  • Such changes then to now

  • Is that 2nd engine a C&NW? Almost looks like the paint scheme of the time.

  • do you know where that freight was destined?

  • No. But an educated guess would be Croxton Yard in Secaucus, NJ.

  • I thought of that but it looked like it would've come around here.

  • Was This When Color To Cameras Were Beginning its Revoultion?

  • (I didn't shoot this video, but have a rather vast knowledge of video)

Back in those days, motion picture cameras did not determine whether a piece of film was going to be B&W or color, it was the actual film that was being recorded. Color film had been around since about 1910, but was very expensive then, and for a long time afterwards.

In short, no, the "revolution" of color "cameras" (film) had been about 20 years prior.

  • Brings back memories, As I grew up watching trains on that spot.

  • Very cool video! Does freight still operate on the Main/Bergen County Line?

  • Yes, there's a couple local (H08 & H44 I think) that run from Croxton - Campbell Hall & back (CT22 under Conrail). And they may run a local or two out of Suffern. Usually they don't look like locals, they run with widecab EMDs and have quite a few cars. The NS train that was OIBU/BUOI whose name escapes me runs over the Lehigh Line & trackage rights over CP to get to the Southern Teir in Binghamton now. If there's a problem on the River Sub. CSX will use this as a detour.

  • I checked a master freight schedule and neither railroad was planning to run anything other than locals east of Binghampton. There was no replacement for OIBU/BUOI.

  • nice u-boat

  • wow, great video!

  • WOW.!
