  • is she supposed to shake her shoulders like?

thumps up tho for being graceful....

  • SanDiegoRoyalty please post up a video of you dancing so we can comment on the way you do dance lol. if you think you really know tahitian dancing and the proper way to do it then show us haha the girl in the video was superb

  • Auwe SanDiegoRoyalty, on the tip toes is the old school way of dancing...

  • Anybody know how she did her hair????

  • she is amazing!

  • trop beau, magnifique !!!!

  • Beautiful!! How is this song called???? Thanks

  • SanDiegoRoyalty...sorry to burst your bubble but her shaking her shoulders and legs apart is the old way of Tahitian dancing, te keeping still of the upper body was added later on in the years when the missionaries hit the islands to make it more graceful. You obviously didn't know that because you come from a long line of Hawaiins and Samoans..loL no offense, u should look into that tho,

  • Hi Cookie. It's good to hear some people still do Tahitian the tranditional and right way. You keep the tradition strong. Best wishes!

  • I come from a lineage of dancers (Hawaii, Samoa) and at no time wheather modern or ancient are your shoulder supposed to move. Also tip toes are a no no and is a way of cheating. Shoulders down, feet flat are what the real professionals do. This girl is has all the right tools to be a a great dancer. Perfect hair perfert body shape and excellent hips. However, has a lot of bad habits. And never walk into the next transition of movement. If she worked on these simple rules she can be the best!

  • @SanDiegoRoyalty

im cookie, and i went to Tahiti and ii come from a dance line too everything yuh said is how i wos grown up too so i soo agree buh tahiti people dance like that soo yeeah its beauty foah them hahr

  • bravo bravo..u one of the best believe me..

  • You guys still arguing? LOL

I think she's great! Dancing is an art. True art encourages freedom of expression. Jacqueline CLEARLY has the skill & talent. I do not doubt that she can steady her shoulders if she wanted to. But that was not the form she was expressing in this video. Thank you to those of you who shared little pieces of history in the subject of Tahitian Dance. I learn new stuff every day. ;)

  • Hi buddy, those things as you call them are flowers, the Tiare flower. That smells very good.

    TKU for your request

    TTM

  • what are those things in her hair???

  • @bgurlcryptik Those are Tiare Tahiti flowers, a type a gardenia and they smell so good.

  • @daisy752 ohhh. okay. Thanks for answering my question:))

  • WOW ive always thought Cook Island drumming rivaled that of Tahitian. But this drum technique is dynamite! Polynesian dance is so Hypnotic and when they dance you just cant help but stare as if caught in a spell

  • what the heck man ok titabrah you need to realize that that is how tahition people danced(it is concidered old style or tahito) Now there are many groups like hui tama nui that dance both contemperary and old style. go to a practice

  • love it. I prefer watching real tahitians dance coz they know what they're doing especially when they learn it.

  • I loved it. Tahitian dance is incredible.

  • i loved it!! totally took me back some years... nowadays, everyone seems to be so technical which is great... i remember watching videos as a little girl and like someone else said... raw movements, lots of passion... it's nice to see how dancing has evolved... it's also nice to see people being able to appreciate both styles of dancing, all styles of dancing anyway. great job! taking it back old school!

  • Sorry, too much shimmy on the shoulders, I agree. But she's workin' it....

  • @titabrah if you dont know tahitian dance, you shouldnt comment

  • she shakes her shoulders and stuff too much, other dent hat yeah i guess shes pretty good

  • WOW!!! She's AWESOME! I Can See How "she hails from a long line of beautiful and strong dancers" (phylesh) Beautiful, Just Beautiful!!!

  • Comment removed

  • She is very good! Have not seen dancing like that since Papeete and Moorea 1986 ... took me back to the islands for a minute. Wow!

  • Wow FUN DANCE.. Too bad people have to make everything theirs and fight about whats what fighting about nonesense. stop hattin!!

  • k i think its dumb how that person says people cant dance other cultures dances ok buddie its good that othe polyz wanna dance another polz dance ur just dumb thats all...its not that they wanna be them or anythings its just they exploring the ways of other poly cultures dumb ass....

  • yum

  • It's really stupid to dance someone elses cultures dance, I mean you can if its a sort of exercise, but as a hobby, were you dance for a dance group and perform everywhere when your not tahitian, geez, this is what I mean what is so offending of this! If God created everyone to be born to different cultures we should stick to our, and pass it down to our generations. Not copy someones own, thats why were different..OOOOOKKKKKKK

  • OMG...she is the best I've ever seen. Have to agree with the last 2 comments, this is the true tahitian dance and she has mad skills. It's so refreshing to see the real talent from a beautiful polynesian sister.

  • she is reall really good her dance is perfect in every way

  • she is reall really good

  • Too much movement in the shoulders, some parts were out of beat, the dance was not tidy but well done anyway.

