@mshtoob if you got the cash to spend, i personally would go for the D300s, and depending what photography you do the sigma 10-20mm wide angle is a cracker for landscapes, awesome set up this mate i tell you

@eladhawkins D90, video recording on a dslr in my opinion is not the same as a stand alone camcorder, but the D90 takes excellent pics for sure, cannot comment on quality from the D5000 as i have nevere owned it, hope this helps?

@tobearockstar0706 get the d90 yes, but if you can get body only and the sigma 10-20mm ultra wide angle, this lens is a awesome lens

Help me!! im goin to buy my first DSLR camera..i choose Nikon D90..my problem is i dont know what to buy.should i buy camera w/ 18-105mm VR lens kit? or i should only buy the camera w/out lens and buy the lenses separately instead? is buying the kit will save me a lots of money? what lenses should i buy perfect for D90? is the 18-105mm VR good enough? to give you an idea here in Korea u can buy the camera only for around 750$ and for the camera w/ 18-105mm VR lens kit around $1140.. pls HELP!!

1st dslr, get the d90 with the 105 kit lens, its a great all rounder to start with, trust me your pics will turn out great, and DO NOT FORGET the tripod

d90 is the best i sold it twice and today i ordered it again , i got last 3days the canon g10 and the pics wasnt sharp , when u take a pic and u zoom at it it gets so crappy , but not with d90

g10 i have also owned, it's ok as a point and shoot but does not have the quality of a dslr, nikon cameras are great looking cameras also as well as being a top top camera, i currently own the canon 50d but want to get back to nikon as soon as i can, d300s for me i think, then the d3x

Thats actually what Im trying to decide between the Nikon D90 & The Canon 50d... I'm no amateur photographer but decisions are still hard to make. And oddly enough half my friends are Canon fanatics and other half are Nikon... I love both and have held both these cameras. What do you think?

I have a d60. I also have a 18-55 vr and a 55-200 vr. Do you think it would be better to buy the d90 without the kit lens and keep my 18-55 and 55-200 or just pay 300 bucks more and get the 18-103 vr kit?

personally i do not like the kit lens that much, and it totally depends on what kind of photography you intend to shoot, i think though if it was me, i would sell all, and maybe buy the d90 and the sigma 10-20mm wide angle zoom lens, a real belter of a lens, this is what i would do personally and would have done recently as i was after selling my canon 50d and getting the new nikon d300s, i love that camera

i have sold my d90 as i thought it had too many features that i wasn't utilising, so i then bought a sony hx1 superzoom and that was a nice camera but i mis a dslr, so just sold that one too and now after either the canon 500d or the nikon d5000

I have the D90 and I'm going to be purchasing the Sony HX1 just for an easier camera to play with.

If you are going to get the D5000 make sure the serial number is 3114394 or above to avoid the recalled ones.

hey there spearmint, i am biased towards the canon 500d at the moment, appears not a lot of difference in specs compared to the nikon d90 to justify paying a lot of extra money, i am going to jessops tomorrow to check out a few models, so i will let you know how i get on and what i think

i think what it is with me i won't be doing a lot of shooting with the live view and i will want to be able to check my settings often, so i thnk the only way to do this sufficiently is to have a camera with a lcd screen on top

well as i just sold my d90 that won't be happening but i am gonna do another unboxing of the nikon d60, so basically i downgraded as the d90 was too much stuff on there for me and i would never use the video recording as i have a stand alone hd camcorder so that is rendered uselss to me, but will get this d60 unboxing done and then i'll do a review on it so keep a look out for it, stay cool man

thanks man really appreciate it, yes will do a review soon once i take some real good pics with it, the 1.8 fd 50mm lens is a must, the very first pic i took of my daughter came out with such a great shallow depth of field with a real blurry background, then on the camera i edited with a monochrome and it looks so good, will post as soon as i can
