  • BT is great , but he does Dj I seen him spin records in 2003 if that's not Djing then what the heck is He should accept and harvest his genre like Van Dyk and tiesto and others he will only be known as a DJ but a damn good one turned me on to the music in 99

  • I have never liked electronic dance music and I still don't. But I love the hell out of BT's stuff. That's how amazing he is.

  • We need more innovative minds like his in electronic music.

  • How is he ranked 80+ on DJ mag and talentless chimps like Chuckie & Carl Cox are ranked above him? He's clearly one of the top 10 most talented electronic musicians.

  • mental! BT my pioneer forever! now thats an interview you actually learn something! respect!

  • BT is really quite brilliant, but he has an insane look in his eyes!

  • i used to think this man was just another DJ like tiesto...deadmau5...but I now realize he is so much more. a modern musical voice that represents this generation. a modern mozart

  • hahaha the red bull

  • Thank him for pioneering the Progressive genre along with Sasha way back! <3

  • Anyone ever notice how he cringes right before he says Deadmau5? LOL>

  • This guy is a genius, a totally genius. All he does is perfect. Is renewed according to the weather, what he did and will do, for music is an amazing thing. It's also nice to see how he is so elegant. I love you!

  • This man is a genius; I'm so in love with anything he does.

  • what an inspiration

  • one of the most interesting people i have ever comed across ...

  • BT=Musical genius! really makes you think if the chance was ever presented to trade your childhood for an outstanding musical future.

  • @DanielVanderHeyden lol you use tha term too! Whenever I tell people about BT I tell them he is a Musical Genius.. win =3

  • Good interview with BT. Totally geeking out, but in a good way.

  • He is an absolute legend, hilarious little interview. BT the telecomms company should have to change their name so he can have exclusive rights!

  • He is simply incredible....'I said it every other way' :-)

  • never met the guy, but I already start to love him for the way how he thinks and talks. Due to my Asperger Syndrome i can understand him much better then any other person. Sure would love to meet him!

  • lord help us

  • This guy is a windbag. I've met him in person.

  • <333 btttttt

  • He definitely keeps me interested by 'musically' using new techniques in sound. He's bridging the gap between electronic sounds and something that has some classic ear grabbing sounds. There's plenty of very good experimental music out there, but does it have re-listenability? Even though this guy has a 'pop' edge, it still sounds amazing and is worth a listen by anyone.

  • wow, blown away with how well spoken BT is....this is my first experience with hearing him talk....i find it both strange and interesting that he is so very adament about never dj'ing but, all of these people say that they watched him do it....gotta be one of the coolest interviews i've ever watched

  • @goodtimecharlie3 I've toured as a DJ and also studied jazz guitar and composition/music theory in college, and I can fully understand why he doesn't want to be referred to as a DJ. DJing takes some skill, but it's not even on the same planet of musical ability as a learned composer. It must be hard for him to be referred to as such so often, because I think it not only overlooks but also demeans his accomplishments. The way he takes this continued mischaracterization in stride is admirable.

  • I first heard BT when I was 8, no joke. I'm now 21 years old and it's so, so fantastic to see him still going strong and still making such beautiful music as he is. What a talented musician. :)

  • Interesting note: Whatever the music in the background is (listen carefully) - they were obviously inspired by Hanz Zimmers Score for the film Blackhawk down. Anyone know what I mean?

  • @eldudio

That´s Shanit by Ferry Corsten :D

  • Cool, obviously a Hanz Zimmer fan :P

  • I could listen to him lecture about music for a long ass time...way intelligent guy.

  • i love his music

  • Clearly he believes he has never DJ'd. There must be some distinction known only to him. It doesn't make any difference though, he's a talanted artist and being able to buy the physical CD in a country like Australia where he is lesser known is the most important thing.

  • I love BT, but I don't know why he claims to never have DJ'd. I took photos of him DJing at The Gothic Theater in denver and even talked to him after the show where he was complaining about a fire breather making his records skip.

  • I was at that show, and I CLEARLY remember him using turntables. This was shortly before he began his "laptop symphony" shows, but after his keyboard throwing days. ;)

  • He's such a brilliant person. I'm impressed of how developed he is on his concept of music. I didn't miss a single word of the whole interview, I was all captivated.

