I think that's the guitarist you're hearing; he's probably playing unisono with Abe. If you listen and watch closely: more at the end, the bass part is gone for a while, and at the very end Abe is suddenly playing a Fender Marcus Miller bass instead of his Yamaha. I'm sure it's all live. At the end of the bass solo halfway the song, some strange sounds come out of his bass, and he's looking at the pickups... one seems to have come loose.
