so they add up to something and take you on a journey

  • Many years ago my

  • Many years ago me and my were compared to KK and Glen

  • the guitar gods.couldn't say which is better, but absolutely they are the best metal guitarists of all time, hands down.thanks K.K

  • Praise Thee METAL GODS!!

  • WE'LL MISS YOU KK!

Please come back someday! What a legend! Bless Judas Priest! One of the most consistent heavy metal band ever.

  • @AnasAlex10 KK had been having health issues for quite some time, and he lost his dear friend

Gary Moore to a heart attack.Guess he felt it was time to call it a career.Take care KK,we're waiting

    for the bio/book tour!

  • KK's speed and sheer aggression is simply amazing... Glenn's melody and style is utterly enthralling. They're both masters of the guitar in different respects, and nobody --at least to me-will replace KK as Judas Priest's epic shredder

  • @HailBlazR69 I LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE...ROCK N ROLL FOREVER

  • You mean there were guitarists in this? I was paying too much attention to the vocalist. ;0)

  • Never say never! KK and Glenn must duo headbang for the Priest faithful

    ONE FINAL TIME!

  • Why KK!!!!??? Im so pissed, I wanted to see your epic guitar playing on the final tour. oh well....

  • Whats the song at 5:05? Right after judas is rising

KK cant be serious :( he just cant :(

  • @noretornable55 oh beyond the realms of death

  • @noretornable55 Beyond the realms of death, come on? You can't know this song!?

  • Why KK? My God above men! Why? My mentor is gone away.

  • I think KK will regret not doing the farewell tour !!!!,they should all come back to the table and accommodate each other for one last time,42 years is a long time,to let it go sour !!!

  • DOWNING/TIPTON

  • I hate to say this but I fear K.K. may be ill. I hope not. Love him so much.

  • @GypsyFairy85

My fear too. So unexplainable to leave the band just before the last tour... or perhaps a big "Oasis like" argument, (but I hardly imagine this between 60 y o clever guys as they are). Anyway good luck to this Richie Faulkner, but it won't be the same.

  • @chalynx2a

No it won't be the same, I just hope whatever it is, that he will come through alright. K.K. is a tough little guy.

  • @GypsyFairy85

he is in good health just management problems

  • @ArthurDowning

    I sincerely hope so.

  • @GypsyFairy85 He is,i read it on the House of Hair newsletter, i don't care if he ever plays

with Priest again,we've lost too many guitar heroes. His place in history is assured.Take care

    KK

  • So long KK....you will be missed.

  • i dont understand he just couldnt wait to stay for one more year to finish the farewell tour ?when he spent almost 43 years in body and spirit to judas priest ,im mad at these guys bringing a fucking loser to replace kk downing wtf?wtf?wtf?

  • Greatest metal guitar duo ever. Just heard KK retired...he will never be replaced!

  • I Think the both are great, K.K Downig its the guy that makes the guitar scream and Tipton,s solos are more melodic, I prefer Tipton in my opinion, anyway they are the metal gods , this is real music and the spirit of metal |m|

  • The great thing about KK and Glenn is that they are both willing to play rhythm to each others' leads and both to play lead without ctrying to out do the other. A real guitar partnership.

  • naaaa!!! K.K. DOWNING AND GLENN TIPTON... ARE THE FUCKING MASTERS!!...

just a fucking inspiration for us... UP THE PRIEST!!!

  • Both!!!

  • KK Downing rocks!

  • That`s what we call "real stars"!

  • 2 of the 5 best axes of metal...so nobody is better than the other...

  • Glenn its so much better than KK, but KK`s between the hammer and the anvil solo was awesome

  • Answering this question to me it's nonsense, like "who do you love the most, mummy or daddy?"

  • both are great, but together are terrific

  • @bobmarleyisgod1 lol !? Electric eye.

  • DOWNING/TIPTON

  • Both.

  • @bobmarleyisgod1 Yes you have it is "Electric eye" from '82.

  • Asking "which is better" is missing the point. Tipton is the craftsman: meticulous, melodic, technical. Downing is the wild man: aggressive, chaotic, on the knife's edge of being out of control and no slouch when it comes to the technical wizardry, either. Together, they form the greatest two-headed, three-pronged green manalishi ever unleased on this plane of existence.

  • I love them both, but based on Glenn's solo on the song Painkiller, I'd have to go with Glenn.

  • they both rip. glenn is great, kk is great. done.

  • Glenn Tipton has always been my personal favorite; a favorite top guitarist of all time: beautiful, melodic riffs. But what would Judas be without K.K.? That evil, screaming guitar is toooooooo baaaaaaddd aaaaaaasssssss! Stroke me AND whammy bar me, baby, I like it both ways!

  • Glenn Tipton.

  • excelente judas priest komo siempre¡¡¡

  • Glenn is technically better and does the more complicated solos. KK has a more sloppy, bluesy style to his leads, which requires a lot of practice in its own right. Both guitarists have repeatedly stated that they'd be lost without each other and the rest of the band, so it doesn't matter which one is "better" than the other at leads.

Let's not forget an important thing: Priest is well known for their leads, but it's their rhythms that define them as living legends.

  • Glenn's solos are more classical and theoretically great, KK's are more well-structured and rock oriented. Its a tie.

  • There is no vs. to me....just the best guitar duo ever!

  • best guitar players of the wolrd no doubt

  • Both guitarist has own styles but I ın my view Glenn has a wider range of sound and technique even if he has started playing guitar at a age of 19 !!!! He just amazing...And also Judas too so original and kick ass melodic call whatever you want they are just Metal Gods...

  • the begining isnt this like when they had the origional singer?

  • @crazyiskeith is halford in all videos

  • Can some1 please name all the solos ?? There r a few I wanna learn!! Plz any type of help will be appreciated!

  • there is no Glenn vs KK .. there is only Glenn & KK

  • there are no reason, in my very poor english, to compare each other.

Glenn and K.K. were the heaviest influences for lots and lots of today´s musicians, so, they have the enough power, knowledge, technical, speed, and feeling, to be, again, compared between...... even I preffer one of those, both together were the most powerfull couple ver had on the rock scene worldwide.!! I really am in love with Judas..!!

  • KK Downing & Glenn Tipton vs. Dave Murray & Adrian Smith.

Thumbs up if you want to see this video.

  • I think these guys are the reason JP has endured for so long. If one of them left and another were to replace him, it just wouldn't be the same because their styles compliment each other so well.

  • @Pr0fess0rSasquatch hahaha you predicted the future

  • Dam dude look at Robs HAIR
