This is the only one of their songs that I enjoy. I really don't like the band because, whether purposefully or not, they employ such a simple harmonic language and add in electronic effects to extrapolate their musical ideas (instead of expanding the ideas using more complex harmony). This song has more interesting harmony than most of their others.

I think The Cure's influence comes through a little stronger on this on than most Xiu Xiu songs. But that's not to say it's in any way an imitation-- something I couldn't say for a lot of other bands. Xiu Xiu fills a special and unique niche in modern music, and I hope it stays that way.