  • sexy sexy sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She is pretty good but moves her sholders WAY too much. It would be better if she didn't shimmy her shoulders when doing fast shake.

  • @nanipodzi

who made you one official judge, especially since i don't think your tahitian huh! It is a style that she is doing.

  • Can she do that on a pole?? And how does that loincloth stay on her body??

    AMAZING!!

  • she can dance....

  • look ma one foot ...hahaha beutiful beutiful malie malie

  • was a bit too modern for me but shes very very good

  • Comment removed

  • Interesting that people think that this style of tamure is modern. In some of the first European settlers letters and journals it stated that there was vigorous movement in the hips and shoulders. And the style of dance was extremely crude and connotative. My great grandma told me once that this (videos) style of dance was what the ancients danced and that keeping your shoulders still was introduced to make the dance more graceful, tidy and acceptable to the missionaries.

  • @ Marikarere ..... I agree with you and your grandma!

  • I dont think you can define modern and old school any more.If you observe the Heiva dances over the years you will see how over the years it has slightly evolved-mixing the old with the new. The ancient style was lost-but the essence of tamure remains and that is all that matters, is that all was not lost.

  • @iWANTaCOOKIE234

actually it isn't probably the way you dance is though. This is very much so traditional. Do your research. You see polynesian told stories by dancing...now don't you see a story in that?

  • @yannahz7 erhmmmm this is my culture...... my family is very traditional in the way that all the girls are broght up to dance traditionally. i only thought it was modern because its become so sexualised

  • @iWANTaCOOKIE234 Right! well our ancestors did have sex before just to let you know but it was more for pro-creation for them, so the story can also be about sex. sorry i didn't mean to come off so harsh. Ya jus gottah understand and enjoy it ALL.

  • Wow that was absolutely amazing. Very beautiful!!

  • that was beautiful, i wish i could dance like that.

  • uuu

    maravillosa

    =P

  • Wow, absolutely breathtaking... She moves like a goddess.

  • Chee hoo! Beautiful! Makes me miss dancing so much. For all the critics, try just appreciating the diversity of style. Your and your kumu's way is not the only way.

  • Some people are so shallow..

    Her dancing was beautiful..

  • are you kidding me...........

  • compren pa cette danse , sa ve dire koi? sa bouge de partout...

  • I've seen many vahines dance like her, it's so refreshing. Not the ''I know it all'' up thight vibe I get from many ori dancers in the US! No wonder Nonahere has won the Heiva I Tahiti several times, besides O'TAHITI'E! mauruuru

  • best iv seen =)

  • haha. her shoulders ? legs ? thats the traditional way of tahitian dancing..they spreas their legs..everyone these days are used to the modern form..legs closed ! but this is wear TAHITIAN came from so iThink they know what theyre doing !! get it girl ! jacqueline !! haha. and abatayo808 is right..5 years in a row !! tahiti's famous group !!

  • Iaorana.

    traditional/classical steps are :

feet flat and knees closed, NEVER spread apart.

    Modern :

on toes and sometimes legs spread appart.

    That's the unique differences

    mauruuru

  • the vahine in this video is KILLING ME CUZ HER SHOULDERS ARE SO GOD AWFUL AND HER LEGS TO WIDE SPREAD APART. GET MORE TRAINING SISTA.......GOOD DRUMMING!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I do agree with xBabyDassWassup with her shoulders moving way to much, because its only suppose to be only the hips moving, but moreover she is a good dancer. Keep you the good work.

  • it is a tattoo

  • ha'u

  • Amazing

  • love the flowers in her hair

  • o.O EWW IS THAT HER FREAKING G-STRING?!! i pray thats a tattoo or something....

and yuck, her shoulders move hardout. ive never seen a youtube vid of a tahitian dancer at this level moving her shoulders so much. its just weeeird.

  • iKnow her. it is a tatoo by the way. and just to let you know Nonahere has been winning Heiva I Tahiti for the past five years in a row. so iGuess they must be doing something right nothing weird appearently

  • Where can I fine a Woman that could rock my boat like that, ohh, that right Taihiti..

    I need a vacation

  • lol - can I come?!!!

  • Oh Yea, you could come.Come on over

    let's go to Taihiti.

  • "Pasumecha" Cx

Mis respetos enserio, llegarás muy alto, bailas sensacional, y deveras me sorprendió mucho tu video, y la canción tambien, espero llegar a ser tan buena, como varias bailarinas que ya he visto, he he he, cuídense, hasta pronto.

