  • i wonder why we identify with objects? This lady said that if he would trash this toy, she'd feel as if he didn't care about HER - as it's same thing... I noticed I keep stuff to fight loneliness. How pathetic is that... :-( with getting weight it's similar, like if I'm afraid to dissapear, completely forgotten... forgive me my confessions here, write something if you can...

  • Some of these hoarders just need a good ass whipping

  • @andy62785 hahah yee good ol fashion beatdown

  • If i were one of her family, I would throw out the entire trash she is is away.

  • lmao XD!!!

  • it's a freakin court jester doll for christ's sake: it's not life or death! *smh*

  • What's the opposite of hoarding? I throw out everything.

  • @rebeccaannhay Minimalism.

  • OH! I FORGOT, IF YOU TAKE ANYTHING FROM A HOARDERS HOUSE, BELIEVE ME THEY WILL KNOW...AND WHO WOULD EVER THINK THEY SUFFER FROM THIS DISORDER WHEN THEY LOOK WELL GROOMED AND NEATLY DRESSED. WHO WOULD EVER THINK THEY LIVE IN THESE MALFUNCTIONING CONDITIONS, I GUESS NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER...I ALWAYS PRAY TO GOD THAT I NEVER EVER GET 2 THIS POINT. NOT ALLOWING NOBODY 2 VISIT ME, IT BECOMES HARD AND A LONELY JOURNEY TO ACCEPT. THANK U 4SHOWING THIS DOCUMENT, IT'S NOT LAZINESS,IT'S LOSING!

  • @agelessgia got gum stuck under your shift button?

  • THIS IS A PROBLEM IN SOME PEOPLES LIVES, IT'S HARD TO LET GO! TO OVERCOME THIS FEAR OF LETTING GO IS UNBELIEVABLE. MANY OF THESE PEOPLE WHO SUFFER FROM *THE DISPOSABLE DISORDER* WHICH I WOULD NAME, MUST'VE HAD A TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE IN THEIR LIFE TIME OF SOME SORT. BELIEVE ME I KNOW! A BIG LOSS THAT IS HARD TO OVERCOME, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HITS HARD IN THE HEART & BRAIN, IT SEEMS LIKE YOU FALL BACKWARDS OVER & OVER AGAIN. IT COULD TAKE UP TO YEARS 2 REALIZE U HAVE A PROBLEM! SHE'S SO HUMBLE:-(

  • i wish my mom didnt have this problem :(

  • @Crumble1105 find out what happened in mom's life that started the hoarding. Sometimes people hang onto things that remind them of an event, a person, a time in their life they didn't want to loose. Talk to her, and remind her you love her. Stuff can't give love back. Only people do that. Get her to let it go, and to clean her mind. Once her mind is clear, she can clean the house.

  • @DoUWanna007 good idea, thank you :DD

  • @Crumble1105 welcome. I know she will do much better, step by step. Once you identify where the problem lies and got started from, you can move on to remove the mess. Fear makes it real it people's heads. But fear does not exist. It's not real, but only in the person's head. Toss fear outside and don't let it come back. She'll make it and so will you:)

  • @DoUWanna007 yeah hope it works,

  • @DoUWanna007 yeah hope it works, thaaaanks :DDD

  • @Crumble1105 no doubt, but there is something there in her head that makes her want to keep this stuff, and not throw anything away.Keep working with her and she hopefully will come around.

  • wack wack crazy

  • these people are seriously ill, and they represent a serious threat to themselves and their surroundings. They have to be confined to a mental institution for treatment until they get better. There's no excuse for letting this happen and not do anyth about it

  • How many of these people had very poor depression era parents? When there was little, saving/hoarding odds & ends made sense. People had to be creative with whatever they could get. Now, we have an overabundance of stuff like junk mail flooding our homes both from social life and shopping fancies. Look no further than advertising and our consumer culture for the cause of this epidemic, but organizing one's home takes talent and foresight! We have to learn rollover inventory to manage our stuff.

  • Thank you hoarders everywhere! You inspire me to clean everytime I watch the show :-D

  • just because it wasn't expensive doesn't mean it's not important

  • just because it wasn't expensive doesn't mean it's not important

  • These people have too much time on her hands lol

  • Thumbs up if, after watching those hoarding shows, you immediately started going through your own junk in the garage or storage room looking for things to get rid of!

