@bl00dynit Yaubase is a saturn emulator so if you can find an iso for the saturn version youll be set.

the old demo version of richter modifications was posted online somewhere, but it was long ago. forgot where it was.

it's more of a memory hack with the game loaded in an emulator than a real romhack. you need an external program to modify the game in realtime while you play.

it works with normal usa sotn copy.

nope, you run a second program on the side while sotn's running in epsxe, then load the script with changes into it while that program's set to modify epsxe's memory.

once that's done the code esco added is active and actively changes the game, but only as long as the memory hacking program's active and is pointed to epsxe 1.6.0.

program itself shouldn't be hard to find, it's the hack file you load into it that's the problem.

The American version of this game was downgraded. In the Jap Sega Saturn version, you could select Richter and MARIA from the start of the game without having to beat it first. There were also deleted levels like "The Cursed Prison."

the levels weren't deleted. they were pieced together into incredibly dull and boring copypasta from existing levels for the saturn version.

and maria's better in dxc for me. she may be too weak, but at least she uses abilities she was designed with in mind, instead of turning her into ninja megaman. it's like taking richter's whip away and giving him a gun.

saturn was also very ugly when it comes to effects. no more transparencies, just look at alucard's mist form.

The double jump is nice, and I like how the unused spin kick animation was worked in, but what I'd love to see more than anything else would be the ability to swing the whip in all 8 directions, like in Super Castlevania 4.

Sorry that won't be possible. That'd require hacking in more sprites, recoding the subweapon system to another button, recoding the whip to appear also diagonally and other things. I really doubt 8 directional whip (or even just down whipping like chronicles simon) would be possible.

It's easy now because it's just a moveset demo. Esco is recoding all the enemies and other stuff to make the game a living hell for both Alucard and Richter. :P

I linked to the info in the description. There's no custom sotn rom yet, the guy still works on it and the richter moves was released as a demo. It will require more than just patching the iso though.
