  • Fantastico e unico!!!!

  • This is spectacular!! Breathtaking!

  • I never tire of hearing this duet, it is so beutiful

  • :-)

  • If today you could hear this at the Bowl...

not the Crap they get there today...

I'd be sitting in those crappy benches in a minute, under pouring rain or blazing heat.

A tour de Force for these two.

  • lanza supreme, as usual miss yeend,s is fine too.

  • he would have made it huge in the opera world, there is no dought he could sing. what a c= at the end.

  • I think so too. Yes that is a spectacular high c.

  • Beautiful rendition of a very difficult duet!

  • I just love the way Lanza holds that end note, apparently Yeend ran out of breath!

Also how he gives the 'n' at the end of the word 'vien' often omitted by some singers unable to get it in there...

  • I love it too =)

  • Yeend was a very great underrated soprano from the 1950s thanks for posting this beautiful performance

  • yes i agree thanks for listening

  • Supreme singing voice. Miss Yeend's equally fantastic. I agree with you, Miss Kirsten was wonderful and seconded him beautifully in TGC What about those applauses in the end of this performance They demonstrate without any doubt the high value of these two voices Thank you immensely for this one more video

  • A million Stars won't do this justice!

If this is what we got back then at the Hollywood Bowl, today we are going through a dark and mediocre period in time.

Thanks for the beautiful post, ShawDAMAN.

  • I tend to agree with that as well :P Good entertainment is few and FAR between today. So are great opera singers, with a few exceptions...

Thank you for listening, and be sure and check out the other Lanza postings

  • @fabrizzzio48 Now you see!!! This is the dark ages.

  • @OscarLevant1

    Mr. Shore,

    keep up the good teaching!

  • Of all the singing partners Mario had, Frances Yeend complimented him best. They were magnificent together.

  • I tend to agree... some of the sopranos he had to work with were a bit less than impressive; or at least did not compliment him well. However, one exception: I think the recordings he made with Dorothy Kirsten for "The Great Caruso" are excellent. I think she also suited him well... very clear voice, no screechiness or harshness.
