Supreme singing voice. Miss Yeend's equally fantastic. I agree with you, Miss Kirsten was wonderful and seconded him beautifully in TGC What about those applauses in the end of this performance They demonstrate without any doubt the high value of these two voices Thank you immensely for this one more video
I tend to agree... some of the sopranos he had to work with were a bit less than impressive; or at least did not compliment him well. However, one exception: I think the recordings he made with Dorothy Kirsten for "The Great Caruso" are excellent. I think she also suited him well... very clear voice, no screechiness or harshness.
Fantastico e unico!!!!

If today you could hear this at the Bowl...
not the Crap they get there today...
I'd be sitting in those crappy benches in a minute, under pouring rain or blazing heat.
A tour de Force for these two.

Beautiful rendition of a very difficult duet!

I just love the way Lanza holds that end note, apparently Yeend ran out of breath!
Also how he gives the 'n' at the end of the word 'vien' often omitted by some singers unable to get it in there...

A million Stars won't do this justice!
If this is what we got back then at the Hollywood Bowl, today we are going through a dark and mediocre period in time.
Thanks for the beautiful post, ShawDAMAN.

I tend to agree with that as well :P Good entertainment is few and FAR between today. So are great opera singers, with a few exceptions...
Thank you for listening, and be sure and check out the other Lanza postings

Of all the singing partners Mario had, Frances Yeend complimented him best. They were magnificent together.
