i think the McDonald Douglas/ BAE design which looked a lot like the YF-23 should have made it, it uses a similar lift system to the F-35 but features TVC...that design would be cool...and also mimick the YF-23 vs F-22 flyoff
I think x-32 is a gorgeous plane. It looks like a ufo or a spaceship! its so much different and unique than any other aircraft ive seen. Ok it seems that the designers exaggerated a little bit with the intake, but thats a minor compare to the whole thing. The x-35 looks like a really bad imitation of the f-22. Nothing on its design stands out, it looks so boring! Thats my opinion designwise dunno the capabilities of those 2 aircraft.
This plane is smaller and more agile than the f-35, maily due to its thrust vector like the f-22, also Boeing did a genius job at making the plane at half projected cost, and the A and C models having the same airframe. However, the vertical landing approach and small payload ruined it. It's a great plane nonetheless, and the Boeing team deserves nothing but praises.
the X-32 looks smooth and aerodynamic but it also looks bulky and heavy and it doesnt look too stealthy.I used to like this plane, but now i like the F-35 due to its sharper looks and much smaller radar cross section than the X-32
Are you sure, because I'm pretty sure that the x-32 has a smaller radar cross section than f-35. Not to mention that it's more agile than f-35, due to its thrust vector and unstable airframe. Just because it look bulkier, doesn't mean it's less stealthy, mate!
Definately glad that Lockheed-Martin won the competition. This reminds me too much of the F-117 Nighthawk. Not saying that the Nighthawk's a bad plane, but if we needed another plane like that, we'd just use the Nighthawk. The LM F-35 is a superior model.
While the project did not win the war, many battles where overcome. I believe the execution and overall blend of ideas that culminated in the project should have led to its success, its shape was its light and darkness. I believe the aurora program was awarded to bowing and based off this design because it could easily be adapted to a tail fin-less configuration, and the lines are similar.
looks ugly anyone agree?
the F-35 Lightning II (JSF) looks betterr

Yeah, i dont understand why people say that X-32 looks ugly. F-35 and F-22 are both very boring looking fighters...

im glad we took the X-35.. because the 32 doesnt even look like an american fighter... its like WTF is that

@Insaneduude Not really reminds me of the Corsair II/Crusader series

it would have won if not for the shitty harrier lift technology.
poiuytrewq415 4 years ago
It might be a great fighter, but the design was ruined by the vertical lift accommodations. It honestly looks like fat, ugly.....something.
legr8est1234 4 years ago
it just might be more stealthy than it looks. Though I wouldn't bet on it.
The bulky part below the main fuselage looks like an air intake. In the traditional spot, big surprise for Boeing (not).

if i went up against that in combat i would just start laughing. they got the lifting mechanism down but the airframe is ugly as hell.

Well I can see why we took to X-35 over that. Thing looks like a whale and its radar signature must be more than the X-35 even with RAM on it.

boeing usually makes a good looking plane but this is well... its different *cough* ugliest thing i've ever seen *cough*

It´s just me or this plane looks as a sunrising fat rat farting???
The technology in this crap is just an evolution of that of the Bae Harrier...Both Boeing and Bae had developed that X32 engine sistemes.
