Even if you want to blame Owen for being so blind and so stupid, you can't because Owen was the sweetest guy and cared for other people and never meant any wrong to anybody. He was just lost and he is human, not the "Oh I screwed you over and purposely did horrible things to you but I'm not perfect, I'm only human" kinda shit.

It pains my heart that Lila and Owen never got together but at least they had a friendship and no one can take that away from them. Owen was always there for Lila and looked after her even if he did break her heart. Owen and Lila are star crossed lovers. When you think of it they were the two most tragic characters. Owen's family didn't give a shit about him, he had anger management issues and got expelled in the end. As for Lila she carried the burden of her mother's mental illness.