  • @alisher1984 Scared the crap out of me!!!

  • these people are legends!!! And there not mega fat!

  • ebay millionaires

  • Crazy bitch

    Goddam

  • All my possessions, including my clothes, fit into a suitcase. Lol!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=V6J4erbcdo8

  • when she says "that you don't care too much for me" is kinda true. i try to make use of anything anyone gives me.

  • i think scaring hoarders or threatening to throw their stuff away is no cure, it makes it worse.

these persons should be taken away from home for like 3-5 months, to live away in some other place on vacation. that way they'll enjoy themselves and will value new experiences and new stuff, and will learn that they can live without all the stuff they had back home. when they get back home they'll finally understand that life is more than just objects

  • @divacat80 ... no they will just accumulate stuff on vacation and bring back to pile on the other stuff they don't need. Its not a problem of geography - its emotional and mental disorder.

  • Im a minimalist, sooo I totally cannot relate, but I definitely understand I guess. It's really a sad sickness.

  • When i don't need something i throw it out....i had over 20 dvds that i didn't watch and i threw them out....i know they have a disease but to be honest i don't understand it.

  • @JonathanVonErich It's not a disease, but something in their brain that causes them to become emotionally attached to an object- Whether it be that it reminds them of how the sun shined that day, someone, or something. I have that problem but I try not to hoard, and a good way to manage it isn't through the doctors, but common sense. Organize and clean out what you KNOW is junk.

  • Poor thing! She just wants to be loved! She treats her things as nicely as she wants to be treated!

  • @CyberHarpie666 i guess that's the key to the problem... she might not even love herself the way she loves her stuff

  • @divacat80 I agree- sure is sad.

  • here's a solution, a can of gas and a pack of matches. burn all that garbage, let's see how much these maniacs really love their stuff.

  • Good grief! I could not live like this. Send them away to therapy and clean out their house.

  • That stuffed animal is obviously valuable to her although its a piece of junk. People throw you junk away dont climb over it. Especially old bent baseball cards and toy cars. that go vroom vroom.

  • this program is one of the only shows that's worth watching these days.... and that blond shrink is a hottie!

  • and i thought i had problems....

  • after watching each show weekly I throw out about 30 lbs of useless stuff.

  • @edesir i do the same, but you understand that you buy too much stuff then... right?

the solution is to stop living to buy stuff, we don't need 80% of the stuff we buy

just keep what's truly important and... always have the house clean and ready for new stuff, friends who come to visit and anyone who may come in

anything that hasn't been used for 2 years will probably never be used again so... why not donate it or pass it to someone who might need it?

  • @divacat80 I am soo aware that I buy too much stuff, rather then take a few minutes to look for a screwdriver, i'll drive to the local HomeDepot, buy another one and while i'm there get more tools I already have. Thanks for the advice, I will act on it. :)

  • @edesir

Start with your gut. quit eating fast food. You are what you eat. Most of these human turds have nothing but fast food wrappings all over their house..I think their is a connection.

    I call a vote.

Have hoarders register like sex offenders have too.

It like sex offending is toxic to the public.

I feel uneasy if I don't floss everyday. If I don't need something I will throw it away.

Cleaniness is next to Godliness, and you are what you eat. Amen

  • @edesir dido

  • yes shit doesn't work with them. One hoarder collected his shit in paint cans. eugh i feel sick.

  • I'd delete the "N" word from my profile before the TOS police respond to the flag on your profile.

  • The sad part about hoarding is that if you did that she might still want to keep it, she would say; "Oh Ill just wash it" and she will put it in a bag and set it aside.

  • fake and gay

  • No it is not a fake show. I know this family. her daughter use to babysit me when I was about 5years old. Her daughter is Annabeth Pool and I live about 2 miles from her mother. The location is in Enon.her house is right across from the Enon Gas station.

These ppl that hoard have a problem, they are sick, they cant help it.

  • @haleyjarrell fake and gay

  • @wompasdub

two camels in a tiny car

  • Good job giving away their personal information...

  • check out my video's...or go here for a cool site. tinyurl(dot)com/ygwu9mb

  • This show and "Addicted" are a direct ripoff of A&E's "Intervention" and "Hoarders" lineup.

  • @SomeRandomAhole I actually emailed tlc about it O_o it's really such bullshit

  • Where's Waldo?

