We (japanese) have, and that is why this anime is not about the japanese empire succeeding world domination from the help of mirai. Its about the realization of the true horror of war for peace-loving japanese that has never experienced combat. Zipang depicts the mentality and the commitment needed in a war, and Japan even though having one of the most advanced military, currently does not have such mentality.

Yes exactly. I realize that if Japan had somehow won WWII, they would have turned this earth into Shit hole. Despite that, there were crews on mirai who wanted to help the Japanese in the beginning because of their national pride. They had to resist that, and have stronger will to save humanity more than to choose to fight along one side. That is why we see Mirai intercept Yamato's direct attack on US army.

I dont think Axis would won WWII it would be impossible because Allies were too strong for that such thing as invasion of USA would never happen but probaly cold war would folow and we probaly would still be living in one so? Show me a government that does things the way the people think they should be done. The only one I know of that comes close it Switzerland. And maybe a few other European Countries. 037kondo: Actually, I don't think The Final Countdown was pointless. The Final Countdown brought the Nimitz back to before Pearl Harbor, and in many cases they still had tough decisions to make. After all, the Nimitz could have prevented Pearl Harbor very easily.

Compared to Zipang, the real downfall of The Final Countdown was that it was made as a movie, so the whole event was brief compared to the Mirai's time travel experience. Not enough time for the same kind of depth, which is a pity.
