Crows are pretty intelligent animals. They never felt threatened by the cat (otherwise they'd just fly away).

Could they have killed it? Perhaps by trying to knock it off the tree with effort, but the cat probably would survive. Over a long period of time if they wanted to, they could kill it by exhausting it if they had more crows with them. But I don't think they could ever do it 2 on 1.

Plus they're scavengers primarily. They're not strong or motivated enough to kill cats, even in groups.

the crows are just playing with the cat they bored birds so they see the opportunity to have some fun. There is no way they can kill that cat (1). they would alot more than two crows to kill the cat.( 2) its not in there instinct( 3) the cat would tear those birds up into pieces. This is not "diturbed" - this is very normal crow behavior, they just like to play! They are very intelligent animals. Just recently 3 or 4 of them were following my dog and chasing him a little. He is a huge Labrador, so they were definitely not trying to "hunt" him! ;))

There's a better way. My dad made a neat little contraption - basically it's a long-handled metal hammer, held up by a little latch attached to an electromagnet.

When you touch two wires inside the house, the hammer comes straight down to strike a starting-gun cap.

It's been years since we had an opportunity to use it, and the neighbour's cat hasn't been back since.

Crows are extremely smart birds. I once saw an animal program on TV where a falcon had captured a crow. He had the crow pinned to the ground, but his buddies and there must have been dozens were all around the falcon harrassing him so much that he finally released his "prey." They seem to have a pack mentality and help each other. Very, very smart birds!

cleanmills, two crows vs. cat = the crows win. I seen it happen before. I've seen two crows attack a dog and when the dog goes after one crow, the other pecks him from behind. After about 8 or 9 minutes, the dog was exhausted looking for shelter. The relentless crows kept dive bombing the dog, we had to save the doomed pooch!