  • There is not much you can do life..... you get scared, exhausted, etc... when you watch tv... everything is boring .

you have to throw away your life as soon as possible.

  • what if the only thing you threw away....was your life

  • I hoard paper...

  • if someone took away my ps3....................

  • omaigawd its march 14

  • in olden days, we wouldnt have problems like this on oprah, we would just send people to funny farms where they belong :).

  • @reboothater Amen to that.

  • i think they need to have a new documentary called I SHIT MYSELF. about people who shit themselves over the age of 18. it would be totaly fascinating. they could have hot models on, talking about how they shit thier panties. entertainment is bad, its even worse when people will defecate themselves to become entertainment.

  • LOL

  • I don't think he did a very good job of making his point!

  • I think hoarding is a genetic trait from ancient times when having strong anxiety and obsession for hoarding things was a desirable trait to survive. Now its not needed due to stronger social networking and trade.

  • It's not genetic. It's the same type of thing as eating disorders and other social disorders. These people just have some problems.

  • My grandmother has hoarding problems, and so does my mom. I think it could be at least partialy genetic or a higher risk. Like addiction or schizophrenia.

  • or maybe since your grandma raised your mom she developed some of her social disorders. It's not genetic.

  • There is genetic predisposition for those things as well. Same with depression ect.

  • I don't agree, you choose to be a slob or you don't. Just like this whole "genetic driving habits", give me a break.

  • Actually that makes sense to a degree. But a predisposition means you are at risk for it, easier to get. So it is very likely we are all predisposed to get something. I have a high predisposition to diabetes and depression because of my 0neg blood type and heritage. I have to eat an extremely low carb diet and exercise a lot more than most people to keep these things from happening. Hoarders have extreme anxiety if they are to let things go. If they are a simple slob then they are not a hoarder.

  • I agree that when it comes to the physical like cancer, diabetes and other physical related issues it can be genetic. But when it comes to social disorders like hoarding it's clearly your upbringing as oppose to genetics, meaning the person that raised you was a hoarder so you could possibly be a hoarder.

  • Anxiety, Depression and other "mental" problems are very physical. It has to do with a chemical imbalance in the brain. Hoarding is defined as an anxiety disorder. I dont produce endorphines as well without aggressive exercise, so i'm prone to depression if I dont do it as much.

  • I agree that depression, anxiety, etc will show it's presence, but it's the effect not the cause of the imbalance. If I'm feeling depressed I don't wait for my brain to change I make it change by thinking different thoughts.

  • Maybe these people don't have strong social networking skills?

I hoard a little (not much, really) and I find that I am usually one of the last to know about anything because my acquaintances don't share beneficial information with me that they do others in the circle.

  • Like a lot of problems, maybe every theory presented here is right sometimes? Maybe each suggestion explains why one or another person has a hoarding issue.

There are other possible causes - ADD (inability to complete a task such as cleaning), emotional attachment to things because of where/who they came from, etc.

And there is a difference between hoarding and cluttering. The short clip I saw looked like the home of an advanced clutterer, not a hoarder. Just MHO from what I've read.

  • I'm not sure society should be so quick to judge and label people with seemingly odd behaviors. Maybe they should be seen as having a special talent instead. I would think a museum archive specialist, or warehouse director is just like this.

  • @Probewitch Good observation but the problem is that she es emotionally attached to her stuff... raiding the question was she ever taught when she was a little girl the importance of sharing or giving up something that is not needed...

  • The problem here is that unlike a museum archive specialist, these people can't function. Their hoarding causes them daily distress and prevents them from living healthy and safe lives. We should be careful about judging people's odd behaviors, but when an odd behavior inhibits functioning, people need help.

  • How do these people spend money?...

  • I really wish we got tlc here in nz. My mother in law has this exact problem.

  • makes me really sad :( she cant help it!!!

  • lucky she is getting help.....

  • Glad she is getting help too. It must be hell for her to be the innocent victim of irrational thoughts. Good luck to her!

  • @CTFxCshaycarlphillyd i love your name:DD

  • @CTFxCshaycarlphillyd: Being a compulsive pack rat doesn't automatically make one an idiot. However, you yourself rather come off as an idiot for dismissing the problem like that.

  • i dismiss it cuz they re idiots
