  • Is my guitar out of tune or was this a slide blues in F? I would have been impressed hearing it in E. I know you just move everything up a fret but in F you have no open strings to play with, really.

  • Really really good playing. After 18 months of playing I'm only now going to try to learn a little slide. Can you tell me, is there a danger of damaging the neck if you don't have high action? I generally like low action and I sold my cheapo guitars and only have a few good guitars that I don't want to damage.

  • absolutely amazing!!!! Straight from the delta!!!

  • hi i was wondering if someone could really help me ive been playing slide for 6-8 months ive got 2-3 songs down but ive hit a wall i want to progress i can play slide but just from listening to the greats i have a slight understanding of music theory can anybody help with any information on websites or theory on slide it would be highly appreaciated. thanks andrew

  • Whats the name of this song?

  • great!

  • That's really excellent

    Really enjoyed it.

From the comments, it's in standard tuning, but I can't quite tell from the video, are you playing with pick and fingers together or just the pick by iteself?

  • is this in standard tuning Eadgbe? or like open E?

  • @fenderbuzzer it says Standard tunning in the title dumbass

  • That was really enjoyable man, thanks!!

  • so is standard tuning just : EBDgbe,

or is it something els with slide guitar?

  • Yes, it's just regular tuning.

  • @teunv111 standard tuning is always EADgbe, some peopel play slide in open tunings but standard will always be EADgbe

  • @teunv111 umm standard tunig is EADGBE

  • @teunv111 When anyone says standard they mean EADGBE, low to high

  • @teunv111 Well, actually, standard tuning is EADGbe...

  • one question, where did get the metal thing you have on your finger?

    Btw nice playing :)

  • It's a metal slide, you can buy them at any music store.

  • @al0102030405 to be honest i bought a nice glass slide and i found a socket that sounds awesome even better so go look for a big socket first

  • @nimthirielhime ... or you can just get a piece of pipe, a lipstick tube, a neck off of a beer bottle etc... That's what the original guys who invented this style of playing did.

  • Yes!! Now I have a project for the the few months. thanks bro, great stuff

  • my auntie gave me her slide a couple of weeks ago but i can't actually use it properly! wish i could play like that...

  • Totally awesome. I've been trying to teach myself slide in standard tuning (that's what I usually plai in) .

Everyone i know who plays slide always says "oh you gotta play in open"

Very encouraging. Great job. Where did you learn to play like that?

  • Don't down yourself ever again, my friend. This is awesome!!

  • im lovin it!

  • Awesome Man !!! - well cool, if you posted lessons I'd sure be one to follow and subscribe for sure - Cheerz

  • Finally a YouTube guitar player who is modest. Dude, you killed it!

  • it was good, but i bet it would be better with a glass slide. unless you like that equally nice tin sound.

  • good man you are awesome

  • thanks man realy helped

  • very very well done :D

  • sounds awesome man

  • sickkk

  • cool playing. what guitar is that? looks pretty old.

  • look at the mini ghost at the bottem of the of the vid

  • awesome sound.....playin is killer....i love it!!!!!

  • Not good enough to teach??? What a bunch of crap, this is awesome!

  • I play this but never heard it with a slide. Had to buy a slide. Thanks for posting.

  • Hi.. I have been playing this in standard tuning with 3rd fret capoed, however the tuning does not sound the same... It sounds like you have your guitar tuned in C ... Please confirm for me. I have played slide all my life . My grandmother taught me in open E style. Thanks again ..and great job.

  • Awesome. I was told not to play with a pick and not to play in standard tuning. Thanks for posting this, I'm going to put my guitar back into standard and find my pick!

  • Never let anyone tell you how to play, just do what works for you. They can suggest, but there are no musts that I know of.

    Thanks for commenting.

  • @al0102030405 No musts accept for accept for playing what you feel

  • @martinman87 You can play either way. The advantage of an open tuning (after you learn it) is that you can play chords with the slide. For instance, I have a guitar tuned to Open D Major. So, I can play Major triads up and down the neck just by putting the slide over the appropriate fret. Moreover, if I put a finger one fret behind (toward the nut) the slide on the 3rd string... magically, it's a minor triad. Of course, you action has to be high for that to work.

  • @martinman87 who told you not to play in standard tuning? I agree with not using a pick, everyone should learn fingerpicking at first, but I would think standard tuning is the best way to learn guitar...

  • tabs please..

  • No tabs. Watch and listen, I show how to do it.

  • I really liked this one. I have always wanted to try some sweet slide stuff but you are so right in saying that changing the tunings is a huge hassle. Well done.

  • Hey thanks, glad you liked it.

  • One of the best slide guitar vids! Keep it up

  • how do you make up the rhythem to that?

  • That's just a basic shuffle in E.

  • Thanks, yeah, it's just an old acoustic, there's no pickup in it.

  • awesome playing I got a question: are you playing an acoustic in this vid or electric acoustic?

  • Really good lesson - not too complicated but lovely little fills; took me down to the crossroads anyhow!

  • Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it.

  • this is great, very very nice playing

  • i'd love to be able to play like that

  • Practice, and you`ll be better than me in no time, not that I`m all that great anyway, I just have fun.

  • cool

  • Tasty...

  • nice man really nice... you know it would be even nicer if i had some tabs for that...

  • Have been havin a crack at slide, do you recommend starting in an open tuning or standard??

  • Wat is that song name?Sorry, not good in English.

  • hey man got any tabs for that?

  • Sorry, no tabs, just made it up as an example for someone.

  • The beginning sounds like SpongeBob

  • I love Spongebob.

  • dude nice work

    had me tappin my toes

  • Hey, I'm glad you liked it.

  • I'm trying to learn to play slide and hearing it done so well in standard tuning is kinda inspiring.

I also tried jamming with a random slide melody, it was fun! :D

  • Thanks,it takes time, keep at it. Even if you think you're notmaking any progress I can assure you that you are, it shows up a litle at a time. Standard tuning slide is difficult, no matter how easy it looks.

  • very nice man.

  • hey thanks, glad you like it.

  • whos this by?

I though u meant the song Slide by the Goos. lol cuz i play it in standard w/ capo or 1.xD

  • This song is just an improvisation I put together to demonstrate playing slide guitar in standard tuning for a friend of mine.

  • its nice man. fuck i dont care what anyone says good fucking job dude.

  • Glad you like it, thanks.

  • CooL BluE MUUUUsic Man!!!

  • I like this. Slide can be tricky. You make it look easy. Sounds great.

  • Thanks, that's a nice compliment,it looks a lot easier than it is of course.

  • Thanks.

  • very clean sweet sound
