  • Based off these comments, I'm definitely in the minority, because although I like MJ as much as the next person, I came here to listen to Phyllis Hyman sing. lol

  • I never thought i'd look up an old lotion commercial cause of MJ. Aw the crazy things that man makes us do.

  • These Bain de Solei ads were rather racy when they aired. The guys loved 'em. Nearly soft-core.

  • @melotone Soft core? She keeps her bikini on and I doubt it's even a g-string at all!

  • i am here because of MJ <3

  • LOL I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO LOOKED IT UP B/C OF MICHAEL JACKSON!!!

  • lol Yes, Michael motivated me to get up and search this commercial lmao xD

Noone else would make me do this, let me tell you :3 XD

  • Hell yea! I watched this commercial because of Michael Jackson singing it in that clip with him and karen faye hanging out in the trailer!!! I love him so much! Anything Michael does or says I am interested in!

  • Wow... I felt special for finding this. THEN I read the comments. *sigh* love you Michael.

  • what is she singing??

  • yep watched it because of the michael jackson video, guilty as charged

  • This woman is so truly beautiful, what is her name?

  • Great tan, but she looks almost unhealthily skinny. I guess the message here is the way to look sexy is get a tan and only eat food if you're gonna puke it up afterwards.

  • Hahaha Bain de soleil !! xD

    Reminds me of Michael <3

  • roflmaooo who hasn't watched this because of michael?? XD

  • Omg I thought I was the only one who watched this because of mj LMAO

  • No wonder why MJ was singing this... There was a pretty woman in a bikini in the commercial...U GOTTA LOVE HIM! HAHA

  • The woman who sang the jingle for this commercial was Phyllis Hyman, a truly gifted singer who left us too soon...

  • I love hearing Michael Jackson sing this commercial and trying to find out who sings it!!! He even called the station himself to see! He's adorable. I miss him!

  • lool this always reminds me of MJ coz I heard him singing it

  • lol - I prefer MJ's version ;)

  • @jussybasi I also prefer MJ's version. Michael is divine when he sings that little part!!!!

  • @jussybasi yes mj sung it perfect ugh he can sell that product with out making a commercial for it i looove me some michael :)

  • lol, does michael jackson say he loves this commercial in the behind the scenes thing?

  • @RookyToook LOL yes...yes he does!!!! when i found out he liked it i had to find it lol

  • You can hear the original radio version of Bain De Soleil by going to my website "irwinfinger" and clicking on "free songs"

  • yep that was what i was doing in high school in 1987.. frying myself by the pool with bds orange gelee..but it sure is expensive to remove all that not-so-sexy sun damage nowadays!!

  • Ahh the days when a 4 SPF was considered extreme sun protection.

  • This is not the original version. The original jingle had an acoustic guitar, piano, percussion, and bass. The singer was Arlene Martell. I should know. I played guitar on the original version and composed the jingle.

  • @Irwinfinger

puit the radio commericla from 1987-1980 on youtube if you made it.

  • @The096757

i meant to say the version from 1978 to 1980 that had the cool sound. this 1987 commericial is not good.

  • awesome!!!

  • If this is true, that was a hauntingly beautiful jingle. Great job. I still remember the tropical feel of the music. In the 60's, right?

  • I knew I wasn't crazy! And I got one hell of a sharp memory! All of you who wrote here remember exactly what I do! I LOVED that Music SO much!

I was only two at the time of that run for that version of the commercial and yes it's summer again and we all remember how this seasonal commercial would turn up. It was a very sexy commercial too; ( My dad dug it) you'd see it on durring Kung Fu repeats back in 1980 on the weekends. Somebody please find that version in your old stacks of videos!

  • @moxie96

i only heard the commercial on the radip and it had gorgeous music with a woman calling it a "lush french formula" and the radio commercial was aired from 1978 to about 1981 and i never heard it again.

    totally dreamy music and voice.

  • The original version from the mid 1970's is still the best. It had a piano and drums intro and then the sexy double-tracked singing started. This version was later edited with other narations dubbed over it. You knew summer was near when you heard this on the airwaves - great memories!

  • @dvcomo

if you have the song for this suntan lotion that was aired on the radio from 1978 to about 1981 put it up on youtube.. i loved that dreamy commericial and the sound of the woman who sang it.

  • OMG I LOVE this ad, tres chic et tres intenationale, and just now to find out its the late great PHYLISS HYMAN , makes me love it even more

  • OMG! My best friend and me used to sing this theme all the time. "Ban de SOLAYYYYYY for the San Tropay tan..." we had no idea what we were singing.

  • Yeah, nuggiepup, I agree. I like women in their natural state, wahtever that may be.

  • You can tell this commercial was made before the time of plastic women, when it wasn't a prerequisite to have implants before you could be considered sexy.

  • Me too! Childhood memories of being in the pool with the radio going... and I agree... the original singer of the Bain de Soleil jingle was better. There used to be a clip here on YT that had that singing in a 1982 Bain de Soleil commercial but it has been pulled :(

  • the eyes...zee leeps and faice... and the melonama removal at the doctor 10 yrs later, and zee leathery skin

    tres sexy!

  • @sdjimbob ha ha ha haaaaa!

  • The singer of this commercial is Phyllis Hyman. She also did a Mastercard International commercial about this time that was awesome.

  • Thank you! I have been looking for this song -- yay!!

  • this is so weird, I just woke up with the song in my head and had to YouTube it

  • This brings back some memories!

  • the eyes...

    the LEEPS

    and face