I wish I could have him as a teacher. Just amazing.

  • BT is one Brilliant intelectual

  • Listen to the master. Nobody can speak about music variety like that and especially about the technicity of music itself. Try study 10 years in a fancy university and then go in the studio to use the things u tought and i assure you that you won't be able to mix 2 sounds. He has the right to say that music is his life and his experience beats the crap out of the top producers of electronic music.

  • BT is a very special musician IMO. His ability to innovatively solve technical problems while remaining creative and spontaneous is really a testiment to his intelligence and talent. However, he does also make grossly exaggerated statements that are entirely untrue from time to time (such as the comment about dj'ing).

  • Lawl! I love the part where the interviewer says that Deadmau5 is an American. HAHAHA.

  • Holy Crap! It says my name in the background! Hera! B.T. is simply an amazing mind. I would just love to sit and hear him speak on a wide variety of subjects tieing in with music.

  • Probably one of the most insightful and inspirational people I have ever heard speaking in the business, especially in the EDM scene. Great interview!

  • I am glad he brought up the point about inventions being exported. Its the same way with electronic ideas we send to Japan and they come back more than bad ass. I hope alot of people get to see this interview.

  • I'm on a hype, still waiting for his new album! Going to be great, this binary universe was totally awesome, can't wait!

  • Wow this guys is a genius, and very interesting to listen to. He is so engaged and interested in the subject of music, so unlike most other American musicians, sadly.

  • Man, he is so interesting to listen to.

  • ...I'm a really great fan of BT, but in this interview, he says that he neeever dj?

one time, in mexico city, back in 2002-2003, he was definitely djing, not with vinyls, but with cd's, and the price of the ticket was around $40, he's a lousy dj, i was hoping to see him perform live. That night was really disappointing for me... so he better not say, he has never dj! 'cause he did!

  • He just explained what he does, did you not listen to him talk about his live performances at all?

  • 0:36 - he said, "i've never dj a gig in my entire life"

Back in 2000 he came to Mexico City and had a live show, it was good, really emotional night for me, 'cuz i got to talk to him backstage and he signed for me my cd's, (IMA, ESCM and Movement in still Life), don't get me wrong here, i'm a huge fan of his work, but it just surprised me listening to him saying that he never dj in his "entire life" when i (and 700 more people) saw him dj-ing that night...

  • @cosmicmanik: when BT says never DJ'd he refers to not having done a classic DJ gig where a DJ (Disc Jockey) plays and manipulates Vinyl Records or CDs. He uses Ableton LIVE to play loops and manipulate them, so in that sense, what he is saying is correct.

  • Why has BT not yet received the Nobel Prize for Shear Awesomeness in all fields?

  • amazing... the way he talks about classical music; very unlike other artists of our generation.

  • Bleeding Edge is such a nerd term. I love it. Its beyond cutting edge, its bleeding edge.

  • such a great guy, super talented and let's not forget....he's HOT HOT HOT!!!

  • It was great! I wish I was there tonight @ ADE

  • His performance was absolutely amazing! Really blew me away. Still recovering from FoF lol. Too bad I can't be at ADE tonight to see him perform again.

  • loved this interview, BT is amazing. He has a lot of interesting things to say, wish the interview was longer!

  • Suzuki method!?? ME too!! Wow

  • Amazing artist! Can't wait to hear his new album.

  • always pushing the boundaries. excellent artist. :)

  • note: deadmau5 is canadian. he'd probably die if someone called him american lol

  • Hahaha, yeah... I think Canadians kinda hate being called "American" when abroad... :D

  • that guy is smart

  • He's a real modern Mozart :)

  • Wow!!! Very cool interview! I admire BT's music and everything he does! Learned so much from just 10 mins! Thank you for sharing with us!

  • Great interview that it was a great performance for sure

  • great interview! BT is ahead of his time..We are all so privleged to be witnesses of his craft.

  • This guy is my new hero

  • very nice

  • all those other interviews i clicked away of the boredness

but this is a good one!

  • cant wait till BT release his new album cause "every other way" is too good
