Oh isaf60,you are wicket giving us NO Jazz nuts such nostalgic beautiful music, just listen to that fantastic clarinet by Monty,in my view the best there's been.YES...super stuff we loved and enjoyed but don't forget there's still lots of brilliant bands and musicians out there we must support individually and of course our super Jazz festivals such as BUDE,UPTON ON SEVERN,LYME REGIS,SWANAGE, AND SEVERAL UP NORTH,Not forgetting the residential Jazz Weekend Specials at Minehead.SUPPORT & ENJOY!!!
I saw this very talented bunch in Exeter one night in the mid 50,s. After several encores we tried locking the doors but they still escaped. A night I shall never forget, twas a proper job!
My dad was one of Chris biggest fan in the Netherlands, Chris performed in Ossendrecht were my dad was in the army and he never missed a concert since then, must have been around "53/"54
I am old enough to remember what you depict and I still have the LP "Jazz Sacred and Secular", One of my favourites from it is "Take My Hand Precious Lord".
What memories! Young, lonely and far from home late one night I listened to KTSA (the Scotch Plaid Top 40) as they played for the first time on their station 'Petite Fleur'. I was hooked from then on. God Bless Chris Barber and his Band and may they be a joy forever.
Very nostalgic,to the point of being painful,in a bitter-sweet way. When we ruled the town...and girls glanced lovlier as the air grew dim. Is it that we are dying...? where are those clear cold winter skies....and
those sharply cut vapour trails....like a diamond etched on glass. The best is over.
I was a regular at the White Hart pub in Southall to listen to CB and his band. Remember Otterlie Patterson who could sing like Bessie Smith. Sorry to say we always took advantage of Lonnie Donegan's skiffle sessions to get to the bar and then take cover in the gents toilet!

No, I can't shimmy like my sister Kate. It's all about power and influence ultimately. Kate, you see, is unable to pull the many
strings that remain at my disposal. Unfotunately, there's nothing attached to them
anymore.

Does this mean you can't still shimmy like your sister Kate?

I wonder if Chris and friends have seen this? Thanks!

I imagine they have -- the slide shows are on the Barber website (which I manage), and I know that most of the band visit quite frequently.
