I remember this piece being played at a Christmas concert in 1973 by a girl who suffered a horrific accident ten months before and wasn't expected to play the violin ever again. Having confounded the doctors and everyone else, she performed the praeludium and allegro! The music seemed to be filling the concert hall and fighting to get out as she played her "victory piece". What a tremendous experience that was, hardly a dry eye in the place.

I like the perlman one better but she is also really good. I think she should stop messing up the rythm so much and playing with the tempo. It does sound nice in moderation, but she is just re-composing it.

I love her playing! In Japan we have had the same management (saito, osaka) and we should play a concert together in sapporo. It is a pitty that it never worked. Would have been soooo nice...........