    & Good Luck^^

  • you guys dont know shit abt tahitian dance man my grand mother is madeleine maua so yea

shes maybe telling a story so yea if you dont know historys of my cultures dont rite a comments thanx

  • she dances like our tahitians ancestors did...no offence but i really hate when some people talk about the way she should dance coz its gud to know how 2 dance but what "foreign" people know about the past of tahitian dance..n by da way it is called tahitian dance not cook island dance or something else...so plz respect her

  • Comment removed

  • @parautane i agree with you, i teach tahitian dance on kauai, and people love to comment on things i do. if they dont know tahitian dance they should educate them selves before speaking....what they see is the modern americanized dance

  • i love they way you dance!!!

i am glad to have gone to tahiti n see you there...and glad to have gotten to hangout with nonahere... hope to go there again...

  • baila hermoso!!!!! su estilo es muy bonito si jaquelin nos vemsos en mayo!!!!

  • shes good she should just close her legs and try not to move her shoulders as much. it looks a little crazy to me like too much in too little time

  • no i agree too.. she is amazing but she should keep her top half steady

  • the way we dance is the way

    the cookislanders dance

too huh ?? but in a different

    wat, a beautiful way =}

  • She represents Tahiti at its best from yester-year! she captures movement, feeling and attitude of how our mothers, grandmothers & great grandmothers would have performed! it is raw, contemporary, powerful, she hails from a long line of beautiful and strong dancers and not someone who thinks they just learnt how to dance today that they know it all! you can only have that gift and love for dance passed onto you thru blood, lineage & title!

  • Comment removed

  • que lindo!!!!!! estoy contigo

    your support!

  • sie. mauruuru=)

  • well, I agree, but not on the last part, that this can only be done if you're real tahitian, but well, people are alowed to think whatever they want...

  • Comment removed

  • wow! it tried doing this and bloody near threw my back out.....you go girl!

  • Dude! She hardly danced with her legs closed. l0l! I meant, with her feet together and kept moving her upper body(alot). But she had good moves!

  • whats the title of the drumming?

  • Cool dance,gets 5.

  • JACQUELINE!!!!

    she's such a beautiful dancer!

im so glad that i met her!

  • trop jolie ma soeur, toi hoa la vraie, t'adore, bisous

  • Trop beauuu

  • Thanks for came to mexico jaquelin

  • She isabsolutely gorgeous, but I do agree with you there. Her dance movement should have been more graceful and effortless. She was a bit too wild, almost showgirl style which is really not the Tahitian dance at all. It should be fast and seductive but also graceful and traditional, that's my opinion anyway. I could have done this type of movement just as easily as she's done it. She wasabsolutely grgeous from head to toe and so exotic but her dance move was kind of sloppy, sorry girl!

  • Two words: MEREANI TUMAHAI! :P

  • omgosh i love it ,its beautiful..

  • she is as good dancer as beautiful person! nonahere, thanks for came to mexico!! we love you jaqueline!!!

  • UUMM...ur suppos3 2 shak3 ur HIPS not ur entir3 bod...nd body rolling nd far apart legz c@n r3@lly look VULGAR

  • Drum Beats are AWESOME!

  • Hey you guys! you do not have idea what are you saying, she is great and her dancing too.

If she doesn't dance the way you like, doesn't mean that she's doing wrong, besides just for your information she dance with the Best school, Heiva's winner for the past 2 years (2006 & 2007).

  • trè jolie video et magnifique danseuse, aimerais voir video avant publication

    miss angel

  • not much control of her shoulders...it's not the best dancing, and i can't say it's decent either. while she's pretty, her dancing needs much improvement.

  • hey I think you're right. I would like to know (because I'm learning the dance) when she´s on the floor doing like waves with her body...it' fine or not? I've never seen before a dancer doing this....but well like I said I'm new with this.

  • yeah i think she did a good job when she got low and stuff. but her style just looks a bit sloppy here and there. i believe that the dancer should make it look effortless.

  • The drumming is AMAZING!!!

  • she has tiare's in her hair. lol

  • Oh please!!! this is what I excatly hate when people dance tahitian tamure:

when you dance a tahitian dance (tamure here) you have to move only you buttock (not all the body) and she has her legs too drawn aside (it's not good). Tamure have to be sensual and not vulgar like she does.

I am not inventing I am tahitian girl and I am practicing tahitian move since I am 4 years old.

  • i like the point you made.i am also a tahitian dnacer. what does Tamure mean? kind of lost one waht you mean? and I see what you mean on how she dances her whole body moves.

  • I agree. She lacks too much in technique. It looks dirty and all over the place, exactly for the reasons heinui mentioned: her shoulders move way too much and her legs are too far apart; the choreography looks messy and not much can be appreciated.

It looks like she just wanted to show off -- forgetting all technique with it.

  • i like the music..who playz that

  • that was alright, but her legs are TOO far apart nd she shakes ALL OVER

  • dancin is great, me luve the music though!!

  • Ctoi hoa la vré!!!

  • GREAT jOb NONAHERE!!
